That didn't work against Arsenal this season.

TBF, we werent under the cosh against Arsenal. I think it was a mistake bringing him on in that game cos we werent under pressure anyway and kinda gave it up by taking off Mata.
IF that makes sense.

Considering how badly Leicester need a Kante replacement, would be great to see something like Schneiderlin + 15M for Mahrez in the summer.

---------Ibra---------
Martial-Mkhi-Mahrez

with Rashford backing up Ibra and Martial and Mata backing up Mkhi and Mahrez (or a 3rd midfielder playing with Pogba and Herrera) would basically be perfect. Rooney and Memphis move on and that's that.

Can see signs of lots of players improving and gaining confidence. I'd like to see him given a run in the team to see if he can improve too.

Has anyone started a hashtag for him yet?

We were under the cosh against Chelsea last season, we brought him on to defend the 1-0 lead but at the end we conceded. And when we conceded the goals against Chelsea and Arsenal, Schneiderlin was jogging and watching only and also marked no one. If he's only suitable for such a task, £100k per week will be completely waste of money.

Did he ever get a run of games. We have plenty of games coming up.. If we are playing 3 in midfield, would love him to start and play 90 minutes in a few..

At the time I thought he was a decent signing but looking back it was a daft signing; He's a good player but just not wanted LVG or Mourhino needed, he'd be perfect for Everton given the way they play.

I only see him leaving in January if we buy a replacement or our German hangs around until the summer as it would leave us a bit light in midfield.

We all expected him to play as the DM in LVG's 433, that could have worked nicely. Never really had a chance to play that formation with him regularly as a DM though. Was all a bit strange.

I assumed he'd be first choice too but I hadn't seen a lot of him at Soton and have been a bit disappointed as I thought he was more talented. He's too limited to play that role for United.

He isn't a DM, he is more a "all action" player, so purchasing him for a role that he isn't able to fill was surprising. He could be a CM for Simeone or Allegri.

Don't know why people expected him to be good signing if he has the chance to play DM in 433 when at his best season he was box to box and Southampton actually played 4231.

Schneiderlin's signing almost as much as any showed the terrible approach Van Gaal had in the transfer market. He wanted Utd to suffocate games by keeping the ball and yet signed a midfielder so bad in possession he hides from the ball during games. He's beyond pointless.

Yep, but that was often how he was viewed coming into our midfield. Most people expected Schneiderlin/Schweinsteiger/Herrera, I know he's played DM for France before also.

I guess he just isn't as good at that position.

He played one game as a DM for France.

If he does stay I'm not sure which role he plays. I'd assume he suits the role that Herrera plays most? I don't think his passing and positioning is good enough to fill in for Carrick. I think he's a good player but not able to fit into our plans.

Probably the worst LVG signing all things considered. At least with Depay you can see what he's trying to do when he plays (even though he's shite at it) but this guy is just the most pointless player to ever exist.

Massively disappointed with this signing. I was so excited when we got him from Southampton. Seemed like a completely different player for them. Just seems as if we don't know how to use him. A shame.

count me as one who still believes in him, and hasn't been as disappointing as some have made out.

let's be honest, he hasn't really been given much of an opportunity this year. he's a quality player, and i firmly believe the day he gets regular first team action (likely with another team, mind), he's going to show everyone why we were so excited to have bought him in the first place.

I'm still not sure wtf LVG was planning to do with that entire window. On paper, he looked like an excellent signing to be an upgrade on Fellaini in the 4-3-3 that worked so well toward the end of 13/14 with Schweinsteiger being a Carrick alternative so we weren't utterly reliant on him. It all made sense at the time. As we all know, LVG scrapped it and got the sack.

I think Schneiderlin will be a good player for his next club, but with the changes Mourinho has brought in midfield he needs to go as he doesn't really have a place in this system.

Its not looking good for MS but I wouldn't be so quick to slag him off. His best performance for United was last season's 3-0 win at Everton and coincidentally that was probably one of United's best overall performances under LVG. You have to sometimes question why managers do the things they do, like continually selecting Fellaini over MS and BS. I think he deserves to start a few games

Why do we have such painfully limited central midfielders. Fellaini only gets in the team cos he can head the ball, while Schneidetrlin's only real attribute is that he can run around a bit.

For Manchester United midfielders to be unable to pass the ball well is absolutely criminal.

And one of the rare times that those 3 started together Liverpool couldn't get the ball off us at Old Trafford last season. And that's the only time I remember that line up.

Very disappointing how this move turned out.

Cant believe people are still holding out for this guy. Completely frozen out by Mourinho, and with the more frequent performances by Carrick and even BFS has returned to the first team squad can only mean that Mourinho doesnt want this guy

I hope he gets 90 mins on Thursday
Why? I don't see the point clinging on and hoping so why waste time giving him 90 meaningless minutes.

Play players who deserve to play or who fit the system and unfortunately for Morgan he isn't one of them.

He's done here and I feel a bit sorry for him, like Shaw and Herrera it looks like this was club signing with Van Gaal having little knowledge about him. And now Mourinho is not that interested. Schneiderlin was a good player for Southampton and became a French international, he has wasted 2 years here and should back himself and leave if he can.

Still baffles me he hasn't played enough for Mourinho yet. Wonder what he's doing wrong in training to have Fellaini ahead of him.

He's barely been given a chance so how you say he doesn't deserve to play? I hope he plays the full 90 and gives Mourinho something to think about. Im about tired of seeing Fellaini get minutes ahead of him and Schweinsteiger

When he gets his chance he has to take it. But he didnt take it when he had his chance played as a starter in Europa League against Feyenoord and Fenebache. He didn't even take his chance when he came on from the bench against Arsenal either, and end up as a ball watcher when Giroud scored. At least Fellaini took his chance at the start of season.

Fellaini had a run of games, something he has been given a bunch of times in his United career. Schneiderlin had that one time, sort of, at the start of last season. We still swapped our midfield about a lot with rotation but he was still involved. And those were his best performances so far

Fellaini had run of games because he did the job that are asked by the manager. The haters are just making him a scapegoat because he has connection with Moyes and not United quality with a poor hairstyle.
Schneiderlin last season was clearly being inconsistent, LVG played him when he played well but dropped him when he played poor which I think it's fair enough. This season he has given some chances by Jose but he didn't take them at all.
Look at Mkhytaryan, he had his chance against City but he didn't take it, so he was dropped. Later on he got another chance in Europa League and against West Ham in cup and he took the chances and showed that he deserves a starter against Everton which he got one. If players got their chance then they have to take it, if they don't take it then don't blame the managers for dropping them.

he needs a chance to show what he could do, i think this guy deserves a good run of games, he's completely wasted at United. I recall him having MoTM performances against us at Old Trafford and against Renties at the bridge to name a few. I don't think it's fair to write this guy off without giving him a chance.

I think a trio of him Pogba and Herrera would actually offer something. Him and Basti rotating with Carrick is much better than Fellaini on my books.

I really though he could be a good fit here. I don't know quite why it hasn't worked but clearly JM just doesn't fancy him at all. Probably be best for all concerned if he was to move on - I wish him well if he does.

Not in the squad for Zorya tie along with Memphis apparently so looks like that's the end of him here realistically.

To be fair this kind of post was written time and time again about Fletcher. Until he found his use and suddenly the fans loved him.

Im sure someone will now try and claim Fletcher could always pass and was never criticised.

Think they will both end up at Everton in January to be honest. Schneiderlin is an upgrade on McCarthy, and Bolasie is out for the season.
