He's earnt it. Fair play. The critics too was warranted at that time. But again to be fair he turn it around
Would like to point out that I said last year, 6 months ago, and 3 months ago they would be morons if they panicked and tore their whole project down.

You could see what they were working toward after the first year.

Patience has been rewarded.

I hope my team is smart enough to venture the same of that rarest of modern qualities.

Arsenal fans should t just be excited, they should be hopeful and proud. This is the start of something, not a “good run”.

Arsenal fans who wanted Arteta out didn’t do it because of his limitations, but because of their own. Arsenal fans are a very loyal passionate bunch, but their thirst for instant success and general lack of understanding of football was exposed with Arteta. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to see that we had one of the most unbalanced, demotivated, overpaid and empowered squads in the country. The squad had to be gutted completely and restarted from scratch, yet even with an fa cup on board (look at how tough it’s been for United and Spurs to get over the line with better teams than ours), a lot of our fans just didn’t have the mental capacity to see beyond the results and to notice, appreciate, or assess the gradual changes in the dressing room and on the field.
Now everyone is jumping on the Arteta bandwagon, which is great for him, but the most impressive thing about Arsenal in the last year or so is that while the fans and media were losing the plot at the start of last season, the board were never going to sack Arteta, they had no expectations last season, and no title challenging expectations this season either, he just keeps hitting targets ahead of time. The most impressive thing he has done is in the players he got rid of rather than necessarily the ones he brought in. Where are Ozil and Auba now, and look how we used to amble around as a team and how we press now.

He is surely proving to be one of the best young and upcoming managers. People just don't want to give him credits because he was ridiculed in the beginning (me included), but at some point you have to appreciate what he is doing.
Why do people think he can't be a great manager? People are quick to call Marco Rose, Nagelsman, Amorin, ETH (who is the oldest among them) as the next up and coming great managers but not Arteta, who is doing it in the premier league challenging the best coach?

He is Pep's prodigy, he learnt from the best and actually is doing it his way by playing more kids with some beautiful football. Last season there were signs he was building something and this season has just taken off. Not saying they will win the league but you just have to give him his dues.

Which manager under 50 looks better than Arteta?
Gallardo, Amorim, Nagelsmann, Tuchel, to name a few.

He is doing extremely well and looking very promising, but he doesn’t jump to the top of that queue after spending a lot of money and enjoying a great start to the season.

He could well prove to be the best of his generation, but to state that at this juncture is ludicrous.

Arteta is one of the best young manager in the world. I dont think there is a better manager than him under 50. What's more telling is Arteta is only 40.

Rival fans like to meme him and not rate him. But honestly how much longer can you deny his quality?
 Just one of the many reasons I don't want Arsenal winning. You lot get cocky so quickly.

You could kind of see it but it still required a big leap of faith. At least Chelsea knows that Potter can build a team and a playing style. He now has to do it with bigger sucess targets than top half of the table. It really sucks he got the job after they botched the transfer window and puts useless players on mega money.Auba will probably get his third payoff in 2 years.

Best young manager in the game? Who would have thought that is possible. But his brand of football is impressive this season.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
5 points clear with a team he’s built himself.

Also, imagine if Guardiola had Jesus and Arteta had Haaland… how many points clear would he be then? 10? Maybe more!?

It’s seriously impressive.

He'd be 10 points behind. Jesus is way more influential the way they play.

Don’t be daft, FFS.

If you gave Jesus back to City and gave Arse Haaland, they’d be even further in front - albeit with a slightly different set up.

Haaland being fed by Martinelli and Saka with Odergaard in behind would be incredible.

Implying them having Jesus rather than Haaland is an advantage to them is either WUM or delusional.

I would disagree and Jesus is a very important player for Arteta's game play. Imo Arsenal atm can't carry a player like Haaland.

They’ve spent like 136m. This season. We’ve spent like 240. Yet there 3rd and we’re 5th.
Again you're wilfully ignoring the 100m in the Jan before and also, in what world should they be able to match our spending all of a sudden?

Plus, we've played two less games and the season doesn't end after 15 games, not that that was the point we were originally talking. About. I'll stop here as I'm derailing this thread.
They have the best xGA in the league.

