Can they? When Tevez left City and was playing golf in Argentina for five months City could only punish him with 4-week fine because players' association wouldn't approve more. They can stop paying to Kane if he doesn't turn up, you know? Then its all about legal battles where Kane doesn't look too good.
Would have thought around 120m maybe? He's obviously better than Grealish but he's also a couple of years older so carries less resale value. Why a player of Kane's quality playing for a club like Spurs would sign a 6-year contract in his prime is beyond me.
Also, if Grealish is worth 100m how much will Kane go for? Surely at least the same amount?
He is more secure with a 6 years contract, with the Webster ruling Kane or any player can buy their contract after 3 years and the maximum enforcible length of a contract is 5 years. Here Kane is in the driving seat if he wants to, Spurs owe him a lot of money and he can decide to purchase his contract or he can go on strike. A shorter contract is only a good idea if you trust your body and don't want to play mind games with your club.Kane would have been financially secure for the rest of his life on a 4-year contract as well.
120m sounds pretty likely. He is older, but is probably the best striker in the league and there is also the Daniel Levy premium to consider.Would have thought around 120m maybe? He's obviously better than Grealish but he's also a couple of years older so carries less resale value.
The Son contract is mental. I'm sure they threw a lot of money at him but at his age, he had one last big contract and get in to any squad in Europe. Crazy signing extension with Spurs.Zero sympathy for Kane. You don't go signing long-term contacts with Levy if you have any sense of ambition or have an ounce of talent - he will milk you for all you're worth. Kane learnt nothing from seeing the likes of Carrick, Berbatov, Modric and Bale struggle to leave the club and fulfil their ambitions elsewhere.
Kane needs to fire his agent ASAP.
Son will come to regret his new contract soon as well.
As I said above he isn't stuck and financial security is subjective, you may think that what he already has is enough and he may have a different opinion. Keep in mind that these athletes have different life styles. While that all makes sense, a 6 year deal with Daniel feckin Levy of all chairman for a player of Kane's calibre is sheer stupidity. By all means sign a 3 year big bumper deal, but Harry only has himself to blame for being stuck in this spuds purgatory.
As for the financial security argument - he's already a multi millionaire, so I don't think his family will go hungry regardless of what happens with his career in the future. Even in the worst case scenario I'm sure can secure a lucrative 'retirement' deal in China or the MLS.
Wouldn't be surprised if I higher weekly wage is offered for more years tied to the club. The player takes the longer deal thinking he can earn more but still get out of the club if another club shows interestCertainly not the first. Kane, Zaha, Saint Maximin etc etc. There’s a bunch of talented midtable players who sign big deals in spite of the fact that they want to leave in the near future. Either they’re all very silly; they’re given false promises; or these contracts feature some very attainable salary increases/easier clauses in their contract to hit.
This is beyond accurate.Tweet

Were any big teams in for Son? Seems he has always been rated a notch below the truly world class wide players for some reason. The Son contract is mental. I'm sure they threw a lot of money at him but at his age, he had one last big contract and get in to any squad in Europe. Crazy signing extension with Spurs.
Thing is, if Levy has broken a gentleman's agreement, Kane needs to come out and state this to the press. I think Spurs fans would be much more understanding. Otherwise, Kane is completely destroying his legacy in the eyes of Spurs fans.If he has a gentelsmans agreement he can go for x amount, and the club refuse when they get the offer i can understand it from Kane.
.
There's a place for such agreements. In the contract. Why keep a key part of something that you negotiated for out of the contract in the first place? As Spurs themselves are proving so well: one CL final by itself doesn't mean a lot for the future. As far as I know his previous contract ran until 2021, so it would be entirely reasonable for him to demand an agreement that would allow him to leave after that (if Spurs don't develop as well as they had hoped) and it would be entirely reasonable for Spurs to accept such an agreement, because this way they get to collect a fee in 2021, instead of getting low balled in 2020 or losing him for free in 2021, if they had stuck with the old contract.
I have no idea whether such an agreement was in place, but I find it a bit weird to basically say it's the player's fault if the club go back on their promises, if we just shrug that off as the game being the game, then the same applies to players forcing a move.
Seeing as he can't breathe with his nose, he may actually have sleep apnea!Maybe he just overslept.
So weird. People who didn't follow football that closely would be aware of it.Bit of a mental thing to say.
And conditions of the agreement have been met, which doesn't appear to be the case here. The thing about a gentleman's agreement is that they only work if they're made by gentlemen.
Some gentlemen agreements do not comply with contract laws, while they may make sense in football, they are not necessarily legally applicable. One key issue is when a clause makes a contract clearly unbalanced, it opens the possibility for the contract to be entirely voided. That's why you often hear about gentlemen agreements. There's a place for such agreements. In the contract. Why keep a key part of something that you negotiated for out of the contract in the first place?
In this instance his agent is his brother .‘Had enough of his antics. His agent and brothers are a disgrace.’
No one is painting Spurs as the "bad guys" They are blaming Kane for being stupid and not have it written into his contract that he can move for a certain price and having a "gentlemen's agreement" with Levy. Can't believe some are trying to paint Spurs as the bad guys in all of this, Spurs are not obliged to sell Kane and they are certainly not obliged to sell for the figure that Kane and City have decided he's worth. Harry Kane signed a contract, Spurs didn't hold a gun to his head, if he wanted to ensure some kind of get out clause in the future then he should have insisted on one in writing. Maybe he did have a verbal agreement last summer but I'm pretty sure the agreement wasn't that the club would let him go for whatever price City have decided they want to pay. If City want the player then they pay what the selling club wants, it's quite simple. Kane doing all this just to try and drive his price down and force a move through reflects terribly on him, not Spurs.
Can envision Kane doing that though? He is more secure with a 6 years contract, with the Webster ruling Kane or any player can buy their contract after 3 years and the maximum enforcible length of a contract is 5 years. Here Kane is in the driving seat if he wants to, Spurs owe him a lot of money and he can decide to purchase his contract or he can go on strike. A shorter contract is only a good idea if you trust your body and don't want to play mind games with your club.
I don't know and I don't think that it's needed either. He can do what most players do, create a bit of tension in order to get a move. Can envision Kane doing that though?
Nothing has been confirmed formally but he was due to return today and the silence speaks volumes. I'm happy for him to go, but only if as a club we get paid what is due. City have made a real hash of this, if they wanted both Kane and Grealish Kane should have been made the priority. Now they are signing Jack for £100M and offering the same to Levy for Harry all the while clearly telling Harry if he wants the move he himself needs to push on it, if this goes south and he doesnt get his move he is going to look like a bit of a dick.Do we actually know or is this just media speculation? If he has just gone awol, is this the type you want at your club?
This is exactly the reaction Kane and City are hoping for. Create a bunch of drama to push Spurs into selling for a figure below what they deem acceptable, it won't work though as seen previously with someone like Modric.Do we actually know or is this just media speculation? If he has just gone awol, is this the type you want at your club?
They ain’t signing Jack Shit! He isn’t leaving for 100mNothing has been confirmed formally but he was due to return today and the silence speaks volumes. Maybe they club didn't want to open the door to release clauses or they couldn't necessarily agree on a fixed sum, but made some agreement to be reasonable. It's kind of what Dortmund did with Sancho. There's a place for such agreements. In the contract. Why keep a key part of something that you negotiated for out of the contract in the first place?
