diego never shat on us like messi has.
Never saw Maradonna, but my mind genuinely cant comprehend him being anywhere near as good as Messi.
Done this a million times. 1) win world cup, preferably single handedly and 2) go to an equivalent club like Napoli and do wonders for them. Not rocket mathematics.
Are you serious? If not, this is bullshit. Why should Messi go to a shit team just to prove himself that he's the best? Should he come to England as well just to dispel the myth that he could'nt handle a wintry night at the Brittania. Win the World Cup single handedly? Erm, with a team that consists of Ageuro, Tevez, Mascherano, Pastore...Are you expecting the coach to drop all of his best players just for the fun of it? My point being that if Messi does win a World Cup, he wont be able to do it single handedly because he's playing in such a good team. He would never get the credit for it that Maradonna did.
I feel old when I read stuff like this, I can't believe many who say it have seen much of Maradona in his prime, and he never ever had the machine around him that Messi has at Barcelona.
All I am comparing is maradona's play against united, vs. messi's play against united.
And there is only one winner in this, and it isn't the cokehead.

At least Messi's put this stupid, he'd struggle on a wintry night at the Brittania to bed. He's physically a beast on the ball, not often does Carrick look helpless once someones ran past him, his balance is truly incredible.

I think at the end of his career it will be Messi hands down.
Right now I think it's a matter of preference.
For me Messi's the greatest of all time even if he retired last season.
Don't think he got past Rio mind you
Vidic was another story![]()
i think messi has done at 23 more things that maradona did at that age
but messi still needs to do a couple of things before they can be compared
messis dribbling technique is as good as maradona, but maradona had a couple of things that messi still don't have, the passing habilitie and the free kicks
don't get me wrong, messi is very good at that too, but still not in the same league as maradona

that is the reason you cannot comprehend him being better than Messi.
btw, Best was better too and at a younger age.
Messi's passing ability is absolutely magical. Don't know what you're implying here, but his vision is easily on Maradona's level.
What's his status like in Argentina? Tremendous player without question, but is he as much of a star there?
from old matches i've seen, whilst the tackling was rougher...the team defense was atrocious in the 50's and 60's. so much 1v1......defenses never rotated as fast and closed down space nearly as quick as they do in modern (after 1985) football.
I think someone like messi, whilst would've been kicked more, also would've gotten so much more 1v1 opportunities in 'old' football and consequently roasted teams even worse.
I've heard my relatives say Best was better too, which just leaves my head spinning tbh. I dont know, its way too difficult to compare players from different eras and thats the truth, because its impossible to find an answer; too many varying factors.
