Martinez cannot organise the cones for training, let alone a PL defence. He's an awful choice, way worse than Rodgers.
I'd have him over Rodgers TBF.

I think it got to a point where he was heavily overrated on here, now it is probably too far the other way. He'd be a decent option, once available. After browsing some manager threads on the front page, I've only seen Poch mentioned a few times. Most of those lean towards not rating him, some would even put him below Rodgers and Potter for example. Coupled with the fact that there's no seperate thread for him, guess he's not rated that highly in caf.Is this a recent change of mind after he failed to win Ligue 1 in his first season or it's been like that since his time at Spurs?
I'm new here so that's quite surprising really. He's shown that he could overachieve and play on the front foot with a lesser squad just like Potter, but also had the experience of challenging at the highest level. Compared to Rodgers, his work also seems more impressing. In their 5 full seasons, Poch would average ~75pts while it's 67pts for Rodgers and that is with Suarez going crazy. In terms of choking, I still don't think Rodgers is any better...
I think most wanted him a few years ago and worry now we would be getting him too late, like LVG and Jose. For what its worth I would bet my house he's the next manager, we're trying to work out a plan how to deal with Ole and wait for PSG to sack Poch at the same time. After browsing some manager threads on the front page, I've only seen Poch mentioned a few times. We pay PSG £10-15m and they get ZZ in to take over? Would Poch want the job though?I think most wanted him a few years ago and worry now we would be getting him too late, like LVG and Jose. For me the biggest criteria for any new manager is their likelihood to be able to overcome Klopp and Pep. Poch to me just seems to be a Pep stylistically but worse. Trying to do the same thing but in a worse way just makes it unlikely we will win a trophy under him which his personal record shows. Klopp and Pep are the best at what they do respectively. I would fancy our chances more with a manager with their own style rather than becoming a poor man's version of Pool or City. After browsing some manager threads on the front page, I've only seen Poch mentioned a few times. Sure. But why would he leave Italy before the world cup? What about Mancini. anyone.
Money.?Sure. But why would he leave Italy before the world cup?
Fair point. He's Mancini though, he has money, I reckon winning the world cup with Italy would mean more to him.Money.?
I mean yeah, I agree that it would be tough for Poch to overcome those 2 if they just take turns having seasons in the high 90s range. That applies to any new manager, though, especially since the only candidate with history of getting a 90-ish season is already snapped up. Still, Pep's soon to leave and Pool are showing more cracks with injuries and in their midfield, I think Poch or ten Hag would have a fighting chance. For me the biggest criteria for any new manager is their likelihood to be able to overcome Klopp and Pep. You lot should have gone for Zidane instead of Xavi.I'm seeing so many posts mentioning Rodgers and Mancini that I'm beginning to wonder if tribalism means something nowadays.
I think it says more about out current managerial/coaching situation to be honest. After Liverpool dismantled us I think a lot of options suddenly became a whole lot more viable.I'm seeing so many posts mentioning Rodgers and Mancini that I'm beginning to wonder if tribalism means something nowadays.
God no.
Imagine
I wonder if Neville will stick to his stance of never asking managers to be sacked if it happens.
I'd be devestated if we let this opportunity slip through our fingers
Poch is way more like Klopp. He’s not really that like Pep at all, relatively speaking. Far more direct and physical than Peps teams. For me the biggest criteria for any new manager is their likelihood to be able to overcome Klopp and Pep. A lot of the Hiddink types of this generation are still in jobs, be that with clubs or national sides. Why are there so few top football managers compared to 20 years ago? If Chelsea sacked Tuchel tomorrow who's the Hiddink equivalent etc they could bring in?
Not related to Ole necessarily just looking for opinions...
I would be all for Pochettino IF we saw the guy that managed Spurs before the 2019 Champions League Final, there is no doubt that his stock has certainly dropped since losing that and still hasn't really recovered his reputationI think most wanted him a few years ago and worry now we would be getting him too late, like LVG and Jose. Valverde, Favre are optionsA lot of the Hiddink types of this generation are still in jobs, be that with clubs or national sides.
Ancelotti, Mancini, Benetiz would be similar stature but are all already working.
Try telling our clueless board thatValverde, Favre are options
Our clueless board thought Ole was a good idea back in summer 2019 when plenty of top candidates were available.Try telling our clueless board that
Yeah precisely why I have switched off emotions about Utd until he's goneOur clueless board thought Ole was a good idea back in summer 2019 when plenty of top candidates were available.
They also gave him a new contract after the calamitous EL final this summer when again, a whole host of top candidates were available.
I'm seriously close to that too.Yeah precisely why I have switched off emotions about Utd until he's gone
