And as the time goes by and the window closes, they'll soon realize they have about 10 players more then they need, who don't want to be there....

Suddenly 40 looks a steal.

This won't end before the deadline.

We have the upper position in the deal.
Again the window opened June 14th. People need to calm down.

And if they don’t want to go for it then plenty of time to sort other positions and negotiate for an alternative.

Hell no. No where near comfortable with the ball deep in his own area. Ball carrying and timing of interceptions is miles apart too.
...Then what is the predicted role for him? LCM with Bruno on the RCM in deeper role?

Where did you pick this up from? He's very well used to ball carrying and has very good retention.

Most annoying posts are these

People say this every summer while every other team is strengthening their squad

We shouldn’t be happy with United being slowest off the mark every single summer. It shows terrible planning and it always ends up the same way, signing whoever is available in the last weeks

Casemiro as a holding midfielder with Mount and Bruno ahead of him on each side. My guess would be Mount comes deep / next to Casemiro to initiate build-up. He's a very good long range passer and an ability of his that go unnoticed because he usually plays further forward, and there is no need for long passes in the final third.

Now I'm intrigued to find out who's on this list!
Me too. I just struggle to see who it is. I just don't see who offers Mount's creativity, long passing and work rate. I bet all of the players on the list are completely different type of players.

Terrible planning you say?

As much shit as you and other posters like to throw United’s way, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. Despite how poor it looks outside looking in. At the end of the day, the owners and the dithering (Joel is known to take a long time with making a decision apparently) is the reason why we’re so slow.

At what point do we stop the mentality "we'll be competitive next year", and just get deals done to start competing already next season?
I feel we either need to admit that we will only go for a top 4 finish next year, wait on Kane and Mount, and spend our money on a goal keeper, Rice and a second striker this year, or go all-in and get the deals done (not realistic with our budget and owner situation).
I'm not suggesting we buy nobody. Part of the reason he's a good buy is that the contract situation should mean he's decent value, it's not that he's the only player on the market. If Chelsea are asking too much, then we should look elsewhere for this season and go for him next season, or even in January.

Going higher than 50 million pounds

City got Kovacic - in my opinion a 'stronger' player - for 30 million pounds
Kovacic is also five years older and has only once played above 1900 minutes in the Premier League during a season over a period of 5 years. For comparison, Bruno usually plays 3100-3300 minutes per season in PL.

Dont think this is the end of the world. Look at the other players we spent years chasing... Hargreaves, Sancho... usually not worth the chase and he wouldnt be either. But very unlikely to be worth a lot more than £55 million - which is the case if we're paying it with 1 year left. That suggests hes an 80 million plus player if he has 2 or 3 years on his contract. No chance imo

Rather go for Jacob Ramsey who is similar

Decent player but Villa are loaded now, so they would likely play hardball the same way chelsea are.
I don’t think it would be any easier/cheaper.

An Eriksen replacement.

Against lesser teams it'll be Casemiro with Mount and Bruno ahead of him.

In tougher games it might be Casemiro, Mount or Bruno and a Fred/McT/new signing?

Eriksen was always a stop-gap signing. He'll still play plenty of games this season, but certainly won't be starting week in week out.

He cost Chelsea 40£m. City paid £10m less than his value 3 years ago with 1 year remaining on his contract.

Sounds like a good deal for Chelsea if you ask me.

So you think we signed Casemiro in 2-3 days after our first two games without doing any prep prior to it?

I think we had no plans to spend big at all yeah. We weren’t linked with Casemiro at the time.

I’ll go one further if we pick up 6 points in those first 2 games we dont sign Anthony either.

I’ll go again. This summers ‘Anthony’ will be Onana. Bang average keeper who’s passed it a few times in the CL final and is instantly linked with us although he was available for free 12 months ago and before his drug ban was a calamity waiting to happen at Ajax.

How the feck are we the slowest off the mark? Arsenal haven't signed anyone yet, Chelsea haven't yet, Spurs haven't yet, City are in a stronger position than anyone financially.

We have a very tight situation with FFP and a takeover that's not nearing completion. And we have imbecilic posts asking why we are taking so long to tie up Mason Mount less than two weeks after the window has opened. It's hilarious at how some posters just moan for the sake of it.

If the final bid was £50 + £5 and rejected by Chelsea, United should walk away. If Chelsea insist on meeting in person for further negotiations, United should respond with £48 + £5.

In all transfer negotiations, whether buying it selling, United always come off as desperate and get rinsed in the final agreement. Chelsea are the desperate ones here that need this deal, not United.

Not only should United not be caving to this ridiculous price for Mount, they should be using this negotiation to set a precedent for future negotiations.

It’s well documented we were in for Casemiro and in direct talks with him prior to the 4-0 drumming by Brentford. Apparently Fred knew about us being interested in Casemiro way back in the October of that year!

So unbeknownst to the all knowing members of the CAF, we do, do things on the sly and on the down low. But hey, don’t let that get in the way of a good narrative!

Why is every single one of your posts condescending and seemingly looking down at everyone on here? Its exhausting to read, and surely someone as godly and wise must be tired of all us idiots?

Do you have a reliable source for this?

Casemiro is obviously an exception, nobody knew he was even available. One of the greatest CDMs of his generation... and FDJ was never obtainable.
Quick twitter search and I found this.

Maybe we would have still gone for Martinez in the end but ultimately Timber wanted to stay.

Ok so let’s say that’s true. Why the feck did we chase FdJ all summer then and why did the deal suddenly get done so late into the summer? Because we wasn’t signing both and they’re completely opposites in terms of style

Your argument seems to be that last summer was a successful window? I think it was a complete farce that started with the DoF having a pint with the fans and chasing a player who everyone could see had zero interest in coming here all summer to paying about 20m too much on Anthony because we waited so late and Ajax didn’t need to sell.

That's a lot of posters when you complain about anything in here. As though only their opinion is the only right one and we have to be positive all the time.

R.e. Casemiro, we sure as shit weren't for Casemiro early in the summer. Only when FDJ became a no go did we move for Casemiro.

If we have a backup option for Mount we should probably move on - sometimes the backups are better than the original target. See Arsenal going for Mudryk and getting Trossard instead - a superior player.

100%. I've never changed my mind on this.
Is that on the basis that you fancy your chances of getting him to sign a new contract or that you'd rather have him for one more season than cash in?
