With all respect to situation I can't understand how Premier League is coming to this conclusion. Either all teams play or nobody. This is just stupidity on highest level.

How many games are we expecting to clump into October?

How many games will we/English clubs have to squeeze in during the crunch time of the CL/EL?

Fun times ahead.

Miles more iconic than the person on every single banknote and coin for the past 70 years in almost half the English speaking world and beyond.

It’s the actual end of an Age in Britain with her passing and onto a new one. Messi and Ronaldo are irrelevant to this in the grand scheme going on future historians.

She is someone who will be forever studied as she was the first monarch to be filmed pretty much from birth. It is an age defining event for Britain.

The Queen is adored by most so that is redundant. This is 100% bigger than Diana in the history books but Diana was more a shock created mass hysteria I seem to remember but I was a kid at the time. It was also a great tabloid story in the age of paparazzi who killed her. Different thing.
As someone has said before - stop talking absolute nonsense.

It now becomes really important we don't finish second in our EL group.

Again zero regards to the many supporters that forked out big cash towards accommodation and flights.

What's going to happen to the European Games? Default loses like Spurs last season?

I’m surprised how the Brentford vs Arsenal game is going ahead when that game is in London.

Absolutely bizarre that ours is off and a London game is still on.
Probably because at the very least the resources required to police the Brentford arsenal game which will be considerably less than than our game vs Leeds, will still be in London once there finished and won't have to travel far.

Whereas having an awful lot of Riot/crowd control resources 200 miles away less than 24 hours away from what will be a huge event dosent make alot of sense, they need them there at the weekend so they can everyone briefed and ready.

Not fair for the clubs with games postponed, especially those in Europe. I’d be seeking compensation.

Cancelling a few games next weekend actually makes sense since they need extra policing for the events etc. The extremely stupid decision was cancelling the previous matchday for no good reason (just look at how rugby/cricket matches went in terms of having respectful moments re the queen passing).

The only thing I could think is isn't there a mounted police unit in Manchester, which are normally deployed at games of big rivals and for big crowd control and as there aren't many units they're all needed down in London. Also what about riot police are there units everywhere or are they quite specialised too?

But that doesn't explain Tottenham Vs Leicester still being on as surely that would be using met mounted branch?

Also why not call off games involving public transport as I expect the streets and public transport will be absolutely rammed without adding football fans to the mix

Very strange decision, wonder if people up thread are right that they are worried because it's a big rivalry so open to trouble? But then Liverpool Vs Chelsea, while a big game, I wouldn't say it's a massive derby rivalry?

If the London games were off and just the smaller/ more "remote" ones left I'd understand as surely every police personnel possible will be needed?

i think people are woefully underestimating just how massive this weekend is going to be people wise. It’s going to be unlike anything the country has seen in a very very long time.
I’m surprised people even thought there wouldn’t be HUGE ramifications and massive changes to the Schedules in this country when the Queen died. It’s unprecedented the World over. I’m sure football and it’s fans will survive. It’s just Sod’s law really that it proceeded an international break.

So they have the resources for Spurs v Leicester and Brentford v Arsenal, they keep their winning streaks going yet here in Manchester we have to supply police and cancel our game. Sure it's higher profile and higher risk but it's also unfair to give us more fixture congestion to a northern game.

Crimes committed within a 500-metre radius of Premier League football grounds on match days between 2014 and 2021:
Newcastle 23,172
Tottenham 12,217
Chelsea 11,228
Arsenal 10,885
Everton 10,456
Wolves 7,832
Southampton 7,244
Brentford 7,083
Liverpool 6,577
Crystal Palace 5,612
Leeds United 4,783
West Ham Utd 4,628
Aston Villa 4,305
Man City 3,748
Man United 2,858
Fulham 2,437
Nott’m Forest 2,414
Leicester City 2,268
Bournemouth 1,506
Brighton 944
feck me, is everyone on the Tyne a criminal?
Might be skewed with it being right in the middle of the city.
2023 - Newcastle has the highest number of people in the country without hands. The new owners are struggling to pinpoint what’s gone wrong.

Expected. But still a shambles. Two games postponed in what's the most crammed football year in history, because a 96-year-old woman died unexpectedly. Sums it up, to be honest.
Unexpectedly?! I’m sorry, but if a 96 year old circling the drain is unexpected then quite frankly I don’t have much hope for the human race.

The FA can get to feck. Incompetent cnuts - the more I see them bending over brown nosing the royal family the more I feel the Super League was a good idea. The authorities in this country are a fecking joke.

Well we can certainly no longer say the Royals have no impact on the lives of everyday people.

I’m into history. You are not. There lies the difference you see.
The queen is absolutely and certainly not adored by most. There are people in your own country who despise monarchy and as the next generation comes in, it will be despised even more thankfully. She has my respect as a human being but certainly not as a queen. UK has gone bonkers with shutting shop for all this nonsense.
