Now that we signed him competition, I think we might see Prime Shaw for a while.
He will never play wingback. His body wont allow it. No wonder we are adapting Dalot or Garna, and buying left footed CBs.Will never be more than the bonus. If he gets in, cool, nice player. If he doesnt, well, already expected.

Hard to get exited by news of either him or Mount being fit again , as we know it is only a matter of a few games max and he is gone for months again.

That's normal Luke Shaw, this is Luke Shaw after we've signed a left-back! It's a totally different ball-game.

Agreed, would be really surprised to see him anywhere other than LCB in the back three now.

TAA takes loads of set pieces and plays in a very good attacking unit.

Shaw’s ability to progress the ball, and overall top end technique, is there for all to see. He’s on a different planet to AWB in possession.
He's also on a different planet to TAA when it comes to defending

I doubt he plays LWB. I think he'll be at LCB rotating with Martinez.

Luke had his senior debut for Southampton in 2012, there is a lot of mileage there. Would be very surprised if he has years left in him. But we can hope

I understand he is just 29 and he made his debut for Southampton when he was very young, about 16.
So he could easily manage to perform for United for a good few years yet. Assuming of course if we want to keep him and his fitness record.

I admire your optimism!

Better hope he takes to that LCB role now that Martinez is injured.

…and stays fit obviously.

Would be nice if he can stay fit for a few months now and replace Licha who is probably now going to be out until 2026.

I read something about a guy in another sport where a coach/pundit (can't recall which) said that if you had simulated his career 10 times the one he ended up with would have been the worst case scenario.

Think the same is true for Shaw, huge talent, should have been an elite level full back for 15 years and we have only seen that for what, 2 or 3 years?

With Licha out for the rest of the season, we need Shaw to get off the couch and show up to the office.

I would rather continue with either Yoro or Maz in the role, give Shaw a few minutes here and there until the end of the season and then maybe we can sell him whilst still fit..... however if I was a betting man I would lay a pound to a penny that even if we do not play him for 1 minute he will pick up another long injury in training within a month of being declared fit

Does he exist? Feels like last time he played was in 2021

On paper, left sided centre back should suit him well.
But first thing worst, let's see if we can actually get him playing 90 again, just once .

Is it confirmed ?

Not confirmed, but the media are reporting that it's a very serious injury. I'm no doctor but we probably have to wait for another 24-36 hours before a scan take place. It's February 3 and the FA Cup final is May 25...no chance whatsoever can Licha return by then.

You're absolutely right

Not available until end of Feb or March thi guy i stealing a living here and how on earth hes contracted to 2027 is a joke any other club would have sold him long ago

That’s an unduly harsh comment. Licha busts his gut for us and in no way steals a living. His injuries are serious, not dubious.

You’re on the wrong thread I’d say

Maybe not. Shaw has stolen a living for years and years, and I grant him full leash after what Moreno did to him. I was responding to another poster who had thoughts on Martinez. But we can leave it at that.

Eh? The poster you quoted was talking about Luke Shaw, in the Luke Shaw thread. Are you drunk?

Hopefully won't get injured by sitting down on the bench before kick off...

It is good news, a fit and on it Shaw might be our best player, for as rarely as that has been seen.
