Is this thinking flawed? Do all our signings have to be under a certain price? I think we should sign the best players available to give us the best possible chance of success. Am I wrong?

Of course, I got many a cracking deal at Aldi, maybe not as nourishing a meal as the M&S alternative but still good enough. The best possible players don’t necessarily have to be the most expensive. Cheap doesn’t automatically equate to bad.
But generally, price shouldn’t be a primary deciding factor.
I never rated Shaw. Never got the hype. Robertson played against Ireland for Scotland a few years before Liverpool signed him and I remember thinking he is a fecking good player. In fairness, Aldi ran M&S pretty close this year, for best UK Supermarket. 78% to 77%

Put it this way: Robertson cost £8m. Shaw cost £30m
I hope you're not suggesting my analogy is flawed and therefore this thread has a limited shelf life?I actually find there’s a myth about how expensive M&S is if you shop right it often equates to less than Tesco for example, same can be said for a football comparison..
We should sign the players who fits the way manager wants to play. That should be first criteria. Is this thinking flawed? Do all our signings have to be under a certain price? I think we should sign the best players available to give us the best possible chance of success. Am I wrong?
Definitely agree with that.We should sign the players who fits the way manager wants to play. That should be first criteria.
He really is.I never rated Shaw. Never got the hype. Robertson played against Ireland for Scotland a few years before Liverpool signed him and I remember thinking he is a fecking good player.
Sell by date doesn’t look good..I hope you're not suggesting my analogy is flawed and therefore this thread has a limited shelf life?
A Turkey from M&S?It depends on what turkey you bought from M&S. This year we went for 'our best ever' crown which cost a fair bit more than the others in the shop but it was fantastic.
A picture of it before it went into the oven. I put a bar of butter on top just to make it more unhealthy:
Here it was just after carving. Note the delicious stuffing on the end. This is not a shitty Aldi turkey... This is an affluent and like-minded M&S turkey:
Here it is on the plate before I added the gravy and bread sauce. Yum yum. Only the finest for me:
Nice. Reminds me of when we signed Yorke even though Kidd was imploring Ferguson to sign Hartson. It depends on what turkey you bought from M&S. This year we went for 'our best ever' crown which cost a fair bit more than the others in the shop but it was fantastic.

Bit early to write off Garnacho.when I was 16 i worked in a place that made M&S meals, and haven't touched any food from there since
I think we should go back to a time when buying premium was rare and only for talent that was actually worth it (Rio, Stam etc). The rest was spent on talent who are a step or two away from greatness whom we needed to develop. We also need to be careful not to buy pound shop products on Harrods prices as Ole did in his first transfer windowIs this thinking flawed? Do all our signings have to be under a certain price? What's that got to do with the price of turnips?I think we should go back to a time when buying premium was rare and only for talent that was actually worth it (Rio, Stam etc). The rest was spent on talent who are a step or two away from greatness whom we needed to develop.
That roast looks decent, but could use some Yorkshires, more veg and some sauce. It depends on what turkey you bought from M&S. This year we went for 'our best ever' crown which cost a fair bit more than the others in the shop but it was fantastic.

We also need to be careful not to buy Pound shop products on Harrods prices as well (ex Maguire and AWB)What's that got to do with the price of turnips?
Joking of course, I agree.
Look at PSG, they have Mbappe, Messi and Neymar and they struggled. The best possible team, does not consist of the best possible players. Regarding the price, the price should not be a problem regarding the top top talents. Nobody would blink an eye if we bring Mbappe or Haaland for 200m this summer, however buying players like Maguire for 80mp pounds, Fred for 50+m pounds is absolute dogshit crazy. We could have gone shopping to Aldi and bought a better midfielder for 20m at the time we bought Fred.Is this thinking flawed? Do all our signings have to be under a certain price? Buy up and coming players and develop them add a few proven winners and you've got a team that should be fine. We rarely buy the finished article. Is this thinking flawed? The best possible players that fit a system obviously. For example a lot of people don't want Rice because we'd be 'ripped off'. I'd give my left testicle to have him in our team next season though.Look at PSG, they have Mbappe, Messi and Neymar and they struggled. The main reason for keeping individual player prices down this summer would be because we have a lot of positions that need filling. Is this thinking flawed?
