Following the crowd trouble the other week, if the clubs commit any further similar infractions within the next 2 years, Lyon and Besiktas will be excluded from the next UEFA competition to which they qualify to.

Why would they be more motivated to win the EL when they can't play in next years CL even if they win it? :p If anything I can see them be more deflated.

How about Besiktas?

Tolisso better hand in a transfer request to go to us for a discounted price asap.

I´m confused. Didn´t the Besiktas fans throw firecrackers and shit into the Lyon block and as a result they opened the gates to release the fans onto the pitch?

Btw it´s a 100k fine and two years on probation for both clubs, if I got the press release right.

I can see this as a case of 'hardship' (sorry don't know which word I'd use) that brings the squad even more together etc.

It's a suspended ban, meaning that they will only be banned if there is a repeat of the crowd trouble.

It's suspended though. The losing set of fans could kick off I suppose.

Should be disqualified from this year.

Edit: or at least play behind closed doors in any future home matches.

This is a suspended ban and will probably be reduced in appeal.

But it's suspended for 2 years, so unless something else goes wrong it's "as you were" really.

Wait doesn't that mean banned for 1 year if they are naughty again inside 2 years?

Feck, thought that meant that the suspension applies only during the next two years, as in if the next time they qualify for Europe is in 2019-20, the ban is not active anymore.

Must be odds on for some trouble in the return leg in Turkey.

Ban them both, give us a bye in the Semis.

Don't get the point of this...Ban them now and it will deter anyone doing it in future...Have to make an example of this kind of thing!

Besiktas fans caused the troubles and Lyon got punished as well? :wenger:

Lyon have their share of stupid fans who fancy joining a good fight and the club is also punished for handling the situation poorly.
I know Lyon fans are a bit cnutish, but i didn't see them causing many problems last thursday.

Some Lyon fans were involved in prematch brawls and were prepared for kicking opposing fans in the stadium as you can see behind, plus some use of fireworks.
