West Brom are on a decent run but I think we'll see this one through, it will be interesting to see what the selection is though.

I'd play Hernandez in this game. he needs game time to rediscover his potency in front of goal so we have him firing, in form and fully ready for the run in.

Also, Anderson for Cleverley, bring on Cleverley after an hour after we are hopefully 2 goals in the lead.

Its great that we now have plenty of options in central midfield between Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley, Giggs & Scholes. Sure not good enough for Europe but more than good enough for us to win the PL.

SAF said if he could get a full squad fot for the run in, and so have options to pick bespoke teams for whatever each opposition specifically required for us to break them down, then he was confident. Well after a season of mayhem on the injury front, amazingly, its looking like we have most of our 25 man squad fit and available for duty.

Rotation will mean that each will be fresh for play. Just need to keep an eye on the freshness levels of Evans, Carrick & Rooney who have become the spine of the team this year - they cant play ever game and thats when we have to be especially alert.

Despite the last minute mistake - it should be Rafael at RB, NOT Jones. Of course that's not going to happen - Fergie will punish him for his mental lapse.

Scholes, Carrick and Nani will return to the starting lineup.

Definite starters:

De Gea, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Nani + Rooney.

From that I expect the team will be:

De Gea
Jones Ferdinand Evans Evra
Nani Carrick Scholes Young
Rooney Welbeck

Is something wrong with Rafael ? If he's fit, why would you want Jones ahead of him as a RB ?
Clue is bolded...

Jones Ferdinand Evans Evra

Hopefully we'll win this and the Caf will once again be a safe haven to rest my head.

Odemwingie won the player of the month for February, but the real danger-man for me is Fortune, who's been excellent for the last few games. Will also need to keep a close eye on Morrison.

For what it's worth our record after European games this season and more importantly after European defeat

14 Sept: Benfica 1-1 Man Utd
18 Sept: Man Utd 3-1 Chelsea

27 Sept: Man Utd 3-3 Basel
01 Oct: Man Utd 2-0 Norwich

18 Oct: Galati 0-2 Man Utd
23 Oct: Man Utd 1-6 Man City

02 Nov: Man Utd 2-0 Galati
05 Nov: Man Utd 1-0 Sunderland

22 Nov: Man Utd 2-2 Benfica
26 Nov: Man Utd 1-1 Newcastle

07 Dec: Basel 2-1 Man Utd
10 Dec: Man Utd 4-1 Wolves

23 Feb: Man Utd 1-2 Ajax
26 Feb: Norwich 0-2 Man Utd

So 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat and most noticeable after the 2 defeats in Europe we've won the next game

We have to win. We better not mess around with the team and rest players for the 2nd leg.

WBA have the 3rd best away form in the league so this won't be easy at all.

Odemwingie playing from the right makes me a bit nervous against Evra. He was miles quicker than Cole last week who had to defend well to keep him quiet-ish. Fortune bullied Cahill and Luiz but Rio should be able to deal with him better.

Just read that Reid is out for WBA, so they'll probably be playing Billy Jones at RB. He's not a bad player at all, but might be an idea to attack down the left at the start, see what sort of form he's in.

Quick question from a US viewer. Our daylight savings begins Sunday, and if I remember correctly, the U.K. doesn't begin theirs at the same time. Is this true or am I just talking nonsense?

You are correct Ace, our clocks don't change for another 2 weeks.

I'd like to play Fabio at left back for this one, think he'd show more determination in stopping crosses and runs than Evra, who played Thursday. Can't remember when he last played though??

When is Valencia back? I was thinking by now but I'm guessing it's Bilbao away then?

de Gea
Jones Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Rooney Young
Welbeck
--
Amos; Rafael; Anderson, Cleverley, Giggs, Valencia; Hernández

I'd like to see this the most, for a few reasons. It's a strong team, should be enough to beat West Brom even if we're not at our best. Jones can get another game in defence as I personally wouldn't start him in Spain (I can see Rafael being left out too, though). Gives Smalling a chance to heal up, I think he might start at Right Back against Bilbao. Hopefully Anderson, Cleverley, and Valencia can get on the pitch if they're available and then maybe they could start in Spain, or at least feature.

I'd like to see this against Bilbao:

de Gea
Smalling Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Anderson
Valencia Giggs Nani
Rooney
--
Amos; Jones, Rafael; Cleverley, Park, Young; Hernández

any win will do but it'll be nice to see some good form Rooney to compliment his goals, if he can click into gear we can really power through this run of fixtures. Nani too for that matter
