Most of them get knocked out too early for it to be of consequence.
what about when the english teams dominated europe for a spell ? playing at a faster tempo which they forign teams could not cope with, yet most teams now play at a slower tempo and are more fatigued ?

Because Europa is always Thursday-Sunday.

CL can still give you Tuesday-Sunday. Or even Tue-Sat.
what about the rest from sat/sun to the thursday ? swings in roundabouts, most time english teams dont do well in it is because they dont take it serious enough,

They were better than the teams we have now.

not sure what them being better has to do with people making excuses for being tired, sure the sucsessful sides back then would have played just as much football as we have this season and actually were entertaining to watch, take away the chelsea games and we have been playing LVG football for about 4 months.

Personally I think if you're better and have much better strength in depth you can handle the large amount of games better. Injuries of late have been worse than I can remember under Fergie since perhaps 98.

Agree we have been playing bad football of late, 4 months might be over the top but we have played LVG football since Zlatan got injured.

:smirk:

That break isn't going to help you play through the sore backs, tight muscles, joint stiffness and whatever else in the Sunday game that you picked up in the Thursday EL game, because you haven't sufficiently recovered. That's when you pick up injuries, play within yourself, or start sitting back in the last half hour of games (something we've seen plenty of this season).

You may well be 100% for the following Thursday game providing you haven't aggravated any niggles from the quick turnaround between Thur-Sun.
