Huge fan of Fergie the football coach, may not agree with all his political views. But why mix politics with football? Why not let football be football and include everybody?
”Why mix a sport that has historically been riddled with politics with politics I don’t agree with?”

What is written in the OP is all very good. I was a proud United supporter up until the news came that they will wear Black lives matter on their shirts, a left-wing totalitarian movement that labels and seperates people in typical left wing identity politics fashion.

It is a crazy world atm. Left wing has become racist and fascist while calling themselves anti-fascist and anti-racist. I am so dissapointed with Manchester United.
Does this mean you aren't any more? This would be excellent news if so.

"Let's not be racist, black people are people too"

The bloody audacity of bringing the political statement of treating people equally into a sport that contains people of all background and races, the complete bastards.

Exactly, how dare they acknowledge a group of people's humanity!

What is this world coming to? What's next, are they gonna tell me the lives of the opposite sex are supposed to matter too?

Well, now that our lefty authoritarian evil scheme is out in the open, a purge is in order. I propose we start with mister @Pipan here, and throw in all the Scousers for good measure.

I was a proud United supporter up until the news came that Marcus Rashford, a left-wing totalitarian movement that separates baked beans from chips, gave free grub to kids.

I am so disappointed with Manchester United. And Heinz.
Agreed, why aren't we hearing more about how ALL sauces matter????

Are you saying Manchester United had no choice in the matter? From what I understand United thought it was a good idea.

The laughing emoji is the official forum response for people too stupid to make a counter argument. God bless you.
It was nice knowing you. White text.

During this lockdown we have seen:

Liverpool - ran by billionaires decide to try and use the governments furlough scheme to pay the handful of employees that they could easily afford to run themselves.
Man City - players constantly breaking lockdowns, the club going through a lengthy appeals process after they got caught cheating with financial fair play.
Tottenham - Illegally broke lockdown rules in a move that could encourage the general public to break lockdown rules.

Man United - One of the first clubs to announce we won't be using the lockdown rules.
Clubs has supplied schools across Manchester with food.
Marcus Rashford has become the voice of a nation helping out the most impoverished people in his local community.
Maguire got his teammates to give 30% of their wages to charities.
Players such as Lingard and Mata are known for their charity work.
Club donated all spare equipment to NHS staff.

I'd be very jealous of our club right now if I supported any other team. The way our club has responded to this has made me immensely proud to be a Manchester United fan.
You forgot to add the loan deals we didn't charge for as well.

Other than that good post/thread, untill @Pipan came along.

Imagine going to the pub one evening.

"Hey mate how you doing, fecking great game last night! Did you watch it?"
"Oh no I didn't see it, actually I don't support United anymore to be honest."
"You what?? How did that happen?!"
"Well they've come out and said that they're against racism, and I just can't get behind that sort of thing."

Piss off. Did you know Fergie was a Labour donor? Utd (and football in gerenal) has always been for the people.

On topic: great thread. A diehard United mate sent me an image detailing the percentages of clubs across Europe that had youth players in the first team. We were top with quite a large percentage. Didn't double check the validity but the fact that it's very believable is nice!!
The Labour government under Blair/Brown, first term aside, were awful. Not going to change my opinion on Fergie though.

Saw the OP, and thought 'oh, sweet summer child, this lovely positive thread will not end well.'

But even I didn't predict this!

You obviously weren’t playing out some incredibly intricate joke, so what exactly do you mean by this? I am genuinely curious if it’s possible to understand your logic here.

Cheers! Looks quite interesting. I find myself fascinated with how people are able to reach these insane conclusions and convince themselves they’re fact. Is it the Dunning-Kruger effect, or something else?
It's not my area of expertise but while there are some similarities I think it's different to Dunning-Krueger. The paper is an interesting read, though.

It's helped by the likes of Rooney and Mourinho being out of the club. With all due respect to Rooney, younger Rooney would have been caught pissed somewhere during the lockdown, and the older Rooney has spent these 3 months talking negative stuff about previous players/managers/friends just so he can get the headlines.

Probably go something like this:
