Not going to happen. I have just tripled up on Liverpool players on fantasy football now. Might consider captaining a Liverpool defender until then
I think Klopp will field mainly kids again in the 4th round of the FA Cup. If they get us through to the last 16 then he might start taking it seriously, especially if we continue the way we have in the league. There's a 2 week break coming up at the start of Feb so the players should be refreshed & raring to go for the remainder of the season, so provided we don't suffer a glut of injuries then I can't see tiredness being an issue.Unlikely because Klopp seems to not care about domestic cups and has a bee in his bonnet with the FA anyway over the fixture schedule.
They could easily win the PL n CL double though like we did in 2008. In fact I think they will do. Who is realistically going to beat them? City at a push could if they have Laporte back fit. Wouldn't fancy any of Madrid, Bayern, Barca or PSG over two legs vs this Liverpool team. They will all cack themselves at Anfield like usual.
He's not lying though. Too many top teams are in transition.I mean, did we though?
We won the Champions League in 2007/08, a season in which:
- Juventus just got back from Serie B because of calciopoli
- Bayern didn't even play in the CL
- Real Madrid were slap bang in the middle of their amazing "can't even make the last 8 in the CL" run
- Barcelona finished 3rd in La Liga behind Villarreal and struggled to get past Celtic in the CL, as the likes of Ronaldinho and Deco basically couldn't be arsed anymore and "just give it to Messi" wasn't as effective as in later years
- Milan clearly didn't have another run like 06/07 in their ageing squad and in the end finished 5th in Serie A
Our biggest rivals both home and in Europe were Chelsea, managed by Avram fecking Grant.
We were a fecking great team back then and fully deserved all the trophies. It was a fun ride and all. But frankly, denigrating Liverpool's achievements because "the competition is weak" makes us look very bitter and RAWKish, especially considering the above.
Yes, that indicates a strong league in comparison to the other European leagues. Not everybody taking points of everybody.3 teams in CL semis last year, 2 in EL final
How much does it cost to evacuate the planet?Imagine if they win the treble

Just like it was in 2008. That was the point of the post you replied to. If Utd deserved their CL win in 2008, the same goes for Liverpool in 18/19. It's quite simple really. But you knew that. He's not lying though. Too many top teams are in transition.
It's obvious not that simple as you're managing to talk shiteJust like it was in 2008. That was the point of the post you replied to. If Utd deserved their CL win in 2008, the same goes for Liverpool in 18/19. It's quite simple really. But you knew that.
Would be great but it’ll be the usual 1 or 2 nil defeatWolves are going to end the unbeaten run on Thursday
I don't think you'll find too many of us care about the unbeaten record. It's all about getting our hands on the big shiny thing in May and as long as we do that, I don't care if we do the minimum of win 9, draw 3 and lose 4 to get it.Wolves are going to end the unbeaten run on Thursday
I never said Liverpool fans do, even as an Arsenal fan I don't care as I don't want our fans to just talk about history like your fans love to do, this is a Utd forum though and they will always want you to loseI don't think you'll find too many of us care about the unbeaten record. It's all about getting our hands on the big shiny thing in May and as long as we do that, I don't care if we do the minimum of win 9, draw 3 and lose 4 to get it.
But if you have it you'll definitely gloat about it.I don't think you'll find too many of us care about the unbeaten record. It's all about getting our hands on the big shiny thing in May and as long as we do that, I don't care if we do the minimum of win 9, draw 3 and lose 4 to get it.
Thanks for telling me how I'll act random internet stranger that I've never metBut if you have it you'll definitely gloat about it.
This. It's a good thing to have because at some point we'll have a barren spell trophy wise and at least we'll have an "invincibles" label to brag about during the lean years. But first things first. Let's just win the damn thing so that we can discard our supposed fake humility and wum away! I won't even be interested in the unbeaten record until we're 3 games from it (Arsenal away, Chelsea at home, Newcastle away ffs). Speaking of which, I know that Arsenal got a golden PL trophy for going unbeaten. A couple of questions:But if you have it you'll definitely gloat about it.
