Neymar told ‘don’t go blubbering’

Jesus how soft do you want the game to go! So he has to stand back watch him showboat, let him crack on and make him look a fool, let him past so he can go bag himself a hat-trick so everyone can hail Neymar! What world you living in, its football, a mans sport, contact etc. its bad enough you can't tackle anymore, whether you win the ball or not apparently its not allowed if you touch the player. Don't ever remember Best, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff etc. whinging and moaning about being kicked and they had the likes of Chopper Harris at them constantly.

Man the hell up and just get on with the game, modern football full of absolute fairies

Absolute bollocks. They shouldn't stand back and watch him showboat, they should just defend properly! I'm absolutely fine with tackling as long as you get the ball, and get it first. I'm not fine with sawing a players leg off first and hitting the ball second. Sure the game is full of crybabies these days but that has nothing to do with it.

The problem is if they defend properly he's on the floor screaming bloody murder like he has just been kicked. Might as well kick him once in 90 minutes of proper defending then!?

On a full replay in @BBRBB's post it looks like he used a rainbow flick just before.

edit: Nope, it was just after.

That's a shit rule that should be left behind in the days of Gentile.
Its not a shit rule, its a real world view.
Embarrass somebody and they could lash out. They'll at least get more physical to deprive him of space. That's why you don't do it.
We don't live in a perfect world and I'm not saying its right but it is what it is.

Why is kicking someone deliberately considered okay but diving isnt?

Its okay for you to kick me and risk injury but its not okay for me to fake injury to avoid being kicked.

Kicked, he had two swipes at him jesus, a kick is Cantona on Moncur, assuming you see him in the same light, Eric was horrible when it come to kicking opponents, its part of the game he should have gotten a yellow move on. Modern football where every little thing is microscoped, Troy Deeney saying the other week that the Watford players took turns kicking Zaha, same happens time and again with Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard, are you going to be up in arms every time any attacking player gets kicked or only when Neymar takes one?

Diving is wrong but is now part of the game, kicking is wrong but IS PART OF THE GAME, always has been and if players can get away with it, always will be.

The problem is he's playing in a league that's way too easy for him. He obviously isn't feeling challenge so he resorts to taking the piss at times.

This no wonder riles people up, and unfortunately when people get frustrated they lash out.

As others have mentioned his fondness of rolling around doesn't help either. It often just makes people think "i'll give you something to roll around for".

In an opposite way it can actually make the ref be more lenient, as he genuinely won't know he's been kicked.

No but it’s basically the admission of the intent to hurt opposition players. Football’s moved on. The argument that ‘you can’t tackle anymore’ is nonsense too. Why would anyone want to go back to the days of thuggish tackles being passed off as part of the game? I’d much rather watch players like Neymar that some dick who’s sole purpose is to go around nailing tricky players.

It’s a pathetic attitude.

Leaving Neymar aside... if you can't win a ball cleanly off an opponent and you have to resort to fouling - I can understand that as the game allows it to an extent and we've all done it, but to champion it and come across as morally superior? feck off.. what a tit.

The fact that you’ve been fecking kicked at, maybe?
Like I said, what more can the ref do than give a foul? File a lawsuit for him or pay his medical costs? It's not like he kicked him, did he?

There is zero reason to complain to the ref after you've been kicked and he's given the foul, and it barely happens in other sports either, it's only footballers which can't seem to get over theirselves. If refs acted more consequently, it could've been long gone from the sport altogether.

Also kicking someone because your ego cannot handle how much better they are than you just emits small dick energy

Is it just me or those kicks look really soft? Am I missing something? That's a regular challenge you see every game in my eyes

Kicking someone because they embarrased you with a legitimate skill is pathetic.

Just saw the video. Expected something brutal but of course it isn't. 2 fouls and a challenge for the ball. Strange he didn't roll on the floor for 5 minutes. Or he did?

Yeah this is all very small time. We all know its a dark art that is implemented but its also not something to be proud on. Its pretty embarrassing to have to resort to kicking someone just because their better than you.

Don't like seeing players get injured. If you do a rainbow flick / try to humiliate the opposition you can expect this kind of response though.

These tackles are actually pretty mild, could be much worse.

Players are not robots and they will react. Neymar silly to do this, he clealy feels Ligue 1 is below him and is probably right. Can see him leaving in the next year or two.

Kicking players is a big no no for me. I'd rather watch some skills on show tbh.

Like I said, what more can the ref do than give a foul?
A yellow card?

Anyway, people who complain about showboating are idiots. Football is entertainment. It's supposed to be fun. Doing fancy tricks and flicks is fun. If it has a purpose it completely fine. It's not disrespectful in any way. Who's getting humiliated ffs? It's a game, be an adult and get over it.

What?

Neymar's diving hurts no one physically but a bad kick can seriously injure someone. Are you really saying that kicking another player, which can cause injury is better than a dive?

There has been a media campaign against Neymar starting at the World Cup which means its now open season against him on the pitch. He's not the only player who does flicks, tricks and rolls around a bit on the floor but for some reason everyone thinks its okay to hack him down.
I'm not condoning Neymar's back being broken from a knee, that's way over the top, however putting him on his arse is absolutely fine. If he dives and rolls around the floor, gets a player wrongly sent off due to play acting, that player could miss three games, which is about the same length of time he would miss from a dead leg, probably less in fact. As long as there is no intent to injure, it's absolutely fine. Scholes kicked a lot of people but I don't remember him injuring hardly any.

