Sanchez and Lingard should keep their places. They have been part of the improved attacking displays over the past 2 league games and Sanchez always creates chances. Strongly disagree with the calls for Martial to waltz back into the starting XI on the back of a rubbish 45 min followed by a deflected goal against weak opposition.
Some would it call it a rash decision.

Ander available for this? He could be key in stifling Neves or Moutinho.

They are a decent team and will create some chances. But will concede 3 goals. Or more.

they have the joint 4th best defensive record in the league conceding only 5, it won't be easy to open them up I am sure while them being known as an attacking team mostly. I believe we should have quality and enough confidence to score at least 2 past them and win the game for us

Much depends on the first goal. If it doesn't come early enough, then there might be some problems. I've watched them only in their home games and wasn't very impressed with their defence.

Dalot, Rashford, Martial and Matic to be replaced by Valencia, Lingard, Sanchez and Fred.
Fred started on Wednesday. Fellaini or Periera will replace Matic. Or maybe both will play and Fred goes to the bench we have to wait and see.

I can just see this being a slog. Coming off a bit of a high midweek, home against a newly promoted (albeit, a good one) team, logic would say a comfortable win. But I just see it being cagey, Wolves having a good few golden chances to score, we create little and nick it with a headed goal later in the game.

I don't think Wolves will score. Their finishing is awful and they have a non-scoring striker. Although he's scored twice.

Well that makes sense?! A non-scoring striker that scores. Jimenez has around a 1 in 4 record for club and country, but has played a lot of games off the bench or out wide. Similar record and situation to Rashford really, apart from this season where as you point out, he's scored 2 PL goals

We play champions league on wednesday and premier league can't move this game to Sunday? That's sad.

Getting the excuses in early? :D

    United vs FC Mendes.

Don't you mean Raiola United vs Mendes Wanderers?

Seriously though. I think this will be a good game. Both teams looking to attack should make for a good spectacle.

I think the first goal is key. We have won 37 and drawn 4 of the last 41 games we have scored first in.

If we do score first, I think it'll be 1-1.

If you score first, you will go on to win 2-0.

    ................. De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    ......... Lingard Fred Pogba
    ....... Martial Lukaku Sanchez

I'm following the BBC live coverage of press conferences ( Yes I've no life) and this is a quote form that page:
"There'll also be updates from Wolves boss Jorge Mendes as his side travel to Old Trafford."

    Lie. It's Nuno Espirito Santo.

Think Periera should start in place of Matic but it will be Fred. Fred needs time and at this moment, Pereira looks more ready.

I'd really love to return to a Pereira, Fred and Pogba midfield. With Neves and Moutinho on their side, we do not need much height, so Fellaini isn't needed. We need more pressing which Fred and Andreas can provide. Apart from my wish, I'm 100% Fellaini starts :D

Then it´s a weapon, and Wolverhampton should be the ones making adjustments.

When I was watching The Debate on Youtube, the show opened with jurgen klopp fading away to the word 'passionate' and Jose fading away to the word 'controversial'. Now neither of it is wrong, but it just ticked me off.

This is what I think too, we will need a good technical midfield against wolves.

Not great TV options this week. Will have to be Portugal TV with MUTV commentary

It’s not as if we are going to have Neves or Moutinho marking Fellaini at set-pieces, so unless you’re planning an aerial battle in the centre of midfield, I don’t see how Fellaini’s height is a weapon? We have plenty of big lads ourself, Boly being possibly the biggest of them all!

And we don’t tend to make adjustments for any side. We just play our football :smirk:

    Hoping for:
    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Pereira Fellaini Pogba
    Lingard Lukaku Martial
Yeah I know Martial was trash before the last game and opposition wasnt great, but hes a confidence and streaky player and would build on that last game for sure IMO. Sanchez on the left would inevitably disappoint, so unless we play him up top as a striker or just off a striker, I wouldnt start him. Lingard on the right is always mediocre but its him or Mata... both pretty meh.

I think he's going to rest Martial and let him and Rashford play upfront vs Derby to rest Lukaku.

I like that team not sure about Lingard though.

I imagine Jose will start Pereira for the derby match. Fred, Fellaini, Pogba midfield with Sanchez, Lukaku, and Lingard against Wolves.

It's a weapon? It could be, but I wouldn't want us to play Fellaini's way :).
Well it could be the way you wanted if we played an aggressive frontline not allowing time and space for them to play at the back. They'd be forced to play long, giving us the aerial advantage in the midle. But you cannot play a high pressing game, all game, all season (Abe Lincoln said that :wenger:). So during a game you could switch between high pressure and relentless attack to sitting back and waiting for the mistake.

Pressing frontline: Sanchez - Lukaku - Lingaard (granted, Lukaku may not be ideal for this...)

They play a back three, so Shaw and Valencia will only need to concentrate on the wingbacks. That leaves a man for man midfield which I think Fellaini, Pogba and Fred would dominate high and low. Ideally I´d have Matic for Fred as a defensive midfielder, as he'd be more apt to dropping into our backline, freeing our centre backs to drift a bit wider. But as it stands, I think it'll be Fellaini at defensive duties performing a similar task.

In a Mourinho point of view, when they do manage to get the ball to their midfielders, it'll be just the kind of football he thrives against (8th most touches, also 8th most passes in PL). Letting them play ball and waiting for a mistake. They've got a solid ball playing central midfield, and Fellaini is better at disrupting that than given credit for. Outside our defense, him, Pogba (both joint with 5) and Sanchez (6) has made the most tackles in the team this year. We would punish any mistake by hitting them at the break. Both Fred and Pogba will have the tempo and energy for it.

Bennet and Neves both have 9 fouls each, one less than the PL joint 4th most fouls. These are players in deep positions, so either they adapt and we create chances or Fellaini will be a weapon on set-pieces.

Wolves have nothing to lose as we saw against the Bitters who just managed to scrape a draw at Molyneux. I expect a United win by the odd goal. The usual story I guess, Wolves will press high and harass those in possession. We will revert to the long ball to combat that. They will score first and it’ be squeaky bum time until we get the two goals and hang on for three points.

    Or 1-0 to them

You play 3-4-3, right? I wasn't going to make a big deal out of this, but if we can stop you from playing out from the back, we would most likely win the long balls too.
Now Boly could probably mark Fellaini, but that means he is on Fellaini duty. If we played Pereira instead, Boly would be marking Lukaku. Who is marking Lukaku? The pecking order changes, and we gain one more target in the box.
I really like this Wolverhampton team, but I also think it´s the kind of team Mourinho thrives against. You are better than most out of top 6 at keeping the ball and looking for opportunities. That will be your gameplan, as you say, you do not adapt. Now let's also be honest, you are not top tire just yet. Your ambitions will secure you a top half finish, but the ambitions will more often than not be punished against the big teams.

Why the hell is this game on Saturday? Why not Sunday?

It's what I expect to see, not what I would pick. See it as a 4-2-3-1 if you wish.
I doubt Jose would even think about that line up. He of all people should know Fred and Pogba's limitations. They'd be overwhelmed by Wolves' four-man centre.
