The arrogance here is staggering, Man Utd is a big club no doubt but atm you aren't CL big, bros you couldn't even win the Europa League last year.
Just accept where you are and build up back to the top (you will be there sooner or later), meanwhile don't be a plastic fan and be a winner fan instead, trying to win everything you can.
Of course, football wise, coach Mourinho scaled down until he found a desperate club he could actually push up a bit. Yet, more than football, it is the accomplishment in making a full stadium vibrant again and supporting him in full, which is something he really missed after so much poison (given and taken) in the last decade. He seems reconciled, it will not last long enough, yet it is a feel good story both parties needed at this time. Roma won very little, in their history, but Spurs comparison is not fair… more Arsenal, if you like, for their distinctive style, the number of great players who played for them, and the vibe emanating from their crowd in their stadium.
How has Smalling been this season? He looked dreadful in that Europe League game at OT, though to be fair he had just recovered from injury, but physically he looked shot that night.

Roma and Jose seem to be a match made in heaven. He tends to do his best work at clubs that go under the radar. Chelsea the first time (when everyone expected the title to be fought between us and Arse), Inter Milan, and maybe now Roma.

Cheers, only 32 as well, so should have another couple of years in him at a high level. A pity he picked up all those injuries almost as soon as the permanent transfer was finalized, dropped off the radr for many but has had an inspiring career from where he started from.
If we had got Perisic and (inevitably) still failed, they’d just move on to some other imagined slight or injustice. Maguire?

He's still a good manager and I wouldn't be surprised if he reignited his career and got back to the top. When he ends his career he'll be talked about as one of the greats.

We haven't been really lucky in the last 20 years. From 2005-6 to 2016-17 we came second 7 or 8 times. When we had a good squad, we were up against record-breaking teams (Mourinho's Inter and Conte's Juventus). The 2009-10 season, when Inter won the treble, is the one that hurts the most. We came so close to win that scudetto.
They lost 2 european finals. A UEFA cup final to inter, and most famously the European Cup in 1984. In Rome. On penalties. They also won a Fairs Cup, which is not recognized by UEFA, but still

Rome is not Milan nor Turin. It's a totally different experience. You don't realize it until you're there.
This season he has been their best defender in my opinion better than Mancini or Ibanez. Has taken over the leadership role in defence in organising, talking etc due to being the most senior defender. Mancini is very good but have more occasional lapses in him due to being still young, Smalling not so much. Not world class or anything but much better than he was for us mainly due to the serie A and it’s slow nature. Surprisingly, he doesn’t even look that much awkward with the ball and is more brave in his passing than he was ever with us. All in all he is a solid 7/10 this season.
He could become the first manager to have won all three iterations of UEFA competitions (ucl with inter and Porto, europa with us and now the inaugural winner of the conference).

One thing that makes me happy for him is that Roma is actually playing some decent football.
He tried his usual defensive stuff early in the season, saw it didn't work and then switched formation and now his team plays more on the front foot.

With respect to Emery (who I actually really like), his peak has never been as high as Jose's has, has it? And his subsequent fall has not been anywhere near as low either because of that.
Emery was mocked in England by a group of idiots but generally I doubt people across European leagues changed their opinion of him much. Mourinho has gone from winning the CL with Porto, winning it with Inter, breaking records with Chelsea and Real Madrid.....to getting fired by Tottenham (and justifiably so, even if the timing of it was shite).
Fair to say that the peak of his career has been at literally the pinnacle of the sport and will have made some of his recent embarrassments (many of them self-inflicted) even harder for him.
It doesn't mean I have to feel sorry for him or that I want him back at Spurs or that I don't acknowledge that he descends into toxicity regularly when things go wrong. But things don't have to be so black and white. He can be both a monumental twat who's career has been on a downward trajectory for 7 years and also potentially overcome with emotion that something is going slightly right for him at his current job.
