Very sad RIP. Hope Sir Alex is doing ok. I expect there will be a gesture at tomorrows game. Maybe a minute of silence

Ahh RIP. I hope this doesn't lead to a downturn for the great man as well, as can happen sometimes

Vert sad news indeed- RIP Lady Cathy.

They say behind every great man, there is a greater woman. And that was certainly the case with SAF.

She will have to be honoured a minute of silence, considering her husband has given 40 years of his life to the club with which she was by his side throughout.

RIP and we all hope the best for Fergie in this time.

Can't imagine how difficult it must be to lose someone you've been with for six decades. Very sad news

Terrible news. I hope the family are okay.
I think it was in the never give in
documentary, When United won the treble in Barcelona, one of the first things Sir Alex did was look for Cathy in the stands. 24 years have passed so fast. RIP Cathy.

What awful news. Sir Alex was married to Cathy for 57 years.
My heart goes out to Sit Alex and his family at this very sad time.

RIP Cathy poor Sir Alex :(

I'd like to think the team will cheer him up by thumping Brentford tomorrow but I doubt it.

We turned in a truly inept, apathetic, lazy display when he returned after nearly dying. I doubt it will register at all with the players.

RIP Cathy. 60 years together and she was so often at Old Trafford.

Any success from 2002 to 2013 is down to her. Even though she wasn't a football fan, she was selfless in convincing Sir Alex to stay, she was obviously thinking of him and possibly the millions of fans who idolised him.

Any time Sir Alex spoke about her, it was pure love, you can see it in his eyes. A sad day, hope him and his family are ok.
