Pickford and no Greenwood, Southgate shooting himself in the foot.
To be fair Mason doesn't really deserve to be on the squad ahead of any of the other forwards.

And if anyone has shot themselves foot, it's Mason.

His punishment has been served now, surely.
Nothing to do with that anymore. Greenwood hasn’t been in better form in recent weeks than the forwards Southgate has selected.

I hope this will be a good dose of reality for Greenwood. Fingers crossed it'll help him understand his responsibilities in the long run.

I have no idea why clubs don't group up to refuse players leaving for internationals when there's a large increase in reported cases of covid

I can't believe friendlies are still going ahead.
Players already stretched as it is without frivolous additions to the calendar.

Nations League isn't much better mind.

Wait it's just friendlies?

Then what's the point, seriously what? During this time, it's better to be safe than sorry considering many cases already happened of players getting positive after/during international games. Better to focus on competitions (club and international) only, not those friendly games. For once, scrap it.

Sorry to rant, but it seems outrageous to have a third international break in eight weeks to play a bunch of glorified friendlies.

The world is in various stages of lockdown, our social lives are several restricted and one of the few regular hobbies we can enjoy is watching live football from our domestic leagues.

Instead we have to suspend it again to play some meaningless games which actually put the players at risk, due to the travel involved.

Who are we playing these games for? The 'England till I die' knuckle-draggers? The Fifa advertising lackeys? Whoever it is, the situation is ridiculous.

The sooner the clubs break away from Fifa and form their own governing body, the better.

Rant over.

It's the same as October, one friendly followed by two nations league games. Also got euro 2020 play offs (although those could wait until March).

South America also playing two more WCQ games.

The November international break is my favourite one. Because I know once it’s done there won’t be another one for four months..
Just one more week of pain and suffering and it’s over and we can rejoice..... until March.

Shouldn't really play international games. It will probably be the reason football have to stop this season too.

It’s insane that international teams are packing 3 games in 7-10 days with the fixture schedule this season.

It really just shows how little Fifa care about the people who play or watch the game doesn´t it.
I doubt that FIFA is responsible for Germany's test matches against Turkey last break and Czechia this week. It is more the contracts the German FA made with a TV broadcaster...

Almost 7 years ago to the day Iceland played against Croatia in the WC play-off. This was the lineup:

Eiður Guðjohnsen has since retired but the other 10 are still there and I'd expect at least 8 of them to start. You will not see much intensity or power from the Icelandic team. Both of our CBs haven't played in a month and one of them is close to 40. Jóhann Guðmundsson has been struggling with injuries this season. Aron Gunnarsson struggles to finish 90 minutes. Bjarnason has not featured at all for Brescia. Finnbogason has struggled with injuries, 160 minutes this season for Augsburg. He's incapable of 90 minutes. 15 players in the squad that are 30 years or older. 2 are under the age of 25. Kolbeinn Sigþórsson still gets picked despite having scored 8 goals since he left Ajax 5 years ago. None of our keepers are playing football. I do not consider us favorites.

I don't know what you Swedes think of Hamrén but at least there will be the positive of him getting the sack if we don't win tomorrow. His managerial stint is best descriped as auto-pilot.

Hopefully this marks a before-and-after in the way clubs deal with their FAs generally.

If we see clubs start to withhold their players (as they should), the whole international calendar will become less bloated.

Having Euros after the domestic season means it's impossible to not have an international break.

International managers need to work with their players in preparation for the tournament and you can't expect them to have just a few weeks for such a high stakes tournament.

Slovenia vs Azerbaijan was one of the most boring matches in our NT history. First half went by without shot on target from either side.

I dunno, maybe for player welfare they shouldn't have the tournament at all?

Anyone playing in that tournament will have played from the end of the lockdown break in June 2019 through til the end of the season in 2022 with little time off.

The only ones who'll have had any proper time off are the ones who've succumbed to injury during that period.

They should have made two international breaks for 3 weeks with of course no friendlies......the coaches would have prober training sessions with the players in the first week, then three Nations League matches in the second week and then the international players would have a few days off before the league are starting again........and for example the group with England, Belgium, Denmark & Iceland should have all matches on Matchday 1+2+3 in England and on Matchday 4+5+6 in Belgium to reduce the risk for coronavirus.
