Earlier in the season he was being slaughtered by half of the posters on this board for negative/out of date/anti United tactics, In the last 8 weeks we've played Chelsea/Liverpool/City/Spurs/Arsenal with a record of won 5 drawn 0 lost 0.

We now sit 2nd in the top 6 mini league with almost double the points of Liverpool. A few of the anti Mourinho cult members need to eat their words.

The most impressive thing about this is that we’ve looked comfortable playing our football in all of those games. I’ve felt that we were going to win and I haven’t felt that since Fergie left.

I've felt that too, but watching the games objectively I've no idea why! We're still playing slow, plodding football....it's just everyone else seems less effective against us... Must be what a Mourinho team feels like from the inside. Nice to be winning all the same.

It is very strange indeed having this feeling again. We played an almost boring game against Arsenal and even after they scored I just knew we werent gonna belly it up and would score a goal out of nowhere. Says more about Arsenal than it does us to be fair.

It's a great stat. I don't think I've ever entered a game versus Mourinho & felt confident, regardless of the club he's been at.

fun fact for moyes. His points tally is after playing 6 teams while the rest were against only 5 teams (because we couldnt play ourselves)

One less stick to beat Jose with. This thread will have about 3 pages tops.

I am shocked that the cult isn't prepared to give Mourinho credit where it's due.
"But but we parked the bus at anfield....."
Some people will never accept jose. One day is top six stat, then it is martial and rashford, then it is some "ugly" win. If all that arguments are gone then it will be sevilla. That argument will always stand.

Pretty evident why people were questioning Mourinho after last season regarding these games.

In related news, no team in the top 6 took more points off us than we took off them.

3 to us, 3 to Chelsea, City and Spurs.
4 to us, 1 to Liverpool
6 to us, 0 to Arsenal

Props also to our players who were criticized for not turning up in the big games. Lukaku, Pogba and Sanchez have all played a major part in our wins.

I assumed this thread wouldn't be very popular.
Probably doesn't help that the OP is being a bit abusive. Leave off the last sentence, not have his second post in the thread and I'm sure it'd get more replies. How many threads get loads of replies within 2 hours at this time on a Monday anyway?

Yeah, good to see the points against the top 6 back to LVG/Fergie levels. Under Moyes we went into every game against top 6 knowing it was likely lost before the game kicked off. Record under LVG was fairly poor against the lower teams at times but with Mourinho we've become a lot more consistent except for the odd game like Huddersfield, Newcastle, West Brom and the three draws over Christmas.

People are busy changing goal posts. Last year everyone was complaining games against top 6 not being good enough and giving credit to pool for the same. Now we've done well against top 6 and suddenly our playing style is the issue even though we've beaten all 19 teams in the league :wenger::wenger:

Yeah, the recent results against top 6 even somehow made up for the Sevilla loss for me. Looking forward to our next season

People should apologise for getting it wrong, just like they wanted Mourinho to do after our CL exit.

Apologies, lads. Make them.

How did moyes play 6 games while others played 5?
As already explained, we ended up 7th that season, however, the worst thing is that a lot of them were drubbings.

City: 1-4 away, 0-3 home.
Liverpool: 0-3 away, 0-3 home
Chelsea: 0-3 away, 0-0 home
Arsenal: 1-0 home, 1-1 away ()
Everton: 0-1 home, 0-2 away
Spurs: 2-2 away, 1-2 home.

Days of joy.

Moyes is such a soggy banana. He couldn't even beef up his record against the top sides with the champions. Trust Arsenal to give him his only win though.

Eat our words? Why? His defensive style is boring shit...we barely look a team when we have the ball....stringing coherent passes together is nearly impossible at times....I give a shit what he does against the top four or five, what I do care about is what we do against the lesser teams...thats what wins the Prem...and losing to clubs like WBA who we should be walking through is ridiculous.....working hard to win Europa just so we can get back into the Champions League only to turtle against Sevilla again is ridiculous and falls on him for the most part....now he certainly deserves another season with another war chest....I hope I eat my words, but I have serious doubts he will be around after next season if things dont improve quickly. This is a harsh I know and I can appreciate what he has done against hte top sides but just tired of seeing a traditionally attacking side look shite on the pitch.

Pedantic but we lost 1-0 to Liverpool away I think

You have to go back around 10 years before you see us as an attacking side, even if SAF last few years we where dross going forward. Mourinho has scored the most goals since SAF too. "Nostalgia plays tricks on people" that's a SAF quote, and posters around here act as if we never had poor results vs lesser sides under him. Our points total this season is better than a number of his title winning teams but let's not talk about that.

I feel like there have been multiple threads on this topic.

Anyway, this is excellent from Jose.

I feel like the rhetoric concerning his approach in the big games got amplified after the draw against Liverpool and the loss against City at home. And some level of criticism was justified IMO; in a title race against a side like City, you can't afford to go into games with the intention of leaving points on the table. Everyone is saying that City's point haul is an aberration, but what if they maintain this level of performance? We'll need to be more stingy with points at both ends of the table, against Huddersfield and against Liverpool/Tottenham, to give ourselves a chance of winning. Again, I think Jose just has to maintain or exceed this record next season and we'll be in good standing to provide a title challenge.
