By selling / kicking out lots of players and I dont mind a transition season with young and youth players. You shape a culture by kicking out people, and Fergie was brilliant at it. Time to be bloody ruthless

Agreed. I'm going to end up disappointed because no doubt the level of upheaval I would like in terms of outs, will be deemed "unrealistic". Needs to happen though.

Precisely what i've been hoping for. A Chelsea style clear out. Just blow it all up and start again. There's too many charlatans in the squad. Too many to make any meaningful progress.

They won’t do it. They’ll eat the cost of a lot of these players until they can leave on a free or ask to leave. We can’t afford to make those kinds of losses and sign the right people. It’s going to be slow going. A wonderkid or two and a free transfer or two. That’s all I see happening this summer. They won’t do anything gutsy like selling Rashford or Bruno. They will hope they can get them back to their best. Playing them in absolutely every game is stupid and frustrating though.

I think it'll happen but over a few windows. If possible we should get rid of the biggest problems first then maybe the others might fall in line or accept a lesser role, if not get rid of those too.

We need a few brutal summers and have done for years but it’s never happened. Outside of Onana, Dalot, Martinez, Shaw, Mainoo, Garnacho and Hojlund there isn’t much to build with over next 3 years (and two of those have big injury concerns). There isn’t a quick fix of making couple of signings and changing the manager it is a huge rebuild required.

The players out on loan are effectively gone, they’ll either be out on loan or sold. What more concerned with is how many of the current dross we watch week in week out will be shipped out and replaced this summer and the next. If it’s not a lot we’ll be in pretty much same position on couple of years time.

Not gonna happen. It will be the usual 3/4 signings and a couple of sales on top of those leaving in a free. You’re going to be disappointed, sorry.

I do generally agree

We keep hearing of resets but nothing significant ever happens. With Ineos, Berrada and (hopefully) Ashworth coming in this summer, could do with just going the extra way and getting a new manager, resetting the whole staff and then being absolutely ruthless in sales so that the team looks completely different next season.

That's the issue. As a fan, you feel as if you can see the issues, but lack the patience required for it to get done. What I want done, will no doubt take multiple windows, yet I want the rubbish cleared immediately.

We have FFP issues and a lot of the staff isn't in place yet who are going to have to align and do this properly. You'll be disappointed.

Saying that, we will probably let go of the following either way:
  • Varane
  • One of Maguire or Lindelof
  • Casemiro
  • Eriksen
  • Amrabat
  • Van de Beek
  • Sancho
  • Martial
So we should get significantly younger and more fit at least.

Would love it but no club can afford it to bin so many players off on our kinds of contracts.

We say this every summer. Fact is we don’t have the cash and can’t raise a great deal as we’ve handed out mega contracts.

I think Ten Hag is staying, and we’ll get him 2-3 reinforcements. But it won’t be the mass exodus some think.

Not only we have to sell, but it’s critical that we get rid of those have been part of the core team for the last couple of years,, and the only exceptions are Dalot and potentially Shaw should be exempt from this.

All eyes should point to Bruno, Rashford, Maguire, AWB and McT if we are to make a statement of intent.

I agree that we need to be ruthless.

I have been a little reluctant in the past because I wasn't convinced we'd sell wisely and spend wisely - but with a better structure in-place now is the time

yeah. really brutal. i hope the players are stripped naked and forced to run around carrington in the rain until they collapse. their nipples, rock hard in the icy wind. lindelof is the first to fall. ten hag gestures to mcclaren, he grabs the crocodile clips and clamps lindelof’s bullet nips to a car battery. he cries out in pain, begging for it to end. the end doesn’t come.

I really don’t want another season of Rashford. It’s better for the club and for his career that he goes somewhere where he doesn’t have the run of the place. He needs to be pushed in a new environment and the club need to rethink their dressing room and wage structure.

Most of the players aren't worth what we pay them and they aren't going to be leading us to a league title anytime soon, but they're also not as bad as a lot of posters make them out to be.

At the end of the day, nobody is going to look good playing in our incoherent chaosball tactical scheme.

Luckily for Lindelof ten Hag takes it easy on him, i want to see Rashford writhing in pain with a 12 volt battery hooked to his bollocks with EtH screaming "PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS".

It’ll be brutal alright. Brutal to look at all the over paid prima Donna’s still at the club in September.

I’d want at least ten out including some hopefully heading to Saudi for decent money.

That way we can bring in 5 or 6 that could transform the first XI.

If we don't sell one of Bruno or Rashford and boot the manager, it's empty words.

Yeah a thread like this pops up every other season. We have never done a “reset” except VG’s first season, that was what 10 years ago

To be fair, we haven’t had new owners in that entire period either. It’s unlikely, but if they have ambition, and their executive recruitment would suggest that they do, this could be the season.

Reports suggest that Berrada has been having meetings ever since he was brought in ahead of his starting date in the summer. He will want to make big changes and he knows that if he doesn’t, the failure will continue.

If we got rid of all the players that deserve it, we would need to bring in 10-15 new ones. As good as it sounds to do some kind of squad clear out, it needs to be done intelligently.

To the extent possible, we can get rid of the ones that can't be relied on to be fit (Martial, Varane, and possibly Shaw and Malacia), and the ones that have no long-term future here anyway (Casemiro, Eriksen).

And then, for the love of God, don't mindlessly extend the contracts of players that don't deserve it. On top of the names already mentioned we have Maguire, Lindelöf, McTominay, and AWB with contract expiry in 2025. I'm not sure I'd offer any of them to stay on, except for maybe one-year deals for back-up roles.

Seems every manager since LvG goes through the same process of a decent/good first season (or two) then a catastrophe and a managerial change happens. We just never make the next step to be convincing and genuine title challenges. It's almost as if we over-perform rather than under-perform and then it catches up with us.

Something similar to what Klopp or Arteta did needs to happen here: have a system, build towards this and if even the star players don't fit in then get rid of them no matter who they are. A few years at 5th or 6th is ok so long as there is clear progress and developing players.

The only thing you can build with Shaw is molehill or unicorn, he is done professionally.

Every season we have this thread.
Calling for loads out and loads in.

Every season we make a tiny handful of signings and release/sell a tiny handful of players.

We don't really have the new structure in place, or any of the people who are supposed to form it. We know the CEO will join in June, and that's about it for now. So my expectations ahead of the summer are reserved for the time being.

Anyhow, it's not going to be a short term fix so there's no need to jump head first in the summer and get rid of the lot. We need to do it well, not quick.

We go in 'transition' every summer. Sell squad players where we can, still keep those high earning players we can't sell like Rashford, buy more expensive squad level players until an academy player takes their place and repeat.

Sign me up for that

We need to cull the entire senior squad; Maguire, Lindelof, Varane, Shaw, Wan Bissake, Van De Beek, Eriksen, Casemiro, Rashford, Sancho, Martial, should all be outed, even if we lose money on the deal at least we'll have them off the wage bill. Bruno can be a pain with his whining but it shows he cares at least but Id make Martinez captain. McTominay has shown he can contribute and Dalot is a good full back; Mount deserves a chance as hes been plagued by injury and Onana is improving. Lets blood the Academy kids, they wont all be Mainoos but they can hardly be worse than the shower they'll be replacing and at the very least they will TRY!