I dont think anything would be given for beating a specific points total, because thats something that is variable.This. It's a good thing to have because at some point we'll have a barren spell trophy wise and at least we'll have an "invincibles" label to brag about during the lean years. But first things first. I won't even be interested in the unbeaten record until we're 3 games from it (Arsenal away, Chelsea at home, Newcastle away ffs). Speaking of which, I know that Arsenal got a golden PL trophy for going unbeaten. A couple of questions:
1. If a team went unbeaten but didn't win, would they get anything? A gold plated wooden spoon?
2. If we went unbeaten and got over a 100 points, would we get something better than a golden trophy? Surely that achievement would be far better than Arsenal's. Please disregard your opinion on the league being stronger/weaker now etc. Such factors weren't taken into account for their golden trophy. Unbeaten was unbeaten.
Blind optimism helped.I honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
It got better after Istanbul.I honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
I don´t think they´ll lose but I am going for a 1:1I have a feeling they will lose tonight. Traore, get them.
Actually think it's the opposite.Blind optimism helped.
Not on the home front vis-a-vis Premier Leagues. It got better after Istanbul.
It’s a matter of what you’re accustomed to, I think. Following United, you’ve seen them win multiple league titles under arguably the best manager ever, which makes your current state difficult to cope with. In the 25 years I’ve supported Liverpool, I’ve never experienced a league title. We’ve had some good teams along the way that came close, and a couple of CL’s, but Liverpool were never near being the juggernaut you were under Ferguson. So I’m sort of used to us being mediocre, and so in those few title runs accepting of the fact that it just wasn’t our year after all.I honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
Tbf, while they didn't win the title for that long, they did win around a dozen trophies including old big ears twice which I guess does helpI honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
At least you were enjoyable to watch/follow then. You may not have won anything those seasons, but there was no doubting you were there or there abouts.Actually think it's the opposite.
13/14 was a lot more enjoyable than fx 08/09 because the pressure was much less, it was more of a "if it happens, it happens" and just enjoying the football from week to week.
We played some great stuff in 08/09, but the "could this finally be our year? It has to be our year" was agony throughout.
I don't think enjoyable football was enough to make it a happy time for them.At least you were enjoyable to watch/follow then. You may not have won anything those seasons, but there was no doubting you were there or there abouts.
As a Liverpool fan, do you think it was ever as low as it currently is for Utd? Maybe 10/11 under Roy?
Yes. It was. Been supporting 'pool for 45 years now, and it's been utterly miserable (punctuated sometimes with "wow!") the last 30 years.I honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
Compare our current squad to most of theirs from those periods, I think theirs tend to have more quality, sadly.I don't think enjoyable football was enough to make it a happy time for them.
Also during that time they had many periods which were much worst than it currently is for United.
I Don't think so unless you're talking about Brighton.Compare our current squad to most of theirs from those periods, I think theirs tend to have more quality, sadly.
They were also arguably more competitive in the league, cups and Europe (not necessarily all at once) than we currently are.
We'll see. LFC have won 8/9 in the league vs Wolves this century, including winning the previous 6 in a row.Wolves are going to end the unbeaten run on Thursday
You kinda get used to it eventually. It helped having short bursts of quality and title challenges during the 30 years. E.g. The Fowler/McManaman years, 2001 cup treble, Istanbul, 2009 and 2014, and finally Klopp.I honestly don't know how Liverpool fans coped with 30 years of this.
Must have been horrible for all that time.
Exactly! We've almost always had a few world class players about, who made it worth watching all our glorious failures. Especially the strikers: Fowler->Owen->Torres->Suarez and then the current bunch. You kinda get used to it eventually. It helped having short bursts of quality and title challenges during the 30 years. E.g. The Fowler/McManaman years, 2001 cup treble, Istanbul, 2009 and 2014, and finally Klopp.
Also, I would imagine those United fans who lived through the pre Fergie years will be coping better than those who'd only known Fergie and success.
Nothing lasts forever and there's no guarantee the good times will ever come round again, for anyone, so you've just got to accept that this is how things might be for the foreseeable future for United. Your wealth should make it easier but it doesn't guarantee anything.
Its more a hopeful post than what Im expecting, think it will be close either wayWe'll see. LFC have won 8/9 in the league vs Wolves this century, including winning the previous 6 in a row.
Hodgson was awful in every way. Dark humour was the only respite. At least you were enjoyable to watch/follow then. You may not have won anything those seasons, but there was no doubting you were there or there abouts.
As a Liverpool fan, do you think it was ever as low as it currently is for Utd? Maybe 10/11 under Roy?
