Yes, ETH must shoulder some of the blame with decisions that he has made, but let's not forget what the key issue is here.

You really think more than half of the transfer targets acquired this summer were his 1st choice? Even 2nd choice? Let alone the injuries he's had to deal with.

The form of Rashford and Fernandes has been inexcusable and yet again, the players are downing tools on the manager and putting 0 effort in because they know it'll all come down on ETH's head.

We find ourselves once again, at the part of the post Ferguson cycle where the manager is to blame. Let's be real and just accept that until the main problems at the top of the club are dealt with i.e. the Glazers, director of football, debt clearance, NO manager or player will succeed at this club! The rot is too deep for anyone to fix at a 1st team managerial level, it's a literal graveyard.

I'm so sad at what this great club has become :(

Barcelona won the league on leavers! Stop talking all this Glazer rubbish. Manager perform poorly because they aren’t good enough to manage MANCHESTER UNITED

Agreed. Until the ownership changes we’re only going in one direction.

blame the manager, the players, the fans (bizarrely :wenger:) but it’s nibbling around the areas and it’s avoiding the key issue and problem.

Nothing will change until Ratcliffe comes in and changes the strategy from the top. Too much toxic noise around the club constantly.

I don’t believe it. There are managers out there who’ll coach these players better. Who’ll set this team up better. Who’ll spend £400m better.

It's not an either or thing though. Everything can be improved, we can't do it all at once. Agreed that a manager alone will likely not lead us to winning big trophies but we can do better than this. Just want to see some improvement in the way we play, can't be that much to ask.

who Is good enough then? Who would you swap him for? Mourinho, LvG, Moyes etc, none of them are good enough either? There’s only been one constant throughout the last 10 years of rubbish.

Most managers would do better with signings and subs than Erik has.

Even the crap ones.

I don’t agree. I know the Glazers aren’t good and we don’t have the best football structure. But we spend a lot on managers’ choices and tactically we can have a manager that does much better.

There are sooooooooo many press resistant players out there. Players that would improve us and not cost half as much as our duds. So money isn't an issue.

Until we bring in someone like Edu at Arsenal who prioritises these players, we're going nowhere.

Don't buy that. We've had money to spend and we have the players to be doing better than we've done this season.

That said, we've had a lot of injuries this season. Our whole back four and starting defensive midfielder was out today.

I agree 100% with the OP.

Even Ole figured it out, the team's best players mean we have to play in transition/on the counter. Those are the facts. Rashford and Bruno are our two best players and they are not performing. ETH has had to deal with his entire back 4 being out on top of Mount and now Casemiro. His forward/extra winger is out on loan at Getafe after the club spent the summer telling the manager he was coming back. He's been fecked from the off.

Weird example considering it’s a weaker league and we knocked them out of Europe last year.

And before the 10 years of poor decisions?

People just need to start making better decisions.

Before the current crisis G.Nev said we are still giving the managers too much control.

He got Amrabat.. what for?!!!

There are atleast 2 - Pep and Klopp. Maybe Ancelotti as a third. Sir Alex would have got us up there.
EtH has no excuses, he has made some baffling decisions this season.

It’s all down to recruitment, we’ve bought terribly and it always bites us on the arse..you could argue that our first 11 probably wouldn’t get on city’s bench

Must be difficult to accept that a group of players can be coached to play good football and work as a team in just a couple months, right?
We've had a good couple of months under a lot of our managers too.

Weak league or not. If we had a weak league we’d still struggle to make Top 4. You need to want to be the best. Even if ran by clowns. Barca want to be the best Real want to be the best. We just want to moan about giving people a fair shot all the time.

Yes, but the manager had a huge say in us signing Mount and Antony for a combined 140m.

I'd rather see eth just drop some of the players and put some kids in who will be more open to listening to his instructions.

But i agree, same shit with every manager post Fergie

We dont need a fix, we need someone brave enough to sacrifice by clearing the deck, whole fecking deck of these overpaid pricks, sell, drop in reserves, give them paid leave whatever.

If we have to watch a lower mid tier quality of football and piss poor performances, rather watch some unknowns that are on 20k per week that matches with their performance, clowns look like they have no idea to pass, play football in general, not to mention shit effort and they being north of 100k with ez, feck that. Nice way to set up a leech culture, fecking cnuts.

Whilst we have to rely on Rashford, Bruno, Antony, McT, Dalot, Maguire, you’re absolutely right.

Man Utd are a club with PTSD, where signings come to die. Hojlund must already be wondering what the feck he’s doing here.

Here we go again with the Glazers and the rot from the top.
We can barely beat a half decent team we are not aiming to dominate World Football. You don't need a miracles for that. Just a decent manager set-up and a good set of players.

I don't understand how people can make excuses for this clown of a manager. Yes, with this ownership and footballing structure we wont ever win anything significant but how hard is it to look like a team and not a set of individuals? How hard is it to play a good brand of football, have a positive GD and a gameplan? How can anyone justify what we are seeing this season?

The ownership and management are crap but this manager is crap too.

We are a club that has settled with getting Champions League football as a measure of success. The standards aren't as high as those of Madrid or Bayern but its still enough to get managers sacked when they miss out on top 4. But its too tight a rope in this league with so much money and quality available at the disposal of teams around us. There is no guarantee what worked the season before will be enough to stay there next season.

We need to accept a season finishing 7th or 8th or lower where the management can afford to build the club again at the expense of quick results. Yes things were'nt going for us at the start of the season.. we were a bit soft on the break, our press was inconsistent but we had to dig deep to find a way to try and play better along those lines. There were phases against Spurs or Bayern where we showed we could play but a couple of goals from McTominay or a worldie from Bruno against Burnley is enough to abandon the plan we had going into this season. These last few games are the worst Ive seen us play

ETH will probably get sacked before Jan now. This club just cant get out of this cycle atm.
