Jose asking who Diego is | Smooth haired scouse beating United legend

I wonder if, when debilish wakes up, the first thing he does is - open Red cafe, and type "Neville" in the search box, to see if some hapless soul was brazen enough to speak about the player in positive terms; stick his unlettered oar in and then rinse and repeat with other favorites from his list.

Do you have a hidden camera in my room or what?

I just checked there, it was 17 in total, 9 in the 02-03 season and 8 in the 03-04 season. I remember him being ridiculed for taking ages to score his first goal. But when he came, he hardly ever started matches for many months, and was often only playing for 5,10,15 minutes when he came on as a sub. Peter Crouch was starting games regularly for Liverpool after he signed, and took a long while to score for Liverpool, and he seemed to get a lot less stick than Forlan.

I think Crouch didn't score for 24 games at least. I remember this because I'm certain I was reading a paper and it had a "24" style montage of all the games Crouch had failed to find the net in. It was a big two page spread. I took it to my school and stuck it on the board.

Better not, your opinion on them and other United players is well documented. Not to mention the hilarious nicknames.

I don't have nicknames for the Nevilles but please go ahead.

I had forgotten about that game. Also notable for playing Roy Keane in central defence.

Man Utd: Howard, Silvestre, Gary Neville, Keane, Fortune, Miller, O'Shea, Djemba-Djemba, Giggs, Scholes, Smith.
Subs: Ricardo, Phil Neville, Bellion, Richardson, Forlan.

What a team. What a bench. Jose must have thought that this premier league was going to be a doddle.
They were some dark days for sure. I'm going to see if I can find the matchday thread.

Tell us everything you know, it's always a fascinating read. Don't forget Nicky Butt and Martin Ferguson, you haven't covered those anything like enough.

You can check about that yourself. Unlike many whose been here like since 2009 I stand to what I said. I never changed my nick like some coward would do

This devillish is the guy who has a bizarre dislike of Paddy McNair I recall.

@devilish .. chilax man. United are famous for their love of cult figures.. it is part of what makes our club special. It is probably just an english thing in general..

Solksjaer.. for example wouldn't be remembered by Madrid fans, but we idolise him.

Chico Hernandez, would be a nobody at Bayern.. and we couldn't get enough of him.

It is small time, but it is what makes this club special and I wouldn't change it for the world. There is a humility to United or english football sometimes that is very endearing, and it enriches the game rather than takes something away from it.. so I don't see the big deal and the need to whine about it.
Bayern got their own share of iconic figures:

TBF Tarnat had a great carreer at Bayern.

Believe me mate Im calm. I agree with what you said. My post was meant to try and explain Mou's POV too.
I don't know why you try to explain the POV of someone you probably never met. It's perfectly fine just posting your own POV. By speculating about Mourinho's views on the matter it looks to me as if you are trying to validate your own POV through that and it doesn't really seem necessary.

We have a fecking rock song about friggin' Roque Santa Cruz, which reached 32 in the German Single Charts...this really isn't just a Manchester thing.

Yeah, that makes sense. I did find it a bit weird/random and sent it over to a common friend so he passed it on to Diego (who always loved hearing it years after). It was odd to hear it over a decade later but it makes sense in that context.

Reminds me of an interview by forlan a couple of years ago about utd fans still singing his name after all these years. Imho, this is what makes utd special. And to think some fans think his is small time. Sigh.

This is the interview:http://thepeoplesperson.com/2015/03...ester-united-chant-gives-me-goosebumps-83297/

I had Diego as my Facebook profile pic in the build up to Juanfield so I'm taking credit for that win.

This seems like a joke that escapes me, dare to explain?

Bayern Munich is a team on the continent (mainland europe). So it's clearly not only us Brits who are in love with our cult heros, which goes against the entirety of devlishes stupid argument.

Oh, it'd appear I'm laughing at an entirely different joke in @Earthquake's post...

Okay, that was too easy. Thought it was some British saying I didn't know about :)

That's what I was laughing at. To 'frig' someone is to "stimulate the clitoris with your finger". Therefore the idea of having a song about frigging Roque Santa Cruz is quite funny...
