Mason Mount's Misfortune

He’s four places higher in the table and paid double. I’m sure he’s fine x

One small positive is he looked very sharp to me, was harrying their players and looked quick.

That's not even worthy of saying it was a good cameo. That is the bare minimum. He shat himself as soon as the boos came out and one touch passed so the fans would stop.

One touch passing is something we need to see a hell of a lot more of, not something to complain about. Especially at a time when we are defending a one goal lead and need to maintain possession.

Mount was almost certainly our best player from the time he came on until the end of the match.

Bench Bruno. Give Mount a chance to
show what he is made of, as #10. Sell both of them in the Summer if Mount doesnt improve our midfield

He rarely gives the ball away and works really hard. I'd love to see him next to Mainoo, both are great linking up with other players and keeping the ball. Unfortunately, Bruno needs to play every minute of every game he's available.

I mean, it doesn't really matter because he's been injured so much, but when he's fit I think he'd walk into that current Chelsea midfield and attack over everyone. Bar Palmer, obviously.

He’s a good player clearly. Just hope he stays fit and starts forcing a starting role.

Is it just me or did Palmer not play well at all?

I know he scored 2 soft pens and a fluke deflection but other than that he kept killing their attacks.

I like Mason Mount and I want him to do well but it’s just a matter of time before he has another long layoff in my opinion. I see it coming

I thought he was brilliant, has been every time I’ve watched him, and I’d be bouncing if United signed him (I think he’d come too)

He wasn't as good as what the commentators were making out (they were seriously talking like he was Messi out there, exclaiming over every little thing he did), but I thought he was still the best player on the pitch.

I will admit I watched it on a pretty rubbish stream but I just have loads of memories of him overhitting through balls quite often.

I hope not. He's obviously had a terrible 12 months, but before that he barely missed a match in four years at Chelsea. Hopefully that is the norm, not what we've seen this last year.

Mason Mount and Willy Kambwala are set to be ruled out of Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City, talkSPORT understands.

The pair are the latest Red Devils stars to pick up injuries and did not board the train with the rest of the team to travel down to Wembley.

Said this on April 6

I can smell a crock. I say with confidence right now that we won’t ever get 15 games in a row with him in the matchday squad

A player we didn't really need, that I don't really rate and that now appears to be a total crock.

Fantastic business spending £60m on him in his last year of contract.

And strengthening a direct rival's FFP position in the process. Brilliant.

I can’t get over the fact that we paid £60m on a player with one year left in his contract, was injured for the whole following year, and has no obvious position to fill when is available.

It really is just comical.

We did need a midfielder and still do. Fred was rightfully being moved on and our midfield was far behind all of our rivals.

I would agree that he didnt look like the right one to sign, or that we needed more than one and there were better attacking minded ones than him available. For example Maddison has been a lot better this season and cost a lot less. But yes of course we did and still do need someone similar to Bruno to compete for his spot and rotate with him when he isnt on it.

Neither Mount, nor Maddison, were needed. We needed -- and still very much do need -- a central midfielder who can pass the football without treating it like a hand grenade, whilst also not being a total non-entity in defensive actions. Not these no.10 hybrids, an actual central midfielder.

How about we bench Bruno for couple games, let Mount be #10 and see what happens?

Why the feck did EtH buy him, if he had no plan for him? If Erik thought he would play Bruno #10, Mount #8, and Casemiro #6 midfield, then maybe Erik is really as clueless as the Ten-Hag-Out squad thinks. Either way, if that was the plan it clearly didn't work and now we have a #10 who is a shadow of what we need, and the last Summer's top purchase, who can play #10 and sits idle. Fecking try him?

Only chance is if ETH finds an electric wheelchair and a set of fake arms…..

How is he injured again????? We spent 60 million on Phil Jones replacement in the physio room.

What a waste of money. Hopefully, one of the last ones.

Starting the game with 10 men? Interesting strategy.

I think it's clear now that we should have extended Phil Jones' contract. We didn't realise it at the time, but the man was a lightning rod for injuries, keeping his teammates protected through the sheer power of self-sacrifice. Without him, the injury gods are just dishing it out to everyone indiscriminately.

You never know what you've got until it's gone.

Another player wasted money on. Our doctors and physios must be the busiest in the country.

Damn. How unlucky are we? Another injured player.

At some point you have to ask yourself is it really just bad luck?

I'm not blaming this all on Ten Hag either but clearly we are doing something wrong. Is it training, playing players too much last season, the hectic schedule this year, our style of play or a combination of any or all of these things.

exactly

which was why it made no sense at all we went for him in the first place, especially after failing to get de Jong - a player that did actually make sense. They’re completely different players. our transfer strategy never makes sense
