Seems quite awhile to their next game although that last rest didn’t do them much good. Haven’t seen anything of Bayern this season. Liverpool fans confident?
I’m like you and haven’t seen much of them either. I think we’ll be ok in the first leg but the second leg will be interesting. Our away form in Europe is atrocious.

From what I’ve seen of Bayern and what I can extrapolate from their team lineups, Liverpool’s pressing and pace is going to be a big shock for them. Don’t think their defence has any hope of coping with Liverpool’s front three and I’d take wijnaldum over any of the bayern midfielders which is staggering given the level Thiago was supposed to be at by now.

Robben and Ribery are STILL playing for them  I'm sure they're not first choice and are probably like Giggs and Scholes were for us but still, impressive.

Interesting period for Liverpool now. Two ties with Bayern and premier league aways to Man. United and Everton in next month.

They'd still rather have the cushion of at least 5 point lead going into those but I think if they're still top after that period they'll go onto win it.

United away obviously miles tougher than it would've been 6 weeks ago.

Watched Bayern a lot this season and did so tonight Vs Schalke... we'll shit them. It might be so bad some Arsenal fans will convert to Kloppism. Not worried a jot about United, worse case scenario a draw.

It will be a close tie for sure.

Bayern a bit like Real Madrid for me. Were poor up to November but have picked up a fair bit since and we know these teams are different beasts in CL knock outs.

I don't think it would be a bad thing for Liverpool to go out as PL has to be number one priority this season. Could kill a bit of momentum but you've stayed up there after going out of FA cup which was obviously not a priority.

Aye mate, agree to a certain extent especialy the bit about teams like madrid and Bayern. This season is different though, for a start Bayern are absolute trash this season, honestly some of their play is shocking. The Schalke goal against them today proof they aren't the solid German machine of old days. This is my opinion and I stick by it... but I would take these shit houses burying us for 8 if it meant we win at United and won the League. Having said that, UCL is crucial just for the momentum it will give us going into the league matches.

TBH I really haven't seen that many games in all european leagues this season compared to previous 2-3 years. Mainly due to how useless/unlucky my betting strategy has been. Previous years I'd have watched the full 90 minutes of many Bayern games but hardly any this year and same for Seria A and French league (the way these leagues get dominated now at the top also turns me off tbh).

Anyway you can certainly trouble their defence. Neuer simply isn't the keeper he was and we saw at WC the standard Boateng and Hummels are at so high line and Liverpool front three will get chances although I don't think they're at their best moments in the season, particularly Firmino who seems to have dropped his level significantly since xmas.

I like your confidence. Wish I had it. We've got a very tough game vs Man United where we very well could drop two or three pts if we're not up to it. Fingers crossed that our drop of form is over.

Wijnaldum has grown to be our main man in midfield. Another one we absolutely need to stay fit from now on. Great to have TAA back too. I'm relieved that we looked like a good team again.

The tempo of our play was very fast today which has been lacking. We must continue playing intricate one twos, and switching the ball to on rushing cutters on either flank. This style evidently discombobulates opponents.

Bizarre username! Is the misspelling intentional? I'm thinking it must be considering you spelled discombobulate right. ;)

Come on Lad! Have belief. Did you ever in a million years think we would be ahead of this city side that has spent 50 mil on every playeer right now in February? If you can't have confidence now when can you?! We have suffered fecking long enough and I think the drought end this season. United game is key and I think someone so attached to United like Solskjaer will set his team up to attack us which will ultimately play into our hands.

Klopp has already proven by bumming out of the domestic cups, that he only wants the league, which is poor, for even a medium sized club to operate.

Having been beaten by each of his CL group team's, he knows they're not good enough and he'll not be too upset if Bayern win through.

So he'll have a squad of 25 players all trying to get into the Saturday 11.

