Yeah, won 4 defender of the year awards in a row while he was watching nurses in his hospital bed.
I can see the three-year peak concept is "a thing" these days. If games are going to revolve around that and soiling player reputations I want no business in it. Pot called the kettle and all that, but it's fecking called Nostalgia draft!!!

Maldini? You are questioning Maldini????? Bloody hell.
:nono: Hard to make any kind of case against Maldini and Nesta in this era!
I'm not questioning either.
Nesta is still the best CB and Maldini is still the best overall defender in the era. It's unfair comparison I know but I will always take an attacker's peak compared to defender's. Nesta and Maldini have the consistency and longevity on their side, but wasn't the same for their teams compared to what Dinho was to Barca during that era, that's my opinion of course.

CR7 06-09 peak being somewhat overlooked here. Up there with the cream of the crop imo. I'm biased obviously and it's my favorite version of Ronaldo.

You sure as feck did.

The argument with the attackers having advantage like you now explained is perfectly valid and understandable, so you could go there from the start.

Absolutely. I even thought of using that version of him an all-time pool because of his variety at the time. The most electric version for sure on top of goalscoring ability. Part of me always wished he managed to keep that dribbling ability much longer.

Entertaining factor (which was so strong in Ronaldinho while he was on top) really adds to players persona and rightly so if he still manages to hit insane numbers.

Agreed, that version definitely deserves to be utilized more often on here. Arguably one of the greatest wing forwards (if not the greatest) ever.

I think it is that it is that with the first pick you can't easily PM as your strategy could really change depending on who is available. I reckon it will pick up the pace after the first round or two.

Also I am thinking of modifying the rules on injuries so that we don't do an additional randomisation for the 1st and 16th drafter. The benefit is marginal if at all and it is cleaner to just block everyone from a single round. Any dissenters?

Keeping that version aside, CR himself needs more draft appearances. I can't even remember the last good CR team built here which is really strange.

Just a spectator in this draft, but I agree.

It's useful for giving a player with a shorter career peak a boost (Dinho, R9, etc.). Also to pin down a specific version of a player, which is important here for guys with pre-92 or post-12 peak years. But it really shouldn't be used against players who were consistentently great over a long period.

But it's of course up to you guys how you handle it.

Doubt it. Thought we had agreed that already actually as the exceedingly marginal benefit of "warming the balls" by swapping them around is contingent on which turn actually gets injured.

It's basically down to seeing what everyone picked in one turn and thinking "if everyone lost this turn's players, which is the one I would rather not lose?" yet you don't get to see what everyone will pick on the next. Completely irrelevant and I'm smack down the middle so would be most "affected" by it.

Well yeah, that does make sense and it is what hurt about having the likes of Ronaldinho, Romario, Rivaldo, Baggio or Batistuta available and going for a leftback instead. Somehow thought I could get lucky enough to still be chuffed to bits with Nedved on the turn, silly me.

That said, I refuse to have anyone in my XI that I don't care for. That's the only reason I signed up to this.
