Liverpool are very good but City are currently on 2.125 points per game which would see them finish with 81 points (rounded up), aka Mourinho's fabled second place finish. It's a huge drop off by their standards, and generally not a title-winning pace.Yeah, Liverpool definitely breaking that record. And annoyingly it's not even that City are that shit, they'll probably get about 90 points. It's just that Liverpool are too fecking good.
Laporte is back, and if I was a betting man I'd bet big they'll be closer to 90 than 81.

Probably will need Klopp and Guardiola to leave their respective positions though as both are relentless in league seasons. When Man. United won leagues early under SAF they'd tend to drop intensity in last few games and drop a few points like in 12/13 so think that's a little difference.
Also in 12/13, we were 15 points clear by the 30th game mark. And if it wasnt for a shite end to the season (12 points from 8 games), we looked set to break the 100 point mark.

Hate to admit how good a job Liverpool have done over the last few years. They appointed the right manager, and the right infrastructure to support him.

Imagine they go the entire PL season only dropping pts against us. That means to break the record a team would have to win every PL game. Bonkers to think it would happen.
And in 00/01 we won the league with five games to spare and then picked up a grand total of four points in those last five games.
We still have Arsenal and City away.
IF, and that's a big if we beat them, I can see us going unbeaten.
You can blame Man City and Pep Guardiola for that. Posting 97 and not winning last season really turned something in Liverpool.
Chances are it'll revert back to the norm of ~90-ish again next season anyway.

City have not done that well in the league, but they're still a huge threat. They will likely win a domestic cup this year and might even win the champions league.
Leicester had one good season, and won the league on a points total that wouldn't be enough in most recent years. It's a bit ridiculous to compare this Liverpool squad to theirs.
As far as losing motivation, I think Klopp has an expiration date just like everyone else. However, his departure at Dortmund was sped up by them losing multiple star players, especially to their toughest league rivals. That's not happening with Liverpool, and if they do sell a star, they'll be in good shape to buy someone like Sancho as a replacement.
I expect Liverpool to have a bit of a drop off next year, but if they have decent health they should be able to aim for 90 points or so. I also expect Klopp to stick around until his front 3 get past their primes, which should be 3-4 more years.
The biggest difference between dortmund and liverpool is that dortmund wasn't in a position to replace half the team and remain competitive. Though whether Klopp wants to oversee a rebuild or not remains to be seen.
Either way this liverpool side likely have another one or two seasons in them.
Only thing that might put a wrench in the plan is Van Dijk agitating for a move, as he's essentially their Sun and replacing him would be very difficult

They were never going to not win against Southampton. They wont lose a game this season, too good and the decisions/refs go in their direction
When it comes to technique they might be somewhat right but when it comes to tenacity, work rate and pure desire to win games Martial isn't even close.
Their next 5 games are pretty easy then they meet City on Etihad, if they don't lose this they'll break the record.

I don’t think they’ll drop a point between now and officially winning the league. It’s then just a case of if Klopp can keep them focussed on getting that invincible tag and I fear he can.

You need to buy glasses - no one says he's good as Firmino, they say he should be used like him, used deeper with Rashford out wider and another wider forward out on the right not Daniel James.
Fans who complain about Martial not being able to lead the line because he isn't Zlatan Ibrahimovic should get glasses because they are too different type of players.
Get a proper striker as a tactic but martial is good enough if used in the right tactic - not using James outwide crossing balls in to nobody in to the box etc - if that's to be used then get a better ighalo type striker for long term use so we can adapt our front line for tactical use.