It worked at Dortmund when he won the league

I think it would have been really better for Bayern Munich if they would have the 1st leg at home.....i have the feeling Liverpool will win the 1st leg 3-1 or even 4-1....1st leg at home and they could win but yep i think too Liverpool will "shock" Bayern Munich at Anfield......Kovac will have no plan for Liverpool's football and their defence is really awful this season.

You just have to love Liverpool fans at this stage of the season, they can’t help themselves. To be fair that’s exactly the reason for all those glorious fan gifs as reality downs on them.

We were also expected to beat Leicester and Westham. This win is significant because it reinforces, the belief that may have been dented by recent poor results. Our demeanour indicates that the team is very confident and will perhaps start a dreaded new win streak.
Only one problem, United is your next match :)

Was a good win and performance for the vermin yesterday.

But honestly, other than Fulham, Bournemouth would be next on the list if you could hand pick a side to play next at home.

It's an expected and easy win.

I hope the liverpool players are like Oga and think they only have to turn up at Old Trafford to get a result.

It's time for revenge against Liverpool in a couple of weeks. We just have to knock them off their perch again.

After a win like that they have a lovely break till the next league game, its a nice momentum killer. If I was them, I'd have wanted another league game asap to keep the good feeling.

Highly depends on City result later, dropped points and Liverpool will be happy with the break. City win to go top and it’ll just slowly build up in pressure until the game at OT in 2 weeks time.

Absolutely. Ask any footballer/athlete and they will tell you the same thing: when you’re winning, the games can’t come quick enough. Having a prolonged absence between games can often be a hindrance (remember Liverpool having a fortnight off before the Champions League Final last season whilst Madrid had a La Liga fixtures in the interim?) as it can lead to too much focus on a single match for too long a time. That’s how pressure begins to build and the players will feel that tension. Playing other matches is the best tonic to neutralise that.

I noticed today that yourselves and Liverpool have the exact same remaining fixtures v Top 6 teams (Chelsea and Spurs at home, and United away). If you beat Chelsea today, it’s another tricky fixture ticked off whilst, as you say, the pressure will build on Liverpool ahead of the United fixture. If I was a Liverpool player, I’d sure love an FA Cup fixture in between to break up that tension.

I thought the biggest problem we'd face this season is burn out. Evidently not it seems. Not playing enough games is now the new playing too many games.

Our next game is Bayern Munich at Anfield on the 19th. All our focus will be on that before the Utd game 5 days later. The Bayern match should give us that momentum going into Old Trafford. If we played UCL this week, we'd have a 12 day break before the Utd game which wouldn't be good I don't think

How about a game v Bayern Munich to take the pressure off?

 So apparently scoring 1/4 goals from offside is fine but getting a penalty is not

Ha ha ha ! :D

Squeaky bum time gets them uttering inanities! :D

You’re both really funny, and very forgetful, clearly.

Of course a quarter of our goals have been offside. Oh dear...

You have won more penalties than any other team in the league.

The point of course being, that the same people whinging that Liverpool have the rub of the green, choose to omit the fact you have more of the green than anyone at the moment.

People will point to our West Ham goal being offside, but choose to not also say their goal was offside.

So my very, very, funny friends, in a world of myth and fact, fact always wins.

It tends to cut the poor opinions of others out.

What the feck are you on about? Getting a penalty isn't lucky at all. If it's a dive or undeserved then sure, but how on earth can you say the number of penalties received is an indicator of luck?

Oh dear  Please do other Liverpool fans here a favour and never show up again

It’s hard to suffer burnout when you continually crash out of domestic cups at the first hurdle under your awesome manager...

Still doesn't alter the fact that the narrative on here changes depending on how many, or how few, matches, we play over the course of the season. We've gone from: "Let's see how Liverpool fare when they're playing 3 games a week", to: "Not playing on a regular basis will hamper Liverpool's chances because they'll lose their focus & feel the pressure"

Crazy innit ?

Oh feels good seeing salty rivals getting bitter about some decisions for us while they have been diving and scoring offside goals the entire season. We're not even challenging and it's like Fergie days.
