    He was.

Bailey had a quiet start but has scored a couple of goals since Bosz came in and Havertz has flourished too. Top four isn't out of the question with them having played most of the teams above them in the table but I'd be surprised if the current top four wasn't the top four at the end of the season.

Yeah I don’t really know enough about him, nor do I watch him often enough (outside of a handful of appearance over the last 2-3 years) to really “rate” how he’d fare at a top 6 club, nor a upper mid table EPL club. But money would definitely be a part of the motivation (I’d say English clubs should easily be able to double his wages - that’s without actually knowing what he’s on, mind).

But all fair points you raise.

Yeah, just judging solely by the video Damien uploaded, the tip of the diamond could well work. But like I said, I’ve not seen enough of him to properly rate him but from the little I do know - he’d be a good, and fairly cheap option - even if he ends up as a squad option - he’s versatile enough.

He's really improved under Bosz, seems to be taken off a leash and given the freedom to play in the final third with Havertz as well. I think this shows what his best position is, which is in the middle in a free role where he can influence play all across the final third. I would liken him to De Bruyne at the moment in terms of where he plays and how, he maybe lacks the playmaking excellence of De Bruyne but is a better dribbler.

Sadly, I don't think United have a position like that with Pogba in the side. Brandt's next best position is as a left winger, where we have Martial so again he won't be playing there consistently. As a right winger, as people are suggesting, it is not his best position at all and I don't think he'l do well there. At most, we can sign him as a backup to Martial but I hope for his sake it doesn't happen. He's a top talent and I hope he moves to a club, or stays at Leverkusen, where he can get more game time.

Maybe he can think of moving to Dortmund where he can play down the left where Guerriro currently plays.

We play with the diamond formation, where the 10 spot from Mata would be perfect for him. Also the Lingard role on the right with freedom to drift inside or stay to the right wouldnt be the worst. Ole showed in his first games that players can rotate positions and he could occupy the left wing spot for periods in a game. Not to speak when Pogba is injured or kept out of the game, there isnt a player to take over positionally and offensively. I dont see it as negative as you, depending on who moves on this summer and the way we set up, Brandt's versatility could be a huge asset. I am a big fan, his technical skills and balance are superb.

Id take him, one of the only promising players for Germany in the world cup. Fair enough we have a decent squad depth, but the depth in quality is where we fall short. All it takes is an injury to Pogba and our midfield will be catastrophic. He's versatile having been used wide before 25 Mill is very low risk.

Id love to steal him and Haivertz from them.

This guy would especially be a Mata upgrade

German, young, has a cheap release clause - why has Bayern not paid his release clause yet?

Impressive at the world cup and every time I've seen him. That's the kind of player quality our bench should have, even if he's not a starter. It's what the best teams have. Kai Havertz his team mate is pretty good as well. For first 11 we have to aim higher if we're looking to get back to the top. There might even be other good bargains out there as well. Isn't Christian Eriksen's contract running out next season? Good DoF and there's quite a few of these deals to be had.

Not correct to say that we don't need him. Our depth in the front four roles isn't hardly great but it's correct that we'd need to get rid of people first. Assuming Mata leaves in the summer that leaves us with Lingard, Rashford, Martial, Lukaku and Sánchez in 4 positions. Another Lingard would actually be great to have if that player can play more roles more adequately than Lingard. I think Lingard would be liked more if he were more positionally versatile instead of just OK on the whole as a #10.

Because he isn't that good......his next level is Dortmund or in England then Tottenham.

Bayern Munich's eyes are surely at Havertz because he is that outstanding talent.

They are targeting far superior talents to him for their particular needs. No slight on him. IMO we should take that opportunity because hed be
perfect for us if Solsjkaer gets the full time job. For he'd be comfortable at the tip of a diamond and on either flank. Plus he can operate as a striker in emergency.

Hes much better than Gnarby. Tbh if he's good enough for Tottenham then he's good enough for us, if they were to sign him everyone would be asking why weren't we in for him like with Eriksen, Son etc

Surprised no one above Leverkusen in Germany or europa league chasing club in other leagues haven't taken him yet.

He might not be world class but regular for Germany, hard worker, has an eye for goal. Reminds me of Schurrle when he was coming through at Mainz and then ironically Leverkusen and Chelsea at the time thought he was good enough for them.

Would he not be a decent signing for say Spurs? Can play a few positions across forward line and has similar stats to Son when he played in Bundesliga.

Think its safe to say Lingard be snapped up pretty quickly if he had a 25M release cause.

Can't say I'ce seen much at all but sounds like an obvious Mata upgrade with the bonus of being able to provide good cover for Pogba and Martial.

    Strong buy.

Would love him here as an 8 to replace lallana/Milner and with no telling how Ox comes back it’d be useful to have another of that type in the middle which we’re sorely lacking

Exactly, we're currently behind Spurs in the league if he's good enough for them then he's good enough for us. Especially at that price when we are in need of quality squad players.

