Gayle gone!!! Brilliant bowling, he looked lost out there.
I thought it was 'tactics' but you're right, he was in a different place. Amazing that nerves, tension and responsibility can affect even the greatest of players.

Pollard and Bravo really have to bat out of their skins for West Indies just to post a defendable target

Incredible bowling. Windies only scoring 14 in the power play overs - surely that's a record for fewest runs in the PP overs?

Not going to get any easier with the spinners now bowling and then Malinga to come back. Not sure what they should aim to make.

well teams have defended 140 so anywhere in excess of that is the most they can now hope for. And they will have to bat very well just to get that.

So windies on course for a competitive 64 in the 20 overs.

137/6, great effort to make that score.

Malinga was smashed all over the place. Windies have a slight chance but need to make early breakthroughs.

SL's innings clashing with the united game is a shame but they should be good enough to win this.

Dropped Mahela! That could be huge. It's also raining, D/L could decide this.

How the feck did they pull that off?! 36 runs as well :eek:

Credit to the windies, Samuels' innings was brilliant and that was the difference in the end. Well done, I'm sure they'll be dancing all night.

Samuels just said "I would love to be on top in test cricket, too. Test cricket is best cricket."

Top stuff by Windies. Best innings of the tournament by the Samuels. Feel for Lankans, fourth WC final loss in last 10 years.

Delighted for WI cricket.

Hope this win inspires a generation back into the game, esp a new set of fast bowlers!

SL have now lost the 2007 & 2011 WC finals and the 2009 & 2012 T20 finals.

Shame for Sri Lanka and especially Sangakarra and Mahela who deserved to win at least 1 final for everything they've done in the game.
