Don't have time to watch Spurs a lot but for me today he was the best player for them, and to think Martinez still has De Bruyne and others to choose for the WC.

One of the best midfielders in the world to watch for me. I wanted him when he was at Fulham and was gutted Fergie passed on him.

So incisive. Top player.
Great player with the ball at his feet, tough in the challenge. But lacks any real end product, he glides by 2 or 3 players then plays a safe pass to a team mate 3ft away or has a scruffy wayward shot.

Has his issues, which would be vision, range of passing, fitness and his shooting. Other than that his ball carrying from midfield is simply world class. He isn't the same player without Eriksen. Also he gives away a silly amount of soft fouls. This sounds negative but he would be a very hard player to replace.
He can break any kind of pressure. Takes what looks like risks with the ball but almost never loses it.
If he had it he probably wouldn't be now at Spurs.
Wanted him too. His dribbling and ball retention has always been incredible and now the rest of his game has caught up (except his shooting, which he no longer bothers with for his own good) his strength, and utilisation of it, is something else.
He's a major reason why teams can't get at Spurs through the middle.
I'm not too sure. Fulham was where Spurs bought him from and even then he stood out. He'd have been the perfect partner for prime Carrick.
As for if this is his standard, I rarely ever see him have a bad game. One of the best midfielders in the league for me and is what Pogba should aspire to be like.
I agree - his end product is the only thing he's lacking.

Used to be a striker too. Really wanted us to sign him when Fulham switched him to midfield, you could see the potential. To be honest these performances are nothing new, he's often brilliant for Spurs and is a huge torn in our side when we play them.
The perfect player to illustrate the limitations of statistics. When he's on it, he bosses the midfield effortlessly. There aren't many left but he's a midfield general and has a swagger to his game also.
Not to bring up the Pogba loaition debate again but Dembele is a lad who was always an SS. He was moved to midfield at Fulham and hasn't looked back since. With talent, dedication and a strong mentality he made that position his.

Oh, for sure. He's so strong and I rarely see him being dribbled past. Coupled with the tank they have in Wanyama them playing a two man midfield at times is no problem in terms of being left open.

Or maybe sometimes it takes years to identify the proper position for a player. Schweinsteiger moved from winger to CM, doesn't mean we can expect every talented winger to make it as CM with dedication and mentality.
Everything is about making most of your abilities. Demeble the striker who was poor goal scorer but fantastic dribbler was moved to his proper position bit late in his career.
Edit: He is fantastic though, wanted him when he was at Fulham and played so well against us.
Not 100% sure, but I think Dembele played a lot of street football growing up so he didn't shoot on real goals or play long balls on a big pitch, would make sense if true.
When he is injury free I believe he walks into every side in the world, he’s that good. The past 4 matches (Liverpool, United, Arsenal and Juventus) he could have been man of the match in all 4 (along with Eriksen). Dembele and Eriksen are more important than Kane for us, Kane is my favourite player but we coped well without him last season with Son up top.

Unlike them he's solid defensively too. Thats what people have never understood about him and why he hasnt had enough respect even in the past few seasons when Spurs have been a really good team - perhaps aside from last season where he dipped a little. He wins the ball, he keeps the ball, he goes past players like they arent there. He can find a creative pass very occasionally but he does everything else and can get the ball to the attacking players in dangerous positions without splitting the defence open with a breath taking pass. Today he made 2 key passes, not bad at all
Probably when he played at AZ under LVG, now I am checking and remember his name because a lot of years ago he played against some portuguese team in a Europa League tie, reality is, Belgium has some options for their midfield.

Correct. Grew up in Antwerp in the same neighbourhood as Nainggolan.
Played a lot of streetfootball where the goal would be trying to touch a lantern post with the ball instead of shooting at a goal.
Came from the same youth setup as Alderweireld, Vermaelen, Vertonghen and Nainggolan. Beerschot could've been some team. Wanyama passed through their ranks aswell.
His ability to keep the ball under pressure is fantastic. Belgium could have a crazy midfield on paper, with him, Nainggolan and De Bruyne.

Had a quiet first half to the season but since Spurs have got the act together the last month or so he has been brill.
There's no way Fellaini is a starter for Belgium after basically not playing for most of the season.
I've always thought he is a beast of a midfielder. Low center of gravity and great upper body strength. Great ability to protect the ball and ball just seems to glue to him when he brings the ball through midfield. I followed his performances when he was at Fulham and still remember one of the matches where he ran our midfield ragged while SAF was still in charge. I can't remember exactly which match but it was around the time where he was linked with us and ended up at Spurs. Definitely left an impression with me and I was almost certain then we were going to get him.
If he plays in the last (next) 3 months, he's in.
If he plays, we probably won't finish in top 4.
