those rules work, we use most of them especially the powerplay when 4 up, but I don't like

Coaches may ask questions that prompt players to think for themselves but must not shout instructions during matches. [Law 1]
Explaining to a child where he could be on the pitch is a good thing, it's not constant shouting, it's explaining whilst the match is going on. My kid loves to defend (under 7's) so hardly ever goes forward but is a decent passer so would just tackle and pass, the coach has now got him tackling then driving into space and his confidence on the ball has soared
