If gerrard wasn't managing then I wonder if the scousers would sign him for half a season just so he could have a medal

They'll smash the record. Every team they play is beat mentally before a whistle is even blown.
That's always been the case with teams who go on these type of runs. Was the same with Arsenal. Has been that way with City too. I remember when we used to already have the upper hand in games purely because of the aura.

Didn't we end the Arsenal run with Rooney diving for a pen? :D

Didnt Mick McCarthys wolves beat us and end our unbeaten premier league run back in the day?

Looks like they are going for the record alright, league won months ago and Klopp has chosen to pick his strongest starting 11 for each game when he really should be starting fringe players.

They’ll blow past the record. I foresee them going unbeaten this season and a good chunk of the next one.

They’re a machine. Well drilled, good composure and give everything to create chances. If I could harness 10% of what they’re doing on the field and give it to United, I’d give you my left arm (not my wanking arm).

I despise them, but you can’t deny that they are impressive. They’re reminiscent of the late 90’s United. Grinding it out.

Settle in lads, just let the smugness wash over you. Someday we’ll get competent owners and players that show some passion and urgency. Might be a bit of a wait.

They manage games and conserve their energy very well these days, but it does seem strange they're resting so few players. They should be aiming for the treble and it seems a little implausible their core players won't start to run out of steam by April if they don't give them proper rest time.

The thing about unbeaten runs is once a team loses it can be hard to get back into the swing of winning. Happened to Arsenal and even Real Madrid in 2017. Stuttered their way towards the end of the season.

This is probably the end of a cycle, a two-year one, rather than the beginning (as we've seen with Man City) but they could probably still lose a couple of matches next season and win the title in the 80-point mark.

Hard to imagine them ever not winning a game ever again, let alone losing one.

Probably someone stupid like Norwich at Carrow road will.

Norwich to beat Liverpool and City.

And then get relegated. Sums up English football.

Kind of fecked up that they just need a draw in their next game to have twice as many points as we do, after 24 games... Embarrassing.

Can we just all cancel the season and start preparing for the Euros?

With Kane and Rashford injured, and the likes of Maguire and Stones who need to learn the art of defending again.

Carrying on is simply delaying the inevitable now!

We needed a strong team to beat wolves.

Our upcoming run of league games until we play man City at the start of April are

West Ham
Southampton
Norwich
West Ham
Watford
Bournemouth
Everton
Crystal Palace

That's the time for rotating players I reckon.

Yeah, Liverpool and Manchester City dominate English football while we're terrible. Only needs Leeds to complete some kind of trifecta from hell.

Couldn't that effing sheikh have bought.. any other club, really? Something like Newcastle or Norwich or Leicester. But nooooo it had to be Manchester fecking City.

We're as pissed off as you are about it but I'd have preferred him to buy a foreign club as we'd probably have a couple of Premier League winners medals already if he hadn't decided on the plastic blue club

Probably not nearly as pissed off as we are. It's as if United and Everton fought for the title while you had Roy Hodgson. Try to imagine that.

They played yesterday on 4 days rest, and dont have another league game until next Wednesday. I expect Klopp to rest the starters in the FA Cup. I really don't mind Klopp playing the starters now since they're getting adequate rest. I want to guarantee as many points as possible now, so there's more flexibility to rotate when the schedule gets crowded around champions league games.

Not good enough, I'm hoping for Utd to be mathematically unable to catch us as soon as possible (February). :p:angel:

9 to go. Actually think they’ll do it now. Was hoping this thread would serve as a jinx but those hopes have been extinguished.
Not losing at the etihad is a big ask.

Normally I’d agree but City are a level below this season. Perhaps if the unbeaten record starts to play on your teams mind and alters their mentality somewhat they could lose it, but I doubt it. You’re a well oiled machine.

Any mention of Liverpool, how good they are or how many records they are going to break should be banned from this site. They are the dirt of the universe and should be ignored until they go away!!!

I think Klopp will retain the same team for PL games (barring any injury) until we secure it and then we might see some rotation for PL games.

3 wins needed and Spurs,United wont be able to catch us. 2 wins would take Arsenal out and 5 wins would take Chelsea out of title race :)

Other than trying to break records why did you need to beat Wolves? A simliar strong team was selected at home to Sheffield United recently let's not forget.

Are you for real?

It's their job to win games.

Also a strong team. Our last 6 league games have all been against top 8 teams.

Five of our next six league games are against the bottom four.

Saw on another site that we've got as many wins in January as Utd did in the whole of the 98/99 season. It's true, I just googled it.

Because the league's not won until it's won. Last season's near miss is felt so acutely that you don't take chances with the City team even with a double-figure lead.

I think comparatively most of the times we won the league it was a much lower points total than chelsea, City and soon to be you. Relatively often under Fergie we would start the season off relatively slowly and end incredibly strong. It’s seeming more and more like you just can’t do that anymore - the level of consistency you need throughout an entire season is higher.
