It should save us all two wasted days constantly checking this forum and Twitter and needlessly getting our hopes up.

There are 2 days to go and the only plausible press speculation involving Man Utd is De Gea's exit.
Forcing through a mega-deal for Bale/Muller/Neymar is never going to happen this late in the window. Unlike last season, there aren't any examples of players of Falcao or Di Maria's reputation still being offered around (Pedro was the one this year).
Deals involving lesser players look increasingly complicated. The prices demanded by PL clubs (Stones and Berahino being the prime examples) mean we would need to be desperate to meet the asking prices for Kane/Mane etc (and we're not desperate after the start we've had).

At the end of the day, LVG appears to have a squad he can work with. The plan is to sign superstars or stick with what we've got and rely on the youth team if injury/suspension impacts the squad. The ship has sailed on signing superstars this season...

We can all try to convince ourselves that we're not buying anybody, and that may well be the case. But that's not going to stop anyone checking online every five minutes.

Muppets gonna mupp.

There's still hope of a deadline day transfer that will shock the footballing world.

I reckon the Bale & De Gea deal will go through.

I still think we'll get someone before the window shuts. LVG allowing Chicharito to leave only strengthens that idea, because we're pretty fecking weak up front at the moment.

Or Hernandez for Kane? You never know given his shocking form for Spurs. We may get him at a cut price.

Its now Ronaldo & De Gea
now James and De Gea
Modric & De Gea
Kroos & De Gea
Navas & De Gea
Carvajal & De Gea
Benetiz & De Gea

and it will end up as De Gea leaving.

So you're saying I can start the thread bashing van Gaal and Woody for a shit summer?

I think we will make 1 more signing, an attacker.

Who though is anyone's guess.

Think we could end up panic buying just to boost the numbers, especially if Hernandez moves on. I have a feeling we may have a deal in place with QPR for Austin. I find it odd that he hasn't moved yet and wouldn't be at all surprised if we've struck a deal based on us not getting a more preferred target. Let's face it if I was Austin or his agent then I'd happily take not necessarily being a first choice target at Manchester United than I would a first choice striker at somewhere like WBA or Norwich.

Look at teams like Chelsea and City with strikers like Remy and Bonny, Austin would be a similar sort of back up striker. The fee would be peanuts and negotiations would be simple and you know the player would crawl up the M6 on his hands and knees to join United. I think Austin would guarantee PL goals at a big club. Wouldn't be the answer in the CL but he'd be a good physical alternative to Hernandez in that he's stronger and holds the ball up better.

Ibrahimovich is still gettable - even on a Falcao like deal ;)

But yeah, LvG won't sanction that deal.

Not that much time left for speculation. I think our credentials as title contenders will rest on our ability to sign another top attacking talent, mainly a striker or a winger on that right side.

So you've made a thread because you want everyone else to share your opinion that we won't bring anyone else in?

Even though we might bring someone else in.

I agree. I do think with the current squad we can finish high up though, but not win the league. What annoys me is the overreactions at us not buying an attacker..''top 4 possibly gone now''..''cupless again then'' etc...

I'm looking forward to seeing our plan when Rooney gets injured on international duty.

Yes, PSG would definitely loan their second all-time scorer a few hours before the window closes so that they end up with Lavezzi and Augustin as only forward backups.

Gotta feeling we're trying to get a striker, but if we don't get one, I just hope Rooney is enough for the prem and CL.
We need a striker. Wouldn't surprise me if it's Cavani.

You will always have overreactions. People on here were saying most of our team is shit when we were winning league titles almost every season and regularly making champions league finals and semi-finals. Not making top 4 is just stupid, I think van Gaal has done an excellent job in selling players who aren't needed and strengthened areas like midfield and our back 4 by signing Darmian. In 2 seasons he managed to clear our squad from all the players we used to consider as dead wood and now we're finally looking like a van Gaal side except for what I mentioned earlier, our lack of top attacking options.

As long as I see progress from last season, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we don't win anything. Finishing in the top 3 and getting to at least the quarter finals of the Champions league would be a good run.

I'll be checking this forum transfer window or not

I'm quite excited

If we sell De Gea and Valdes we'll be about 32 million in the black with close to 800k off the wage bill

Economic victory

Overall we've had a very good window, Pedro would have made it great but I have foolish faith in Wazza scoring 30 this year

If it is so be it. You can't say we haven't tried, if the clubs don't want to sell and players don't want to leave not much you can do.

The Pedro one is a bit of a sickener but lets see how he gets on to see if LVG was right to have reservations.

I think we've done not bad we've re-shaped the squad and have depth in midfield I just worry with the attackers we have lost and not replaced. With the extra games this season it seems strange to be going into the season with less options. At the same time though would rather wait than spend more money on shit just to fill the squad.

Everyone seems to think that letting Hernandez go means we are bringing in another striker. My view on it is that it means we will definitely be starting Rooney every single game he is fit to start while relying on Wilson to be the backup. If they're both injured at the same time, I can definitely see us going the false 9 route with Memphis being used in the free scoring role. I just don't see us signing another striker at this stage.

Can only see a keeper coming in to replace de gea, maybe a stiker who can be a backup but that's it. Think there was just too much to do this window and next summer we may well need a keeper, a cb and a couple of forwards.

This season is about finishing in top four and maybe winning a cup and we should be good enough to do that but nothing more unfortunately. I just hope we start to drop the obsession of getting a superstar because we will find it just as hard next summer and we Re producing enough talent from the academy to take us to the next level either.

If the opportunity come us to get bale or muller then great but relying on it is stupid and we will only tread water if we adopt the strategy of it's either a superstar or no one.

Very clearly a big signing will not be coming in this late in the window. There may still be a few in and outs though like Hernandez and De Gea out with a new keeper possibly coming in. Valdes too.
Although it's not one we'd hoped for with a new striker we've strengthened anyway.

I don't think we are done though. I'd expect at least one signing on deadline day. I also don't think de Gea is leaving at this stage. Madrid have to sign him by the end of tomorrow remember. Whether we're going to sign a superstar is another story, but I could actually see us signing as many as 3 on deadline day (not saying we necessarily will). LVG is definitely still interested in signings, and I think that's clear from his press conferences. Even if we don't sign someone, I'm okay with the squad we have tbh. Selling Hernandez without a replacement would be foolish though imo (if we do sell him, I'd expect to see someone like Pato replace him though). Thankfully, not long left to find out.

I'd say Fellaini is more likely to be our 2nd choice striker than Wilson or Memphis

If we're letting Hernadez go, SURELY we've got a striker lined up! Current options nowhere near enough.

Please let's not end this transfer window with a positive net spend! We're not Arsenal! If we sell Hernandez for £12m and De Gea for £29m which is the 40m euros going around the media, that would mean we made a profit of £41m from selling and buying players this window. We all know where that profit goes at the end of the day unless we spend the money.

We must have a player or two lined up, Chicharito is on his way out. Di-Marzio is rarely wrong when it comes to transfers.

Didn't watch it, but looks like Mane had a great game today.

yeah he played really well, he was man of the match easily. I wouldnt like us to sell hernandez if we were only bringing in mane as they aren't like for like players, if we just signed mane without any of our players outgoing then I'd be happy with that.

Basically if we keep the squad we have now with the addition of mane then that'd do me fine.
