Micah Richards - The Pundit

He is decent bloke, but does he say anything insightful about football, in a TV show about football? If you want to watch comedy show suurely there are better shows around than the one involving Richards, Neville, etc.

Yeah, and that's fine. If everyone on a show behaved like him it would be awful, but you need a mix of characters. And as others have said, the fact he can take a joke as well is a big help.

I really enjoy watching him, especially on the "The rest is football" podcast with Shearer and Lineker.

When watching games on Sky, as soon as I hear the half time whistle, I instinctively press the mute button to avoid hearing Micah Richards singing in the 'we buy any car' advert. I'm basically trained like Pavlov's dog.

Now to keep it on mute throughout his and Sturridge's half time 'analysis'.

Going off trend here, but I thought this was rather wholesome:

He is just so annoying. So I completely agree with you.

No badness in the guy, but he needs to keep reminding us what he did as a footballer and really tries to sell it, even though there is nothing there to sell. It’s almost like he isn’t proud of his career and there is something missing because he didn’t try hard enough and he knows it. Mediocre player looking back but could have been better with the correct mind set.

He's worse when he's trying to be a "serious analyst" and he starts doing his "serious analyst" voice. I don't buy it. Should just embrace his role as the likeable, fun big lad who's willing to laugh at himself, like a really poor man's Charles Barkley.

I'm actually growing to like him. Been listening to The Rest Is Football and he comes across much better on that than on TV.

With the usual regular podcasts being off during the summer break, I've been listening to the back catalogue of some other shows and listened to a few of "the rest is football" episodes, their top 10 ones. It's a great opportunity for Richards to show how little he knows about football and how biased his choices are to the era he played in and the players he knows, with the usual loud man schtick and annoying laughter.

I genuinely don't understand the appeal of him on air, though I guess he must resonate with some people considering the air time he gets.

I'm surprised his picks aren't solely limited to the CBs who played next to him and the wingers that played ahead of him. He knows feck all.

He manages to mention Zabaleta A LOT to overstate his own playing credentials. Listening to him, it's sometimes easy to forget how much of a mediocre player he was.

I'll give him consistency though - his punditry is about at the same level his playing career was.

Yeah it's painfully obvious at times when he's sitting next to people who've played among the pantheon of greats and he's trying to hype up Javier Garrido.

This is weird thing I find with people like him. For whatever reason, he has been afforded an opportunity of a job which he clearly is not equipped for. So you would think at least he could educate himself and try to learn and understand more to enable him to more successful. This is at least in his control unlike his playing days where he was an average player.

I listened to their top "teenage sensations" episode, well about 15mn of it because it was unbearable, but for some reason he was included in the list. Way too much time was spent talking about himself and how amazing he was when he "burst on the scene", how it was scandalous anyone could think Ferdinand was better than him as a teenager, etc.

His inferiority complex is insane.

Yeah I agree with this. He comes across as someone who enjoys the spotlight and the sound of his own voice but is pretty lazy, he doesn't research the things he's talking about or take it seriously.
