I think Suarez equals Henry in terms of peak quality. Suarez on his day is unstoppable.
That would still be around 16 goals in 25 matches against stronger opponents, and he contributed a lot more than just goals. Liverpool have been around EL or midtable level for years and Suarez would have dragged them to a title if not for a slip.47% of his goals came against the bottom four sides that season. He's not done anything in England that Henry has not matched or bettered.

You can also argue to him that Henry did not stand out at Barcelona the same way Suarez did or that Suarez achieved more in the CL. At the end of the day you can nitpick criteria and one will inevitably comes higher or lower than the other in specific ones but overall, they both were/are game changers of the very highest order. Like I said in a previous post, only Fat Ronaldo was better than them.We were both talking overall, ie he disagreed that Suarez as a player is not in the same bracket as Henry.
His reason seems to be that he didn't show as much consistency for a lesser team like Liverpool prior to going to a super team like Barcelona. However, Henry played for the invincibles in his prime so its not really a fair comparison.
Henry played in a great Arsenal side.
Suárez elevated Sterling, Henderson and Courinho to a title challenge.

Etoo?Maybe Henry did it over a longer period but there is not much there. At their best, both of them are as good as it gets in terms of strikers with the exception of Fat Ronaldo. After those three, I would rank Ruud, Shevchenko, Agüero, Lewandowski, Zlatan and maybe Shearer as the best forwards of the past 20 years or so.
No he's not in the same bracket. He's in the same tier as Ibra, Shevcheko amongst others.
Henry is several levels above.
You know that Zlatan's sportswear company is called A-Z. So named as it caters for all levels from Amateur to Zlatan.
Retired players are often mythologized and overrated. The forgettable parts of their careers are, well, forgotten. The great ones are exaggerated by nostalgia. That's the thing, I thought similar, that Suarez was just as good a player. The reply I got was "you don't remember how Henry was back then".
59 goals in all competitions last year, that's 20 more than Henry ever got. Henry was a great player but Suarez' level in recent seasons has surpassed anything Henry ever did.
You literally ignored the part where I said I was comparing just their PL performances.
True! Eto'o, Raùl and maybe Drogba could be added to that list I reckon. If Agüero had a better injury record and maybe trophy haul, I really think he would be higher on the list.Etoo?
At his best, I don't think there has been a more explosive, exciting god on the pitch since maybe Maradonna. I honestly think if it wasn't for the injuries and relatively less than stellar trophy haul, people would rank him higher than Messi. But that's for another thread I suppose.I was too young to appreciate him then. Just recall thinking he was a god on the pitch. Youtubing compilations of fat Ronaldo now![]()
Suarez is the master of the failed bobbly nutmeg
It doesn't matter who his goals come against, you can only beat the teams put in front of you.
He had probably the best individual season seen in the PL, outscoring Henry's best season. Again, without taking pens or free kicks. At one stage that season he'd scored around 20 goals in 10 games.
I've not seen Henry do the dirty work Suarez does on a weekly basis.
Refer to the bit where I state that Suarez' best PL season was better than Henry's.
Suarez is definitely in the same bracket and imo the better player.
Suarez is a hard working player. He makes plenty of selfless runs behind the defense, hounds the opponent with the ball and is quality on the ball as well. I've not seen Henry do the dirty work Suarez does on a weekly basis.
But this being a United forum and Suarez having controversies in the past will stack the odds against him here
Henry's impact on our game (his combination play, selflessness, first touch and intelligence on the counter) were just as, if not, more important to us than his goals. He was an absolute whirlwind, did everything you could want an attacking player to do. Below is his assists over just two seasons of his career;Funnily, I feel the exact opposite.
Henry had a knack for turning up with absolutely outrageous goals like the one he scored with his back to goal against us, but I don't think his impact on the general team play is as big as Suarez's.