They've actually now overtaken City in xPTS.

I was hoping they'd get dragged back into top 4 race but they're nailed on for top 2 unless they have severe prolonged injury crisis.
Interesting, I guess with my example, it wouldn't be a high xGA, because someone fecks up the easy chance creation.

I think the WC will certainly change things, we can't take conventional viewpoints with a massive international tournament in the middle of the season.

Halaand is the far better goalscorer BUT Jesus stretches teams, links up with others that creates space and chances for others to score in a way Halaand can not do. He also presses and defends far more relentlessly than Halaand. This sees us win the ball back more frequently up the pitch than we did previously and I'm pretty sure Halaand doesn't offer that advantage either. It also makes us better as a defensive unit.

Not that I wouldn't swap Jesus for Halaand but there's advantages to having a player like Jesus over a traditional number 9.

He is doing a great job and is showing what happens when you give managers time that you believe in.
When he was compared with Ole the big thing for me was even with time you could see Ole was limited and while I didn’t expect Arteta too be this good I definitely seen more potential.

Under ETH I feel we have the right manager and hope we do the same as Arsenal. You can see this season that all ETH signings have been great and it will take a while to make a team to challenge the league. When we beat Arsenal in the post match ETH said we are a bit behind Arsenal due to them being a team for longer so I’m hoping we go the same way as them.

I have a few Arsenal mates who are unbearable but rather see them win the league over city

Fair. But Arteta has done a great job and is proving him to be a fantastic manager with really high potential. There is this sinetiment that all you need to do is give your manager time and you can have the Arteta/Arsenal effect, but this isnt true. There is a chance it doesnt happen given the fact the manager isnt as good as Arteta.

This is my opinion with regards to Potter. I dont think he is as good as Arteta and no matter how much time Chelsea give him, it wont work out. As for ETH, who knows. I still think ETH needs to shift United defensive line 5 yards higher and weed out those who cant function.

Yeah I’m surprised at how good Arteta has been and have to give it to him he has been great.

also about ETH he tried to play his style first two games and we lost both including at hammering off Brentford so he eased up to a style that suits the players until he gets his own squad so I’m happy with that. We will play a higher line etc when he gets the players he needs for it in as he obviously knows after the start of the season who is good enough and who is not.

He went from budget pep to coca cola. He's pounding his critics doggy style. It's not even the best or most expensive squad in the league.

Not really. Has he played against a team yet this season who has their best players? Brightons 3 best players all out. And it’s the same each week. Luck will run out

People would do well to remember this as we inveitably go through rough patches in ETH's first year or so. Unfortunately they won't

Ah yes, the theory of the magical fixture list returns. As we’re closing in on the halfway point where we’ve played everybody, the goalposts have shifted from the teams we’ve faced to the specific order in which we’ve faced them.

You haven’t played everybody. Fun fact, we’d have played you and City twice before you two play each other

If he wins the league with that relatively unremarkable squad over the City behemoth spearheaded by Haaland….it’ll be some fecking achievement. It’ll be seriously impressive, and honestly I can’t stand Arsenal but you’d have to say fair fecks to it

They are doing very well at moment.

Don't blame the fans for being very excited. They look so solid.

Still plenty of football too play, but seen stat earlier if they don't win league from where they are at the moment regarding points at this stage, they he the only team since 85 united team to not win the league.

Decided to look at the team in 2nd.. you haven’t played them. And when you do you’ll lose

Didn’t bother looking beyond that. United beat Arsenal with ease and that’s about the only full strength team I can recall you playing

As I say, it’ll catch up with you. Many better teams below you

How ridiculously daft.

Who are these many teams?

We have the 3rd best xG.

2nd best xGA.

2nd best xP.

We have played well in almost every game this season we've played in. Including against United actually, which you might want to say was at ease, but the stats disagree. The biggest issue that game was the lack of Partey. You just went through our midfield on the counter. But, that is one of our biggest weaknesses, that we have no backup to him.

The lengths people go to in order to discredit us at times. City are a better side, as they should be. But beyond that, we deserve to be where we are.
