No, we didn´t as Cleveland won. But unlike the Raiders our team isn´t 40 on average.

What does the Raiders age have to do with anything. They're the number one seed in the AFC and will probably win the Super Bowl. They have plenty of money and draft via the Gruden deal (as well as their normal picks) to replenish their stars when the time comes. And they will have the best two cornerbacks in football next year in Woodson and Buchanon. No one will be able to pass on them if both are healthy.

Their team is very old and they´re not just a million over the cap. I´d start worrying about the future if I was the leader of the Army of Darkness.

Both Conferences are as clear as mud. Anything can happen and the Jets and the Titans are the hottest teams in the league right now.

Raoul, ever heard of the word salary cap? They´re way over the cap and have to sign their draft picks. Romo, Woodson, Gannon, Brown, Rice and Armstrong are older than 36 and will probably call it quits. Can you see anyone replacing them?

Healthy and if is the keyowrd here. Woodson is always injured.

You're really clutching at nothing here Jens. We all know that the Raiders are older, but thats all relative. Rice and Brown are still playing at pro bowl levels, and Gannon is playing at an MVP level. I can see those three staying for anywhere from 3-5 years. On top of that, they have been historically very strong in the draft and free agency. Look at last year when they picked up Buchanon, N Harris, and Doug Jolley, all of whom contributed significantly. Romanowski is irrelavent since he's not playing at a high level anymore anyway. R. Woodson will probably be gone due to cap reason, but they really don't need him since they were doing fine without him last year. Add to that the fact that the Raiders have a pocketful of draft picks from the Gruden deal and you're talking about a team that will continue to win, and then reload and win some more as they swap players out due to age and cap reasons.

Sorry Raoul. Last year the Jets were happy to be there, this year they will be awful tough to beat. The Raiders may deserve to be favorites, but they don't scare anyone. I agree with Jens that they are probably the third best AFC team in the playoffs right now behind the Jets and Tennessee.

I like the Giant's chances against SF. They are playing very well on both sides of the ball and are just a better team right now.

Tough spot for a dome-turf team to come to the Meadowlands in January and play on that horrible field. When the Jets heard that they had a chance to make the playoffs, they crushed Green Bay. The momentum builds - Jets easy.

Based on form, Cleveland and Pitt will play a very tight game. I could see Pitt winning by a last second field goal.

Why is the NFL playing a Saturday night game in Green Bay? If conditions are OK, should be a high scoring game. I think that ATL will hang in there for a while, but I think that the Pack will stop Vick more times than ATL stops Favre. GB by a TD.

Mora has never won a playoff game and Manning hasn´t done too well in big playoff games in his career, either. They lost to the Titans as the #1 seed 2-3 years ago, choked in a playoff game v Miami 2 years ago and blew a big first half lead and I think Manning´s record in big Bowl game in college isn´t exactly stellar, either.

Well Kenny. The third best team happens to have homefield throughout and the best passing game in the league. Good luck in getting to Oakland.

Don't forget his dismal record as a pop warner and high school qb as well. It's all relevant you know. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

No, but it´s time for him to win a game when everything is on the line. :)

The Jets looked good in the Monday Night against Oakland.

I somehow fancy Cleveland to upset Pittsburgh.

But now the Jets have the highest rated QB, and won in Oakland last year. I'm looking forward to meeting Oakland, but first things first.

Going to a place like Oakland after the Raiders have a bye week and home field, and the whole city is amped will be very hard. If the Jets win in Oakland then I'd say they might win the SuperBowl.

Raoul, it seems that the Jets play there twice a year as it is. Next year they are on the road in Oakland. Some of the fans are great, but the place doesn't even sell out. Jets will play well there. I hope it happens.

Parcells is the new Dallas Head Coach and will be presented to the media on Thursday. 4 years, $ 17.1m. Have there ever been 2 people with a bigger ego than the Tuna and Jerry jones in charge of a football team?

Kenny, you had the Tuna for a few years, what do you tink about him?

