I cannot understand how a player of his ability can fall apart in a matter of weeks. Surely the majority of pros can take a few weeks off and not suffer having a first touch of a pub player, it's absolutely pathetic.

He's been the footballing equivalent of an old diesel engine on a cold day for years and years. You have to keep it running for a while before you can drive it.

It's why he's been crap internationally for years. He doesn't have the games to get a rhythm going.
