I know watching MU is not as exciting as it used to be...

Tell me about it. A lot of casual punters spend more time fiddling about with their phones that watching the game.
I don't understand why people go to football matches or any other event in fact just to stand there and video record everything on their phone.

Especially at gigs nowadays, all you see is phones up in the air whilst the performance is taking place. I understand people taking short clips or pictures now and then if they do want one but why waste your money just to stand there and video it all just to stick it on FB/Youtube. Be better of watching it on the tele.

Beats the shit outta me - these people don't actually attend the event in a meaningful sense. The worst I've seen was some proud dad doing the AV bit at his daughter's christening - he largely missed the whole bloody thing fannying about with his kit.

Having a personal replica shirt should be illegal for those over 14

In fairness if he doesn't bring his laptop and offer Frogie suggestions on the Man United Facebook page, How the hell is SAF supposed to know what to do at half-time?

That's what I find so sad. I generally frown at the whole 'you have to stand and sing every minute of the game' attitude, as I neither enjoy nor understand policing fellow supporters, but the whole culture of percieving your part of an event rather than actually enjoying the event itself is alien to me.

And it's even 'How would others percieve my perception of this event through Facebook/Twitter/social-media-of-your-choice'? They're imagining others watching them watching the game rather than -- here's a novel idea! -- actually watching the bleeding game.

Makes me feel luddite, grumpy and 50.000 years old, but I can't help it.

Amazingly, the laptop isn't even the cringiest thing (well it is) but the replica shirt with his own name on it. Just wise up.

Can't remember which game it was at last season, but someone infront of me spent about 15 minutes trying to 'check-in' to Old Trafford on facebook with their iPhone.

"Look everyone, I'm at the United match!"

Well, I wouldn't be caught dead with an iPhone, but :nervous:

Some photoshop expert needs to put redcafe on the laptop and the name of a resident top red on the shirt.

Taking your eye off the game to photograph that idiot isn't an awful lot better in my opinion.

You shouldn't - it's about authentic experience and what's important. I've been fending off intrusive technology for years - I used to send phone calls in informal meetings to voicemail to people's surprise - just because you're using the phone doesn't mean you get priority over what's important right now.

Every time I've visited Old Trafford it's taken me half a workday. It's an experience each time. I enjoy it before the game and hopefully I enjoy it after the game.

I don't know where this sits on the disgraceful chart. About the same as pitch invasion, lower than hooliganism and general violence.

This was posted a few weeks ago.

Do we know that it wasn't half time? There are empty seats around him. Can't see any movement at all from the crowd, no signs of excitement or frustration.

And yes, I know some people will say that that can apply during a game as well.

And is it in the wrong forum?

I remember using matches or lighters at the end of gigs to bring bands back out to do encores. Then it switched to cell phones overnight. Its sad

People are in need of attention generally so they use their phones as a way to say "I was there, look at me.I'm interesting !!!"
