and you only had 30000 for the boavista game
does that make liverpool fans part-timers or glory hunters
personally i think both!

You might be right, But coming from a manc a qoute about part timers and glory hunters is really the pot calling the kettle black.
You may fill your stadium every week, but I would rather watch the game with 30,000 diehards than
67,000 crisp packet rustling, prawn sandwich eating part time glory hunters.
Just ask Keano!!

so all the 30000 against boavista were diehards then?

The CL starts proper tonight...the crowds at the early games were poor but the competition was hardly inspiring...
The Boavista game was on the 11 Sept, I reckon a fair few may have had other things on their minds...

so u wouldnt suggest that seeing as the tickets were on open sale that some fans who dont usually get the chance to go took advantage and bought a ticket?

1. the tickets were not sold for that game....did they have the forsight to see the tragic incidents in america beforehand and decided not to purchase a ticket?
2. what about the crowds against haka and kiev?

Tickets were on sale on the night, so they didn't need to be bought in advance...
The Haka match was little more than a reserves match, the Dortmund crowd was disapointing...

I would think that a number of tickets were taken up by people who don't always go to the game, that doesn't make them any less a diehard fan.
If they are passionate about the club and want to cheer there team then good on them for turning up.
Your original statement was that all the glory hunters have jumped on the bandwagon tonight because it is Barca, I would be inclined to agree with you, but I certainly wouldn't call people who turn out against lesser teams in cup competitions Glory hunters.
All succesful teams have hangers on who claim to be the worlds biggest fan and in reality know very little about the club. I would also say that you have more than most, so why have a pop at Liverpool because of demand for tickets for this game. Like I said before, POT KETTLE BLACK.

Eh, the tickets were sold days before that happened, as FA pointed out.
Are you saying you would have gone if it hadn't been for what happened in NY?

I wouldn't have thought so saying it was a ticket stub only match...
But I've heard talk of some on sale tho I've seen folks asking for spares throughout the last week..
But considering that 80,000 people applied allegedly, if there are tickets on sale its another ticker office cock up....

so if you want to have a serious argument about it father ted.
1. united have had the best crowds for the last 30 years even when you were the better team. were they glory hunters then when we had not won the league for 26 years?
2. if united have 67000 fans for a champions league game and liverpool 30000 fans based upon a fair assumption that some of these fans are part-timers or glory hunters, how many diehards would you say would be in each stadium.

No I wouldn't of gone as I couldn't get time off work...
But I didn't even got to the pub to watch the match due to what happened across the pond...so I wouldn't be surprised if others altered their plans...

so who does that make the biggest glory hunters then davo?
united who sell out against lille or real madrid or liverpool who can only muster 30000 for a phase 1 champions league but can get "allegedly" 80000 enquires for a game against one of the biggest clubs in the world?

Surprised?
The London trains that come to and from Crewe on a saturday are always packed with Mickeys and Liverworld bags.
Do any scousers actually go to games anymore? (Everton fans excepted naturellment )

Don't bother FA, Davo wouldn't understand. He goes to so few games, he couldn't even be characterised as a part-timer.... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Well FA, using this as a specific example it does appear that there's a lot of "cherry pickers" as is the term used here....

I do not argue with the fact that UTD have had the best crowds, the point is you are criticising Liverpool fans tonight as being glory hunters because it is a big game.
Your increase in capacity over the last few years has coincided with your success, you will of course have your diehard fans who although I might give some stick to I respect as I do all genuine football fans.
As well as being succesful on the pitch Utd have also been extremely succesful off it in terms of marketing and promotong their team, even when you were not winning anything Utd were often the darlings of the media and were a name famous the world over.
These things all generate "glory hunters" and whether you like it or not they are associated with your team more than any other. Attitudes of people like Zoe ball are typical of a lot of your "glory hunting fans"
Christ, even your manager and captain have made public comments about "SOME" of the people who fill Old Trafford every week.
How many of the people who fill Old Trafford are people who go week in week out? Do you really believe that even before Fergie started winning things every year that a club as big and as famous as Utd didn't attract "glory Supporters".
Come on Really!!!
As far as the 30,000 crowds go, we are sold out for EVERY league game weel in advance we only get those sort of crowds against lesser teams in the cups so in reality I would say that the percentage of Glory supporters are quite low and i would expect most of them, but not all to be genuine fairly locally based fans, if you like, the hardcore.
I have said before that I accept that when big games come along we get the glory hunters, what i can't understand is why you feel the need to take the piss out of us because of it.
Have you really nothing better to argue with us about at the moment

you cant understand why i feel the need to take the piss out of you
1. because thats all you try and do with us.
2. how many people go week in week out? as i understand we over 42000 season ticket and LMTB holders so i would expect them to, plus i know loads of members who cant afford a season ticket but go to every game.
3. you are sold out for every league game, so do leeds, arsenal, west ham, tottenham, ipswich etc. the real show of support is when it comes to a cup tie against the so-called lesser teams. as barca said i go to watch united play it seems liverpool fans as a whole dont.
as to this question which you didnt really answer
if united have 67000 fans for a champions league game and liverpool 30000 fans based upon a fair assumption that some of these fans are part-timers or glory hunters, how many diehards would you say would be in each stadium?
i assume that you would have to agree that united have more genuine fans.

If you've got all these hardcore genuine fans, then why do the likes of yourself and Barca constantly whinge about the part timers, gloryfans etc that "pollute" your ground?

I have never dissagreed with the fact that utd have a greater number of genuine fans, but by the same token that brings a greater number of Glory hunters as well.
You will have to argue this one on your own for now as I'm setting off for the game.
By the way I was at Dortmund, Kiev and Boavista so I am not a glory fan.
Are you going to wish us luck
