Rashford doesn't even do enough work off the ball to justify how poor he has been on the ball.
Genuine head-scratch moment what he does. He doesn't provide threat, he doesn't defend, he doesn't have pace, so you just have to wonder why he's on.

Good half. Could be up by a bit more, considering the multiple chances plus some promising balls that went into the wrong options. Rashford is not a good answer right now. Hope Martial is available for 30+ minutes.

There was a situation with McT on the ball, the passing lane he was going for was closed off. He could have squared it to Eriksen to advance the play but stubbornly tried the pass anyway and it resulted in losing the ball  Like that is not even technical skill, all he needs to do is look up. Guy is playing football with his head down all the time, no situational awareness at all.

Fearful Klopp will get into this team at half time and we will see a different Liverpool in the second half.

The other huge worry for me is the yellow cards for Dalot and Varane. I don't want to see Maguire near this pitch today, it's clear from 45 minutes we move the ball quicker without him.

Really good performance. Martinez and Varane both brilliant! Defence as a whole has been great. This back 4 should be starting every game. Bruno much better. Midfield needs to get a bit more control but we are playing counter attacking football, shows good adaptability from ETH. Elanga excellent also. Sancho's goal was fantastic though I would like to see him more involved. Rashford making good runs and using his pace well. Positive stuff. Hope levels don't fall in 2nd half.

So far, DDG in a war with a ball, Bruno gave his best to gift them a goal, he seems totally lost, specially in defensive shape, all over place in that position, rest are from very very good to good/decent.

Lets hope they dont come out fully chicken shit mode, because dont think we will survive 45 min like that without conceding.

Eriksen disappeared after that free kick that nearly went top corner, invisible.
    Malacia still very raw.
Best 15-20 minutes in a long while, could've been 3, were cutting through them like butter, after started dropping deep and inviting pressure, hope we're not trying to defend a 1 goal lead here.

Malacia, Martinez, and Varane have been immense. Dalot has also been decent. With Casemiro, FdJ (lol), Antony and/or Gakpo, and another RB we'll might have some hope going forward.

Martinez/Varane just works, we can chop and change it now and then when it’s needed tactically but get Casemiro in front of them and it’s solid.

I love the passion being shown from the back line. Every tackle, block or turnover being celebrated amongst each other. After our horrific defensive start to the season, they are playing like the clean sheet is the most important thing on the planet. Malacia and Martinez have been quality and Varane is showing up as the player we all expected we had signed. Dalot also putting in a great shift on the right.

Martinez has been absolutely fantastic so far - defends like a warrior and some of his passing has been top quality. Strong answer to his critics.

Great effort so far, huge improvement.?sham Elanga missed a sitter.
Liverpool controlled the last 20 minutes. We need to get hold of the ball as well as chase down.
expect subs on 60 mins as some will br shattered having to run.

Very, very good stuff for the first 25-30 minutes. Lost some momentum but been doing well keeping them away from clear cut chances aside from when Bruno almost did an own goal.

Varane and Martinez have been immense, long may it continue

Bruno has been our only poor player in first half. I do not know what he was trying to do when he was about to score an own goal. It was really a strange situation

With the press from Liv high in our half, we need to go long but unfortunately none of our forward line run the channels so there is no outlet.

We have their number, need a 2nd goal. Let of a bit in the last 15 minutes and Liverpool got better. Martinez, Varane, Eriksen, Elanga, Malacia, Bruno all grea! Sancho immense. Rashford is at it at least, he just needs to get a grip of things.

Finally we're playing with passion! What a sight to behold.

Great start. Exactly what we needed to make a statement. Massive shame we weren't 2-0 up with that Elanga chance.

Half time came at a good time for us. Liverpool had built up a head of steam. We need to come out well in the second half again. We were lucky to survive the own goal scare. Martinez the best player so far.

We need those changes to refresh the midfield and forward line, ‘cos we started to slacken off the intensity after 25 mins or so.
That’s allowed the scouse to get into the game and starting to dominate.

The one thing we need to improve on is that when we're knackered and need a rest, we need to be doing that by getting our foot on the ball and keeping possession, in the way that City and Liverpool do. That will come hopefully with coaching and new players.

Oh Martinez and Malacia, absolutely loving them. Martinez is going to be such a favourite.

Phew. Happy to get to half time without conceding.
Lost control too often later on and you cannot allow them so much of the ball because they will punish you.
Need a lot more control in midfield.

McTominay. I think he is the worst defensive midfielder in the whole Premier League starting XI.
