Argentina are just team spirit and him. Croatia will be a very tight game. He's had an excellent WC so far.
Doesn't help that every other player with a fraction of creativity is on the bench (I mean, Mac Allister? Really?) but yeah, he's carrying them more than I expected he could at this point, or would need to.

Feels like this could be his moment. A World Cup win would be a fitting end to an incredible career.

I don't think he has it in him to carry this side all the way but he's having a fine tournament.

Scoring 2 important pens in a world cup quarter final, I wonder will the posters who trashed him / called him a bottler give him his props today?

Does he even look at Molina?

The question is...how? How he does it?

Had to look to see if he scored though, so can't give him much credit

incredible pass

Argentina have possibly the best defence in the competition and a solid midfield. Messi gives them that edge though.

Looked knackered in extra time. Calm penalty though.
This. Looks utterly whammed. Yet, every time he drops in midfield and picks up the ball it’s almost a guaranteed attacking chance for them.

Others need to up their offensive game against Croatia. Felt as if their only attacks came via his influence only today.

It's now or never, Argentina lacks quality overall, the next WC they won't have Messi to carry them.

And no one on this argentinian side bar the City guy and Martinez looks like it's gonna hack it at the highest level at top clubs like vintage argentinian players.

How can they have the best defense when they cant keep a clean sheet?

"What are you looking at, moron? What are you looking at? Go over there, moron"

Messi to someone from the Dutch bench

No way Argentina beats France with this anti football crap. I really dislike Argentina but I love Messi. What a player. Imagine the highlight videos when he retire. Even the Outtakes would be better than Ronaldos best of.

To be fair the the goals vs Saudi (1 deflection, 1 worldy) and the goal vs Australia ( massive deflection) all had an element of luck around them.

Today was the first time they were massively exposed and that was only after the Dutch started pumping it to the 2 giants upfront.

It's gonna be tough, next game will be another thriller probably. It's so hard to win a World Cup.
I hoped the Dutch would win but it wasn't to be. You got to hand it to them, they make a competitive team each tournament.

He's not wrong. They haven't conceded many chances, just the other teams have been clinical in front of the goal. Heck, I think they have the fewest shots against them on target all tournament.

They're a very tough team to beat. Croatia will have to be clinical against them to win.

He's been incredible.

If Argentina win it all, he'll win the Golden Ball again.

How anyone can think he is not the greatest player of all time is crazy, he's absolutely ridiculously good.
Some of those people won't realise how good he is until he retires and they watch games back.

Since he was 19 I've watch games when they come on because you always see something special.

Indeed,
He then got a yellow later in the game as well, was a very lucky boy.
