Fußball-Club Bayern München e. V., also known as FC Bayern, Bayern Munich, or simply Bayern, is a German professional sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. It is best known for its professional men's association football team, which plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. FC Bayern Munich was founded by members of a Munich gymnastics club (MTV 1879). When a congregation of members of MTV 1879 decided on 27 February 1900 that the footballers of the club would not be allowed to join the German Football Association (DFB), 11 members of the football division left the congregation and on the same evening founded Fußball-Club Bayern München. By 1920, it had over 700 members, making it the largest football club in Munich. Although Bayern won its first national championship in 1932, the club was not selected for the Bundesliga at its inception in 1963.

Fielding a team with young talents like Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Müller and Sepp Maier – who would later be collectively referred to as the axis, they achieved promotion to the Bundesliga in 1965. In their first Bundesliga season, Bayern finished third and also won the DFB-Pokal. This qualified them for the following year's European Cup Winners' Cup, which they won in a dramatic final against Scottish club Rangers. Udo Lattek took charge in 1970. After winning the DFB-Pokal in his first season, Lattek led Bayern to their third German championship. The deciding match in the 1971–72 season against Schalke 04 was the first match in the new Olympiastadion, and was also the first live televised match in Bundesliga history. Bayern beat Schalke 5–1 and thus claimed the title, also setting several records, including points gained and goals scored. Bayern also won the next two championships, but the zenith was their triumph in the 1974 European Cup Final against Atlético Madrid, which Bayern won 4–0 after a replay. This title – after winning the Cup Winners' trophy 1967 and two semi-finals (1968 and 1972) in that competition – marked the club's breakthrough as a force on the international stage. During the following years, the team was unsuccessful domestically but defended their European title by defeating Leeds United in the 1975 European Cup Final. A year later in Glasgow, Saint-Étienne were defeated as Bayern became the third club to win the trophy in three consecutive years.

Overall, Bayern have won six European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles (a German record), winning their sixth title in the 2020 final as part of the Treble, after which it became the second European club to achieve the feat twice. Bayern has also won one UEFA Cup, one European Cup Winners' Cup, two UEFA Super Cups, two FIFA Club World Cups and two Intercontinental Cups, making it one of the most successful European clubs internationally, and the only German club to have won both international titles. Bayern players have accumulated five Ballon d'Or awards, two The Best FIFA Men's Player awards, four European Golden Shoe and three UEFA Men's Player of the Year awards, including UEFA Club Footballer of the Year. The club has traditional local rivalries with 1860 Munich and 1. FC Nürnberg. Since the 1970s, Bayern's main domestic rivals have been the clubs who put up the strongest fight against its national dominance. Amongst their chief European rivals are Real Madrid, A.C. Milan, and Manchester United due to many classic wins, draws and losses. Bayern play their home games at the Allianz Arena.

    Who really cares!

Getting completely out of Europe might turn out to be positive for our season. But given our luck we'll somehow find ourselves in Europa.

Hopefully lose and probably will. I do not want to go into Europa League and have to watch these losers play WiFi passwords on Thursday nights.

Even If United was to somehow win it won't matter as Copenhagen v Gala won't finish in a draw.

    Just a few stats.

PSG September 2017 were the last club to beat Bayern Munich in a group stage

Last time Bayern Munich lost a round 6 group game was 3-2 against Man City in 2013.

Round 6 results since then and more often than not they had already qualified for the knock out stages going into that game P9 W8 D1 the one draw was 3-3 against Ten Hag's Ajax in 2018. They kept clean sheet in 6 of those games.

Bayern won't give a feck, we will win and just hope that the other game is a draw.
Can see us winning 2-0 and the other game being a draw until the last second winner for one of them.

Ten Haag and Tuchel could be sacked before this game

I don't want to watch this, but I probably should, as it'll be the last Champions League match for United for a long, long time.

If we win this, we’d be stuck with the Pep Guardiola is my idol for a few more games

Technically we should try and could win this, but the most likely consequence of that is another year in Europa.

A loss though with Pool coming up afew days later and this place will probably combust.

I don't give a shit about what anyone will say. I don't wanna watch the EL, a trophy we won't win anyway. Better have less games
Already out of the League Cup and with our big game form we will probably crash out of the FAC the moment we meet a top half PL team. Europa is crap but it’s still game for our rather big squad. With our league form this year scrapping 5th to hope for the extra spot might be a big ask, even without distractions.

They'll play in 2nd gear and probably rest players as well. Let's at least try to do something.

A half arsed second string Bayern will still win comfortably. We might have more possession, but won`t be able to create any proper chances. 0-2 within the first 15m and they will just cruise from that point

I also think this every other year. Then one of the good teams has a shite year and let's us back into the CL and we think we're great again until we go and lose to fecking Copenhagen.

We can't beat Bournemouth at home, no chance we are getting anything out of this.

We were out after the first game and never looked like beating anyone. ETH with his 'we all fight' shite must be watching a different game than the rest of us. Still, stranger things have happened. If we finish rock bottom, is the it or do we go into an even more embarrassing cup? Much rather we were out of Europe altogether and concentrate on the top four.

Passed caring for this game. We win we still go out unless the other result favours us. We are no where near good enough to compete at this level.
Im dreading us playing on Thursday nights but that is the likely out come.

With them already guaranteed top spot I'm not putting much stock in our performance here.

We have a big chance to win if they don't take it seriously. Disgusting having to say that regards Manchester United.

    I said the same thing

Can’t see United getting back in to it for a few years now with the Glazers staying put. Might have to find a way to enjoy this one