The campaign against Neymar started during the world cup due to his antics and thanks to VAR all his play acting was highlighted as exactly that. My one lasting memory of that World Cup was that cheats didn't prosper for once.

Burton played Man City in the League cup the other week and got pummelled 9-0. Do you know how many yellow cards the Burton team picked up? 0 cards. Which shows they let City have their own way, showed them too much respect and didn't try to disrupt their play. Whether you like it or not, reducing a game to a scrap is a leveller. If we come to the end of the PSG match and we lost 4-0 without picking up a single card, I'd be fuming.

I do find it interesting the reactions because of the perception of the player.

Was it less acceptable to kick Ronaldinho because he was very popular, or Ronaldo because he played for United?

If anyone comes out with shit like that, then I think there should be a penalty. If you’re going to resort to shitty tactics like that, don’t come out and basically brag about it.

What a whiny bitch. But mum, he’s way better than me, I have to kick him.

95% of the time he doesn't get touched, mans a rodent boo hoo he got a kick, get over it

Get over what exactly?

The mentality espoused by the footballer who kicked Neymar is the same one that led to three Arsenal players getting their leg broken in 4 years.

People had more sympathy for Shawcross than they did for Ramsey.

This mentality that you can kick flair players and try to do them harm because they're more skilful than you are needs to end.

The idea that because you’re a really good dribbler, you’re forced to get lumps kicked out of you and actually carry on without alerting the refs or being angered is pretty fecking batshit to me.

The idea that diving is worse than actually being hacked at is even more batshit crazy to me.
You're vilifying the act of defending here. It's a defenders job to stop an opposition player from scoring, if he comes up against someone who keeps knocking the ball past him or out pacing him, the defender has to do something to stop that from happening, it's literally his job to stop the attack by any means possible. The same way it's the strikers job to get the ball in the net by any means possible. This is where dark arts come in to play, some do it, some don't.

Both things are done with the intent to gain an advantage for their teams, no one genuinely means to hurt someone in the heat of the moment.

As I said before, if you're a defender and Neymar is having free reign down your side how happy do you think your manager is going to be? And how long do you think you'll be playing for unless you do something to make him think twice about flying past you and having another shot? Your manager would be expecting you to come off that field at full time with a yellow card and Neymar in your pocket.

Scholes was a dirty player who got away with a lot of stuff he shouldn't have because "Its Paul Scholes and we all know he can't tackle". The man was a professional footballer who played in midfield........

Intent doesn't matter to me, the result does. A bad tackle can result in a broken leg which means a player could miss months of action. Three games is three games and a red card can be rescinded.

Do you think if Burton kicked lumps out of the City players that would have made a difference? What if one of them got sent off the first time they made a bad tackle? What would the scoreline have been then? Burton just weren't good enough.

Personally, losing 4-0 would be a bigger kicker than not picking up any yellow cards during the loss. What purpose would be served by Arsenal players picking up cards? We would still be on the losing end.

I'll flip the script. If United were beating a team 4-0 and the opposition set out to kick lumps out of your players, would you be okay with it? What if Pogba got injured in the process? Still okay with it?

It was quite tame as fouls go. It's his tantrums that make him a target, as soon as you see that behaviour he's giving the opposition permission to go to town on him.

People who think dribblings and tricks are humiliating, but trying to kick your opponent out of a game is ok, are so damn weird. Why do you even watch or play football? Isn’t that what it’s about? Playing against each other to determine who’s more skilled? The notion that lacking skill, gives you the right to resort to illegal action or even violence, is such absurd nonsense. Get better at stopping players and stop whining.

This attitude is exactly why Arsenal have always been vulnerable to a roughing up.

You cannot expect opposition to turn up and accept a 9-0 drubbing just because the other team are better. There are tactics to level the game and you're daft if you don't employ them.

If we were winning 4-0 I'd expect them to kick the shit out of us. At that point just give them the ball and sit deep. They're not going to kick us without the ball are they?

A tackle or shoulder barge can be a foul without causing injury you know?

Neymar's a cnut, but refs should act accordingly if a thug kicks him three times in a row.

This is football! football is entertainment. you don't kick a player for embarrassing you on the pitch, you try your best to better him and if at the end you are unable to, you be a good sport and give him his respect.
I don't care if Neyma is the biggest cvnt in world football he doesn't deserve to get kicked.

Do a John O'Shea and nutmeg him, don't kick him.

Not by any means possible, this is why we have fouls, and they are punished its also why a striker cannot use his hand to put the ball in the net and will get punished if caught

What Neymar is doing by dribbling is 100% legit, what the defender is doing by deliberately kicking him is illegal

Because you cannot beat the smart guy in an exam does not give you the right to cheat, smuggle cheatsheets into the exam, or go spike his lunch and make him sick to get advantage by any means

If I pay to watch a football match I pay to see the likes of Neymar being able to rainbow flick the ball. If the opposition can't deal with that and hack him help it shouldn't be allowed.

Stamp down on Neymar diving
Stamp down on Neymar then being hacked out.

The referees are mainly the problem here.
