Why does David Pleat call United simply "Manchester" in his commentary? Has anyone else called us that apart from foreigners who don't know who City are?

Also, he just said to Martin Tyler at the end of the game today "Watching this match, being with you today...". Tyler gave an uncomfortable silence.

Because there isn't another team in Manchester worth mentioning, he just figured that if he'd say Manchester everybody would just know he means United...

I thought the commentary team was Martin Tyler and Andy Gray?

Or was that just on Sky?

It was Gray and one of the other no marks on Sky today (clip in the football forum), and Pleat and Tyler on TWI, which is the feed the rest of the world picks up I think.

I'm sorry, but for all of David Pleats faults and there are many that we know of and I'm sure many that we don't. I will not ever bad mouth him, how can we? I mean how can any United fan forget THAT run/dance across Maine Road. That will stay with me as long as the memory of that night in Barca.
