Is there a bigger big game bottler than Raheem Sterling?

Kane. Does nothing in big games.

Don't see the point in this thread. He had a very good tournament but a tough final, as expected.

The media have been trying to ram down our throats that he has been player of the tournament. He's a very average footballer, but has great pace and good movement. Every game has illustrated his inconsistent ball control and penchant for running down blind alleys. However it doesn't suit the narrative, as he has had moments in games that have skewed his overall performances beyond all proportion. Poor in the final and clearly didn't fancy a penalty, despite Gareth taking the flack for it. His tournament could have been remembered (or forgotten) for his general clumsiness and scruffy technique, not to mention his assist for Thomas Muller and the sitter he missed against Denmark.

Against mighty opposition?

He had the same performances as he does for city. Demolishes dross and gets found out in finals. Not the first big final he’s choked in within the last 2 months
It's not really shocking that players don't play as well against better teams a lot of the time.

Kane was excellent in the first half, dropping deep and linking play. After that we couldn't get the ball to him. He spent the whole game having to fight for scraps.

Criticising the one attacking player that contributed heavily to England reaching a final...hmmm. Didn't exactly have much to work with tonight, is he supposed to dribble it in from the half way line?

I’m reading a lot about Sterling and Kane carrying the team but from a neutral point of view no other players even got a look in. You’d have won that final with a much braver selection. Southgate has cost you lot 2 tournaments in a row yet he’s hailed like a king by so many.

Both Kane and Sterling were shite but Southgate needed the balls to sub them. Especially Sterling when he's the last you'd have taking a penalty.

hangin in there
Sterling looks for a penalty with every run into the box and the Italians and the ref didn’t give him one. He didn’t bottle it - just the ref didn’t buy what he was trying to sell.

Blame Southgate.

Got some of the best attacking players in Europe and this cnut plays with 7 defensive palyers.
This! If he was going to go defensive he should have put an extra man in midfield and won that battle. That would have sent them on their way. I definitely would have changed it at half time because Italy had all of the ball after the goal basically until Grealish came on. Pity.
