My only issue is having City and Chelsea so close together again this season.
If Chelsea are still in Europe(highly likely) then we play them in the middle of the CL Q/Fs.

Also city might have a Q/F first leg right after playing us.

Nice gentle start for the LVG era. Can't wait...just need to get this WC bollocks out of the way first.

Slightly on/off topic but has a Premier League manager ever been manager of a national side and a domestic side at the same time before?

Also has there been other instances where international managers have joined a new club the same year as a major international tournament? Just trying to measure up how managers in this situation tend to do.

Keegan did it for a bit but pretty sure Fulham were in Division 2 at the time. That would be unheard of these days!

21-22/10/14 Group stage, matchday three
25/10/2014 15:00 Manchester United v Chelsea

01/11/2014 15:00 Manchester City v Manchester United
04-05/11/14 Group stage, matchday four

22/11/2014 15:00 Arsenal v Manchester United
25-26/11/14 Group stage, matchday five

09-10/12/14 Group stage, matchday

Looks like our four big matches will come around the same time as either before or after one of them plays in a Champions League game, good news for us.

Comfortable start to ease Van Gaal and the new signings in anyway, maybe the moaning from Moyes last season actually worked.

I can see March and April being a disaster though, potentially only beating Newcastle and Villa, although we might have a chance if the big clubs are still involved in Europe.

Josef Venglos as Villa. That turned out well. :nervous:

If Moyes was still in charge we'd have gotten another rotten start. The man was cursed.

That's all well and good but those games prob won't actually be 3pm Sat kick offs, they could be Sunday or even Monday.

Can't wait for the season to start!! Good fixture list initially, gives the squad time to adjust to LVG tactics before the big games roll in.. Now just the matter of the World cup finishing..

In the March/April tough fixture run our oppos could be impacted by adjacent Champions League games:

Liverpool away - Mar 21 (Round of 16 2nd leg is Mar 17/18)
City home - Apr 11
and
Chelsea away - Apr 18 (Quarter finals Apr 14/15 & 21/22)
Arsenal home - May 16 (Semis May 5/6 & 12/13)

Who am I kidding, the Dippers will never get out of their group and Le Arse in the semis

United could if they play their cards right pick up 8 straight wins before we get to Chelsea

LVG will have the first 2 months of the season to get the team playing the way he wants before the real tests begin to appear!

Liverpool on December 13th, how likely is this fixture to change? From experience? I always get confused at this time of year. Want to book flights from Ireland asap, but the 13th is a Saturday, so I'd imagine it's likely to change to the Sunday?

First thoughts - very happy. Tough run in, but to be honest as we saw with Liverpool and Arsenal last season a decent start can be much more important. Come the run in we'll have played maybe 10 less games than our likely title opponents, so I'd rather have those games then.

Arsenal's complaint about the seemingly deliberate big game pile up in February and March seems to finally have been heard.

So what they've done instead is give us a nightmare first six, but I can deal with that. At least the majority of our players will be fit for them.

The fixtures I'm most worried about are city, Chelsea and Liverpool away. Chelsea away near the end is not a good thing. But generally I'm happy with the computer's output this year.

...or they could be knackered after the world cup.

Chuffed with that. Gives plenty of time for Van Gaal to adjust to the league before we face the big guns. Our quality should drive us to 1-0 wins during that time if we're still a bit rusty.

Man United clearly rewarded for their ludicrous fixtures last year. Van Gaal should start 6/6. Very nice of the PL to give United some momentum to make up for trying to undermine Moyes.

Nice fixture list bar the end run in, could be a possible 9 points dropped in 3 games which is huge! I'm not expecting 1st place and with the improvement our squad needs it might just in fact come down to that 2nd last game vs Arsenal to take top 4.

In fairness to Moyes he made the fixture list a lot easier for LVG by not leaving him with the problem of the CL.

Those 3 games in a row against newly promoted sides are more tricky than they look. Usually promoted sides go in the new season on a high.

Still, better than last season's fixtures. Those were terrible.

Great to have an easier start. We need to get off to a confident start to build team spirit and belief. It will also put our immediate rivals for top 4 under pressure. Our run in is treacherous though good lawd

Last time we played Hull away on the last day of the season we'd already won the title. Last time we played Newcastle at home on boxing day we went on to win the title. I don't think we've ever played Swansea at home on the first day of the season, so we'll ignore them (we have played them away, and we're definitely ignoring that).

It's practically written in the stars, lads

I think it's potentially a fantastic start to the season.

After last year I think there will still be some trepidation and maybe even mental scars when we face any of our big rivals but this fixture list gives us a chance to build up momentum and confidence before any of the really big matches.

It's a good draw for us for sure, with plenty of positives to look at.

With a decent first 8 games, it gives Van Gaal a bit of time to experiment and tinker.
It would also mean that if all our transfers are not done right away and do happen through the beginning of the season, it shouldn't be the worst scenario ever, and means that players arriving late can be bedding in well