Steve Spurrier and Dan Snyder. I think Jones is really clutching by hiring Parcells. He's old and doesn't have the winning edge anymore after having already reached his peak in the 80s. Its similar to when Jimmie Johnson took over the Dolphins in the mid 90s. The hunger just wasn't there anymore.

Who would you have hired in Jones´ position?

I don´t think the Tuna will stay for 3 years but he´ll take them to the playoffs in 2004.

Can it be true that Parcells´ record without Belichick is below .500?

Jones tried hiring coaches who he could easily manipulate (Switzer, Gailey, Campo), and now that he's found out that they were crap coaches, he's trying to hire what he thinks is the best in Parcells. Parcells was a fantastic head coach in his own right, but he's over the hill these days. If I were Jerry Jones, I would've hired some a coach who is hungry for success and is willing to make dramatic changes in the Cowboys personell in order to do it (like Jimmie Johnson did in 89).

Coaches I like are Nick Saban, Butch Davis (whom Jones has worked with), Mike Belloti, Bob Stoops etc.

Agreed about Jones and Gaily, Switzer and Campo. I´ve also had the impression that Jones tried hiring guys who had no ego and who he could tell what to do. I wouldn´t exactly say they were crap coaches because we don´t know what decisions were Jones´ and what decisions were made by the coaches. For the Cowboys to be successful again Jones has to cut back. Quincy Carter in the 2nd round? Pleeeeeeeeeeease

It won´t be long before Jones and Parcells clash.

Rich Gannon has reportedly won NFL MVP. Congratulations. I love arguing when it comes to the Raiders, but Gannon deserves it. Sets a good exmple for young players what you can reach if you work hard.

The MVP award is more and more becoming a best player award tho. Oakland would still be a pretty good team without Gannon whereas Favre basically led the team on his own.

I think that he's a great coach. The players respect him and pay attention. I don't think that he would have taken the positition if he wasn't prepared to go all out for at least two years. With the respect that he commands, he's able to surround himself with the best assistant coaches in the league.

On the downside, he flip flops about his own future plans. When he was leaving the Jets as HC, he created a new football job for himself that made him boss. I think that's why Belicheck quit. He also left the Jets with serious cap problems IMO he's great for two, maybe three years and then he's problematic. Of course by then, a lot of Dallas players will have learned how to win, and others will have been revitalized.

I was sorry to see him leave the Jets. When he's coaching, you always have a shot at the playoffs, especially with parity. Even Dallas will have a shot once they get a QB.

They need a RB also.

I wouldn´t be surprised if Parcells tried to trade up to have a shot at Palmer or Leftwich.

He might try to get Testaverdi for one year, along with drafting a QB. Parcell's likes Vinny and Vinny is physically OK, he just never really grasped the Jet offense. Or he might try for somebody like Griese.

Dallas needs the most critical parts of what most good teams have. A solid QB and a good RB. They have neither, and there aren't many of them available unless they're willing to draft them, in which case the Cowboys would proabably languish at 7-9 for a couple of years before things improve - which I don't think Jones is prepared to do. If Parcells doesn't succeed in the first two years then I think the egos will start to clash and there will be a sudden change.

I think that Dallas' backup RB Troy Hambrick might turn out to be pretty good. If Parcells can't get the QB he wants with the high draft pick, he'll probably trade down and stock up on players. That's what he did with the Jets. Manning didn't come out so he traded down and picked up LB James Farrior and a bunch of other players.

It's a lot easier these days to build a team quickly.

The ESPN staff apparently think that Parcells wont last more than 3 years because Jerry Jones will think that whatever success they achieve with Parcells will be because of the the team and not because of Parcells.

kennyj, are you in for the playoffs fantasy competition that follows on from the league we were in? You got about three hours to set your team if you are. I'm in and have stacked my team with Jets for this weekends games you'll be pleased to know.

He was like that in college too. A healthy MV is very hard to create a defensive gameplan against because of his speed. He's a unique player in that regard. The only two teams that stand a chance of limiting his success are the Bucs and Eagles imo.
