That's a shame, seems like he's done good work there.

That’s gutting, sounds like he was really good at his job.

Someone on here already said that this was happening when Fletcher and Murtough were appointed.

The academy has done pretty well under him hasn't it?

He was probably on thin ice after those news stories a few months ago.

Shame to see him leave with all the good work that's seemingly been done in the academy since he took over his role. I suppose it isn't exactly surprising considering the recent changes in the organisational structure. The descriptions of some of the duties of the new guys, especially Fletcher, sounded very close to what we've heard about Butt's job before.

Nicky Cox runs the academy, Butt became head of first team development a while ago.

Quite surprised to be honest. Who will replace him?

Concerning to be honest, but I guess Solskjaer held this role once and left for the same reason.

Does he have a new job lined up? If not he's walked out midseason which isn't something people do when they like their workplace.

So people were lying when they said there’s always a Butt.

Doesn’t surprise me. I’m sure he’s felt a bit looked over for the technical director role which seems to have very similar duties to what he’s doing already. Especially when they gave the job to Fletcher who doesn’t have any experience.

Oh noes. Heard only good things about him. Probably won't really matter in the short term but we'll see how it goes 4-5 years down the line.

Probably at least partly to do with the assault allegations or whatever they were?

That sucks, out of all the ex players with roles at the club Butt actually did the best job by far, Ole included.

I'd want out as well if Fletcher went from occasional tv pundit to being promoted to a football-related role above mine despite my 9 years of good work.

He's done a seemingly fantastic job recently. Shame to see him go.
