I wouldn't be surprised. There isn't anything fundamental in place to suggest this will happen at this stage.

It's a very much "ball in your court" to the government with this announcement. This stadium will not happen unless the government do what they pledged, and governments are very good at talking a good talk but not as good at following it through.

I think they government will fund a regeneration project of some kind, I don't think it will end up being to the level shown here or what SJR expects. It will be interesting to see what happens then. Maybe it suit SJR if that happens, he can save face.

I don’t think the commitment from Government is as big as some think. If you look at the regeneration around North Greenwich, Stratford and Wembley - these are 20-30 years time periods. Building around OT will go on long after the stadium is built.

Is the £291m owed in transfer fees? Like Antony, Onana, Sancho, De Ligt.

It seems quite high.

The government just needs to rezone the land and provide the infrastructure.
Private developers will do the rest.
It's actually not very expensive.

I think most of our signings this summer will Moneyball/Brighton/Red Bull type signings.

We might splash out on one talent but the rest will be young and cheap.

I agree. I was thinking that myself a few weeks back. Once all the cuts and price hikes were announced, I was thinking the board this summer willl be as resourceful as possible. I think they will get one marquee signing and the rest will be moneyball players.

To be honest, I think that is the best option. Signed some good finds with a decent contract rather than 3 superstars who might not work out and are tied to long and large contracts.

Exactly.

Young players have better sell on value and are on lower wages.

I guess the problem is that every club is competing for the same players.

I think most of older players on big salaries are for sale except Bruno. I bet even Onana and Hojlund are for sale but we probably won't get a decent offer for either.

I can see 100m being knocked off our total salary. Casemiro, Rashford, Sancho etc...

I think our Marquee signing will be a striker, unless they're certain Obi Martin will make it, in which case Hojlund will do for a couple of years.

Even the Hojlund signing. He is so young and big money paid. No doubt for the future he can be a dominant player. But not now. Years ago we had Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Ronaldo etc... Anytime those players were signed we already had a seasoned goal scorer. His period now could affect his development because of the pressure. This isn't right.

Relying on Obi Martin to make it is what's wrong IMO. We need a seasoned goalscorer and in time someone like Hojlund could become that player.

This should be a very important summer for the club! Sensible signings and gutting out out of season players.

I don't think Hojlund will ever be tool class but he might do better with better service.

I see more talent in Obi Martin but he's probably 2 years away from being a starter.

I don't get it, the article starts by asking 'How will Manchester United pay for its £2bn ‘New Trafford’ stadium?', but doesn't get anywhere near explaining how or making a financial case for why it is viable.

I don’t know but we are subject to UK legislation. Spanish stadiums are steeper (I know Villareal is particularly steep).

The video the club channel put out mentioned that the current designs are the maximum angle per current legislation. It’s a very low chance of being changed prior to our designs being finalised.

The good news is the architects seemed to working to a brief of steep and close to the pitch.

The interior design isn't finalised but yeah after watching the video from the official Youtube channel with the designer he said there are stadiums out there that are steeper but they wouldn't/couldn't replicate that.

From the very begining, and first quotes by Jim when buying a stake, it was clear that new stadium is his bigest legacy here, even bigger than a sporting sucess.

He will get it done. He will use all his powers and contacts to goverment to help with regeneration of the whole area. And even if he didnt get any help he will built the new stadium, getting a lot of private investors chipping in, Im more than certain about it.

Still steep to be fair. New OT will have 35° stands the maximum in the UK. But the San Siro's top ring is only 37°, so New OT should be steep regardless.

The Sofi stadium looks vertical.

Hopefully it doesn't feel too steep. I watched United at lansdowne a few years ago and the stand where I was sitting was uncomfortably steep.

It’s not 100% happening. But I would suggest it’s far more likely than not happening. However football is littered with broken promises especially when it comes to new stadia.

Is it? how many clubs in the last 10 years have proposed a new stadium, developed models, got govt mayors in the task force, etc and not built one?

Not every city has a Mayor for a start… so the answer to your statement is probably zero clubs have proposed a new stadium over the past 10 years, had a task force, and Mayors involved and had got government backing. I don’t believe Spurs had a task force!!! You get my point. Obviously you also need to look back longer than 10 years.

Clearly no one in their right mind would say that this is 100% happening.
