Sad to see Carrick go, always liked him as a player and been impressed with how he stepped up at a difficult time for the club and given us a chance to salvage the season by stopping the rot. I guess he feels that he has to go given the way things have gone with the regimes he has been part of and didn't want to be 'imposed' on the next manager.Classy. At least he has self-awareness unlike Ole. Good job as caretaker.
Now Phelan and McKenna need to do the right thing and follow him out the door.
Sat there frozen in fear, Wreck It Ralf is coming for you.. Sounds like a horror moviePhelan, McKenna are you watching?
Why should we pay him to learn? Why should the team suffer having a Learning on the job coach when we could have hired a proper "already good" coach to start from day 1? Rangnick would have his hand full he needs a coach he can delegate and trust, not another coach for him to coach.Self- what now? Carrick hasn't achieved jackshit as a coach to pretend that being Rangnick's coach is below him. He was a coach of a terribly coached team, assistant manager of a weak manager who got sacked. Under Rangnick maybe he would have learned a thing or two. Thinking you are better than you actually are and passing on an opportunity to improve is ego, not: self-respect.
Every great coach learned under somebody at some point. It's only the shitty ones who imagined they knew something purely based on them having had been a good player in the past. Having experience as a player and being a coach/manager is not the same thing. Carrick didn't learn anything under Jose, and there was nothing to learn off Ole, so - why would it be bad for him to learn under Rangnick, a legend that many modern top managers look up to? What exactly is wrong with that?
Jose was one of the finest managers the EPL had ever seen while Ole gave the likes of Carrick complete control over coaching. Carricky could rely on Phelan as well who was Sir Alex no 2. Was it perfect? Of course not. We are Manchester United. The club's aim is to win trophies and not to teach Carricky the basics of coaching.Self- what now? These "fan" channels are creating a big influence on a lot of posters. independent thought is becoming less with them.FFS from reading some of the posts on this thread I think Goldbridge has too much influence on our fanbase. He may not mean to be overly critical but the regularity and length of his shows means that he has to fill lots of airtime with hate and vitriol.
Good luck Carrick! Hope you do well and I looked forward to seeing you in the Premier League soon.
Well he's undefeated and got 4 points away to Chelsea and vs ArsenalClassy move.
I'd wager that Carrick would get a PL job sooner than Ole.
Think we could well get a better idea on that when he does his presser this morningI thought Rangnick’s number 2 was staying at Lokomotiv? Does this mean Phelan as assistant or does Ralf have someone else lined up?
Ah yes December 2009 wasn't it and unfortunately we got smacked 3-0 away at Fulham after losing to Villa at homeI remember years ago him stepping in as a CB when we had an injury crisis. Top player, underused by England. Definitely deserves a well earned rest.

Agree with this 100%. Was biting my teeth last two games seeing Darren fecking Fletcher working his way onto the coaching bench. Another one who needs to be put in his place and quickly by RalfRight decision, respect to him. McKenna and especially Phelan should do the same.
He's been here he came here as a player. What does this have to do with his coaching career?
To be fair, if we got less coaching value from him, we would have extracted more overall value from that transfer. Coaching sucked for the last three years, and him with McKenna were the two in charge of coaching. So in that aspect, it was a net nagative. It’s ludicrous how much value we got out of that. He’s one of my favourites so I’m biased but he was literally the final piece. To get 10yrs and then some coaching all while not creating any issues is stuff that 18m can not really compensate.
number 16had found a true successor
Whatever happened to criticize the post and not the poster? And you are a scout here?Posts like devilish's are scummy. But he's had a literal 20 year run posting similarly. Just as consistent in producing awful posts as Carrick was at finding great passes.
Dont mention it.Thanks for contributing here with all of your zero insights mate.