Don't get hyped up about the release clause, I call bullshit on that one ;). Brandt extended his contract last year and Völler said that there was no such clause in his contract anymore. Nor do I think he'd be willing to move. Things are working out for him, he really looks f*cking incredible in Bosz' system. People in Leverkusen were extremely critical of him since he struggled under our (completely clueless) ex coach Herrlich whose misuse of Brandt alone should've been enough to kick him out. Now he's showing that there really is no German talent around he has to hide from. Honestly, he's that good. Those who've watched him 200+ minutes in his new role know that by now.

Since he's a really reflected person taking very planned deciaions I don't think he'll risk that one year before the next big international tournament. He can get much more out of a move in a year or so and if he continues this form (and I'm quite convinced he will), he can move under much more favourable conditions (financial and reputation wise).

He's best suited in one of the offensive CM positions in a midfield three I'd say. Perfect for a role like de Bruyne's or Silva's in City's squad or the Iniesta role at Barca. Since Bosz he also puts in the required defensive work and has consistently run between 12 and 13 km during 90 minutes. With him, Havertz and Aranguiz we managed games with 80% possession while still looking dangerous in attack. We even pinned Dortmund in their own playing third in the first 20 minutes and displayed a dominance you only know of Bayern or Dortmund under Tuchel.

Think I've never seen such a jump in such a short time from one of our players. I even struggle to think of any player that profited that much from a manager appointment. His development is truly great and in some months this will be more common knowledge.

However, if I had to guess where he's most likely to move this summer, I'd say Liverpool (Klopp's a fan of his and will have recognized his debelopment) or PSG (Rabiot leaving, Tuchel loves signing BL players and Brandt fits his system perfectly).

Couldn't be more different to Schürrle, actually. He may look like him but his skillset and weaknesses are the complete antithesis of him. Schürrle is very, very fast, has a great shot but struggles technically, both regarding ball control and passing. Brandt on the other hand excels at tight spaces, has one of the best first touches I've seen, dribbles more with body feints, skills and turns, is great at quick one twos but although he's also quite fast, he's not close to Schürrle in that aspect of his game. Also not that great from the distance.

Looking around other squads - Sturridge, Shaquiri, Chemberlain, Lovren, Mustafi, Xhaka, Lamela, Matshuay, Giroud, Barkley, Drinkwater, Walcott, Schneiderlin, Andy Carrol are all on wages in that range. If those duds get such money, it's pretty safe to say that someone will jump on Lingard for low fee consideting he's actually important for our attack right now and not just some side figure in the squad like some of those.

I have been thinking that the entire time reading here. People should hold their horses and not jump at some numbers Bild has made up. The first report concerning this release clause came from kicker though who are a bit more reliable in their reporting. They claim that he had a release clause costing €12m with additions and when he extended his contract the new clause is now more than double that. So obviously Bild thought: "Great, what is the lowest number that is more than double €12m?".

I think having a release clause lower than €35m would be bad business on Bayer's side and I do rate Völler as a manager. That is why I would think the clause does not exist in the form it is being reported. If Bayer can continue their current run of form I don't expect Brandt to move in the summer either.

Quite versatile player from what I've seen (admittedly I don't watch Bundesliga all that much, just Dortmund and Eintracht games) and quite surprised he's got a clause that low. Liverpool was already been linked to him and if Bayern doesn't end up buying James, can see them going for him.

Don't re-sign Mata and offload Sanchez, get this guy for squad depth.

I know he's been hurt at times but I can't believe we didn't sign sign Aranguiz for the 9M he went for 4 years ago. Leapt off the screen for Chile. A player like that to rotate with Herrera and Matic as our 2 deepest mids and a 10/RW to start on the right and backup Pogba as our creative mid like a Ziyech or Bernardo Silva type and our front 6 would be formidable next year.

Strange how underrated a footballer he is - one of the best creative central midfielders in Europe already. I think some people are waiting for EA to improve his FIFA ratings before appreciating him, because if people actually watched him they’d know he’s borderline world class at 22.

We should totally sign him and make him play as CM, like he is right now at Leverkusen. Unfortunately, and I don't know why, we never look into German players. Brandt is a future top 10 cm/cam, better than Pereira already and will probably be better than the likes of Mata and Lingard.

Find it hard to believe he's got that release fee and is still at Leverkusen. Always looks a real talent when I have seen him play. Was easily Germany's best player in Russia too and surprised he didn't start any games. However whenever he came on they looked a lot more dangerous.

Surprised that there's been no Liverpool links - unless I've missed them.

Could fit in well in Liverpools midfield, that's in need of some creativity. And it's a good price.

I guess they have Lallana who's just returned. Ox must still come back and Keita will probably still be given some time.
