In fairness Atletico had a slow start last season and weren't miles off Barca in the end.

Vigo is also one of the more difficult away games in Spain as Real Madrid and Barca have found out in recent seasons.

Problem with Atletico becoming more open is they became looser in defence so result like this and Simeone will probably get them playing in a bunker fashion again from next week.

Grinding out 1-0 wins is just them, anything else is a big risk and more results like today will come.

Alt Madrid has been over-rated this season? They barely beat a newly promoted side 1-0 last week
Par for the course really, sort of like PSG in the CL. In fairness they did have an unusually good transfer period this summer, but Simeone, for all his good characteristics, is simply unable to consistently grab 90+ points in a league season which is required in La Liga nearly every season. Obviously dropping points at Valencia and Celta is hardly the end of the world, but it doesn't look to bode well for their title challenge.

I remember quite a few people on the caf saying Bale wouldn't be a good signing for us, too injury prone etc. Wish Woodward would get his finger out and start signing that level quality players for the team.

Bale will win the Balon D'or next year if he stays fit. Monster.
Yeah, who would have thought? Make him the focal point of the team and numbers will invariably rise, especially in a team as stacked in quality as Real Madrid.

Simeone struggles to get the best out of new signings even if they should fit his system.

I know that it is very early in the season, but he fancied Savic/Giménez over Arias, Koke/Thomas/Saul over Lemar and Rodri. Vitolo, who should be the perfect Simeone player, is also fairly non existent. The list goes on and on. Gameiro, Gaitan, Jackson, Vietto, Augusto Fernandez, Kranevitter, Alderweireld, Mandzukic. Even Carrasco was shipped out again. Costa and Filipe Luis on the other hand come back and fit in again (even so Filipe Luis declined a lot...).
Gabi is gone now and any combination of Koke, Saul and Thomas, that just tries to recreate the system of the past, is going ot be worse. Non of them can do what peak Gabi could do for the team. If he wants to stick to his system, he has to use Rodri.

Benzema scored 5 goals in the league last year. Already on 4.

Same, never in doubt.
And i certainly did not spend the entire first half cussing him out

They gave the pen. 4-1. Not sure ball was still in play honestly

And gives us one of the worst celebrations in history in the process.

Always hated his lack of hunger, you could see him roaming the same area Ronaldo was around so you'd think his instinct was right, he just liked forming a partnership better than fighting for his goals vs Ronaldo like Higuain did.

We'll see if he can keep this finishing until May, but he's scary now.

I agree Bale is great atm....;)

Seriously Benzema always been like that. I remember for France in euro 2012 he played pretty much the whole tournament on the edge of the penalty area, poaching goals in six yard box isn't for him.

Doing well atm but we'll see if this holds up in business end of CL.

He's their Dwight Gayle. He was good at 2nd division level(Valladolid, Zaragoza and Levante), but not good enough for La Liga.
Levante has signed Borja Mayoral on loan for this season.
