Luke Chadwick could have done with a bit of his spot fixing magic back in the day.

it was always the risk when allowing foreigners into the country. whilst we continue to allow small boat crossings, the likes of paqueta and tonali will remain the norm.

Really stupid and my guess is the amounts involved will also be totally trivial compared to what he makes playing.

Here goes another one. They’re clamping down heavy on this now. How do they even find out?

The bookies investigate who they're paying out to and hand the information over the the police if they suspect it's insider betting. They have systems that flag suspicious bets, it's all automated for the most part.

Imagine an account that only bets on Paqueta getting a yellow card and puts down big money each time only to win every time? Red flags everywhere.

If guilty he'll be lucky to just get a ban. Spot-fixing in cricket led to prison for the 3 Pakistan players.

And that account just happens to belong to someone from his hometown and hardly anybody else in Brazil is even betting on Premier League yellow cards.

What an absolute tit. Fantastic player going to the very top, but he could have washed either his entire career, or a good chunk of his peak career, down the toilet. For what? Nothing. What a complete melon.

Utterly ridiculous to get caught doing this, no doubt he'll have some excuses. Should get a hefty ban, I'd ban him for life.

Hopefully he’s just really thick and it isn’t a case that someone nasty has their claws in him

Think they said a betting company in Brazil informed the P.L.
Makes sense. Don’t get how players think they can get away with it. Also unless it’s an addiction if your earning thousands a week you wouldn’t need to bet if it’s to try and win money.

Think he was informing family and friends there and they were betting on him getting booked. I suppose if it happens a bit too often and from the videos the reason for the bookings looks a bit too deliberate there's your pattern.

Another reason why betting companies need to be eradicated
Thing with betting companies is they bombard people who have gambling problems with more temptations to bet. The more people lose bets the better for these companies and bugger the consequencies elsewhere.

True.

In addition, I just don't see their benefit to the game, or the average gambler. They're just an additional tax that's regressive towards the poor and desperate.

They aren't reaching out to the FA to preserve the integrity of the game. They're reaching out to the FA to preserve their profits.
